    Turn 15 Begins

    WNNC Report: Eridani Incident

An unknown fleet has suddenly appeared in the Epsilon Eridani intent on annihilation of K’Krex. The Commonwealth and GKOP militaries, that were supposed to maintain watch over system failed to respond to the threat, continuing with their salvage operations. It was later ascertained, that their systems were overwhelmed and any alerts and sensor warnings intercepted.

The unknown assailants destroyed a convoy of transport ships, carrying over thirty thousand K’Krex to GKOP and took course to a point, from which they could begin launch of KI weapons to eradicate K’Krex on the planet, where under the peace treaty, the their population was relocated. The attackers were intercepted by Dreamel Mercenaries, that were protecting the Rift Gate construction and in fierce battle repelled. The Dreamel prioritized the protection of Rift Gate and alerted the Commonwealth & GKOP forces about the mysterious attackers. They unfortunately failed in their pursuit and survivors managed to disappear without trace.

The transportation of the K’Krex proceeded without further problems. The K’Krex have charged deaths of their brethren transported to GKOP to the negligence of Commonwealth & GKOP and possible complicity with the attackers.

    Reactions to Eridani Incident:

The Dreamel are viewed as heroes, both in gate assault to bring the K’Krex down and their gallant rescue of K’Krex from the unknown attacker. EVRAZ has already announced, it will seek services of the mighty Dreamel Fleets to protect its interests.

The Commonwealth and GKOP are viewed in less favourable light. The occupation of the Epsilon Eridani fell to their hands and it appears the effort was badly bungled. The WNNC investigation revealed no real oversight over K’Krex, even after the K’Krex spies were located in CAP. The GKOP and Commonwealth militaries failed in basic patrol duties that may have caught the attack in advance. Even the Dreamel presence, that saved the day, was because of the Jelthes, who sought additional warships to protect the valuable Rift Gate. There are already questions being asked about the rights to the Epsilon Eridani system. Who will it belong to, now, that K’Krex have left?

The identity of the attacker is of course the greatest mystery. The most likely culprit – Humanists. They have long decried letting the K’Krex leave the known space with valuable intelligence. There is a call to have the incident investigated and responsible brought to judgement. The K’Krex invoke little sympathy, but the violent methods employed against them shouldn’t be tolerated.

    Sthuthid Crisis

The Tian Technocracy has partially lifted the blockade, allowing limited entry to WNNC. The Sthuthid Government has issued a statement:

''Our situation is stabilizing and we are grateful to the concern of our friends, protection of our allies and expert help of Sumus negotiators. We intend to re-join the known space soon, as hopefully the worst of our crisis is over. We will also restrict the sale of Spice to nations, that have shown ability to handle it, so we may not imperil anybody else to fall into similar trouble, we’ve experienced.''

    Aurelian Colonies Joins Commonwealth

The referendum over, the Aurelian Colonies have announced, they will be joining the Commonwealth. Already, [+++] of Aurelian Fleets were integrated into the Commonwealth’s military chain of command.

    Commonwealth Politics:

As the weaknesses of Commonwealth military are exposed in the Eridani Incident, Commander-In-Chief, Admiral Stross talks to press:

''President Varulf is a skilled politician. Our victory in the Sthuthid Crisis was work of a supremely talented diplomat. But he isn't a soldier and that shows. My health is not as used to be, I can't keep up and I can't bring the balance between military and political needs. Thus, I will be stepping down and under special provisions appointing a successor to the post, until the time of election. A younger, fresher face, to make sure Commonwealth Military remains strong. Let me present to you, decorated vice-admiral and long-time confidant - Anatolia Voyce''

    Elections:

The Ministerial and Presidential elections looming in the close future, the question of the candidates is a hot news topic. President Korven Varulf is expected to seek re-election. Minister of Finance Kim Jian and Minister of Civil Affairs James Blunt have enjoyed considerable popularity, and some wonder if they would seek to use it to get the higher post. The health would preclude Admiral Stross, a strong candidate in the previous elections from running race, but he still holds considerable influence. The humanist movement have grown strong and it is possible they would seek to put forward their own candidate. It is yet unknown what role the WNNC and Willam Banks would play in the elections – will he go for king or kingmaker. Among the six worlds of Commonwealth, Reach is currently in ascendancy, next only to House Varulf. Will they introduce a national candidate and have the bridges between their appointee, Kim Jian mended enough, for them to choose him. The recent addition of Aurelian Colonies seems to play in the hands of WNNC and Humanists, however the strong pacifist movement may also lend its strength to Republic of Ross'es traditionally pro-peace politics.

    Humanist Power

The addition of the Aurelian Colonies has reinvigorated the movement and the Humanist's work to protect the minds of citizens from ''Iter'' earned them popular support, Humanists are a rising power in the Commonwealth and some believe the movement is maturing past its ''radical'' youth. The moderates have been growing in power and seeking to spread past Commonwealth, opening dialog with Ascension Coalition and GKOP.

Of course some say, that in the light of the Eridani Incident, it could be simply PR move and the organization simply grew more covert in their actions.

Trantis Coalition Moves to EZ Aquarii

The cocky Coalition was so confident in its victory over EVRAZ in EZ Aquarii dispute, they started packing, before the official ruling was made. Their ground facilities were neatly packed, their stations towed by warp-capable ships. The massive caravan made it to the EZ Aquarii unscathed courtesy of a number of anti-pirate raids, that cleared up galaxy out of criminal scum as well as heavy Commonwealth military escort.

    EZ Aquarii: Trantis Coalition's Responsibility

The ruling of the first Galactic Court has been in favor of Trantis Coalition. The executives of the corporation have issued a statement, where they announced they accept the ruling and hope their relations with Trantis Coalition weren't damaged beyond repair in the incident, as the two corporations can profit by working together in the future.

    Psychic Phenomenon – ''Iter''

As the motives of the psychic entity remained unknown, after it disappeared from the Proxima Antilae, the people of known space decided to rather err on the side of caution, rather then find themselves in similar situation as Sthuthid Colonies.

The Humanist put their full efforts into purging Iter from the Commonwealth, earning gratitude of citizens in all six worlds of the fast growing federation.

Anarchists have expelled the psychic presence as well, declaring, that nobody comes to YZ Ceti uninvited.

Mother Rhea has used her psionic might to temporarily supress Iter’s connection to Sthuthids and and Xens, while purging the Tian Technocracy free of Iter’s influence. She has issued an ultimatum, that unless Iter proves to be benign, it will be purged from the rest of the races in the Cygni Accords.

Terran Sumus have protected Terran Federation from the psychic infection at initial stages.

    Iter Discovered

Meanwhile, WNNC has managed to locate the enigmatic entity in the EZ Aquarii, where it was outfitted by Trantis Coalition with massive, sinister looking devices of unknown purpose. It was assisting in the construction employing massive gravitational forces with deadly precision.

Another visitor in the system was the elusive battleship of Suula’En Coi – ''Counterweight''. The Suula En’Coi have remained mostly off radar, with nobody actually knowing where they come from and what their motives are, apart from their involvement with Star Gods. Their battleship is massive, armed with countless missile silos and clad in layers upon layers of armor.

WNNC Reports – EZ Aquarii Outbreak!

''This is Tomas Wong, reporting from Trantis Coalition’s Trading Station ''Komar''. The outbreak of the epidemic was detected by the station’s medical bay, when one of the station visitors, Geary Joys, visited for a routine health check. The discovery of the virus was a miraculous stroke of luck, as it has proved to be highly elusive in face of less sophisticated medical technology. At this moment the outbreak on the station is contained and Trantis Coalition is running tests to determine, if the infection spread to its other space or ground facilities. EZ Aquarii isn’t one of the main trading lanes, however it’s Warp Gate to one of the main trade arteries – 61, Cygni lends to fears, we are not out of the red yet.''

Now to discuss the virus with our expert, Doctor Tara Fairbanks.

''The virus is airborne and highly contagious. It has a long incubation period, but is extremely hard to detect during this stage. Once active it quickly shut downs the host organism’s respiratory functions.''

How dangerous would it be to us?

''I believe all nations in known space have medical technology to counteract the virus. The issue is how fast it is detected and contained, before affected nation won’t have time or resources to fully combat its threat.''

So, does Trantis Coalition have time to deal with the virus, before it starts claiming victims?

''Certainly, I believe they’ll have the issue resolved soon and without much problems. Their society is less affected by the viral threats, unless there are computer viruses. Most of the infected were visitors, passing the system.''

So the virus is not that dangerous.

''Oh, for low tech civilization it would be an extinction event. And if it caught us unprepared or unable to commit resources to deal with it, we’d be in trouble. Fortunately, we caught it early on. That doesn’t mean we’ll always be this lucky. The state of our medical technology is simply appalling. I doubt there was any investment in our field, apart from cybernetic enhancements.''

Can you say anything about the origins of the virus? Some say it’s a bio-weapon.

''That is possible, but I can’t confirm it, as I have only second-hand data, you’ve acquired from Trantis Coalition. It doesn’t look like they checked far enough, beyond manufacturing the cure.''

    Tian Technocracy-EVRAZ Summit

The results of long diplomatic negotiations between Tian Technocracy and EVRAZ have become public. The Tian Technocracy has agreed to supply EVRAZ with advanced military technology to ensure the corporate giant can protect its borders against possible threats. A light defensive agreement was signed between the two nations.

Another significant outcome of the negotiations was transfer of 61 Cygni under EVRAZ control. It appears Tian Technocracy managed to convince Xens to leave their system in exchange for undisclosed accommodations in the Teegarden’s Star.

    EVRAZ: Aurora Force

EVRAZ has announced it is expanding its defensive fleets. In a grand ceremony the new defense fleet is unveiled: 80,000 shining new Plasma Bombers ''Aurora'' [/+++++ +++++ ++ Military].

''You are witnessing the perfect synthesis of Tian-Human technology, piloted by men trained by the experienced veterans of GDF. We will expand our defensive forces as per necessity. If you’d like to have magnificent ships made by us defend your planets, EVRAZ will match the slashed prices policy of Light Shipyards. The lowest our competition offers is our deal.''

    WNNC Report: 61 Cygni

As the Xens are leaving the system, for the first time we can observe the worlds of enigmatic aliens. Our satellites show images of Hydian Factories digging deep into planets to harvest raw materials, it appears Xens had little regard for long-term prospects of habitability. There are scattered domes, where the they have lived, but next to none infrastructure between them, the planets show minimal signs of terraforming and conditions are extremely harsh. It certainly explains why Xens were willing to sell the place. It’s no picnic here.

The only Cygni Accords held territory in the system is the planetoid Allu, where Hive Mind is currently detained, as they were deemed too dangerous for transport.

    Spice Politics

Humanists have called for eradication of Spice trade, once and for all. They propose to increase the prison terms for users and pushers, so just possession of Spice would see man behind bars for a long time, while sale may earn up to a life sentence.

The prices of spice have grown high due to shortages, and when something becomes a forbidden rarity, there is a demand for it. Some unscrupulous dealers began taking advantage of the situation, working to restore the Spice Black market to its former glory. The police forces of various nations are however optimistic: ''We have brought them down once, and we'll do it again''.

There is a growing movement in the known space, petitioning the King Albert of Procyon to convince Way of Stars to switch from using Spice in their rituals. ''Certainly with a bit of research and ingenuity, a safer alternative can be found and a better way to trigger psionic potential''.

    DX Cancri Warp Lanes

The Warp Lanes to DX Cancri are beginning to slowly stabilize.

    Aurelian Marines

Aurelian Marines return after years of detention in the USI (DX Cancri). They report, that they were treated well, but they are happy to be returned home. They are received with celebration in Aurelian Colonies.

    GKOP Unrest

There are mass protests in GKOP about the issues of economic depression and overpopulation. The Jelthes leaving the system and many alien owned enterprises have made the situation more difficult, while fears of the psionic powers led many people to question the close alliance between the state and Way of Star Gods. Some resentment towards the religion is fuelled by massive tracts of holy land, the colonists in LP731-58 are forbidden from entering. There is also a restoration movement, that claims the King Albert is being deceived by his advisers and seek to restore the absolute monarchy, removing the corrupt democratic elements. ''Our King is truly the Father of the Nation. We will trust absolute power in the hands of the enlightened ruler, who cares for the well-being of his subjects, will do more good, then the demagoguery and populism of democrats.''

The demonstrations remain peaceful as people see hope in the growth of entertainment industries, development of LP731-58 and support of Galactic Labor Union.

    EVRAZ to Rescue

A solution to the GKOP plight has materialized, courtesy of EVRAZ. There is growing advertisement for jobs in the 61 Cygni, the new resource operation of the interstellar corporation. There is advertisement and recruiters already operating to invite the GKOP masses to a new place of opportunity.

The GLU however is issuing warning. EVRAZ has much looser regulations and little regard for safety and health of its workers. They have persisted in their refusal to sign even basic measures to protect worker's rights, GLU proposed.

    Global Market News

Solaris Inc. continues to withstand assault of lucrative offers from EVRAZ that appears intent on securing second largest mining operations in the known space. However, it appears the EVRAZ’s lust for raw materials will be satisfied with acquisition of 61 Cygni from Xens.

Anarchists, Sumus and Light Shipyards have spoken against the economic giants of Commonwealth and EVRAZ. They claim the two juggernauts are engaging in Capitalistic Colonialism and trying to control the known space through unsavoury business practices. The new movement quickly gained support from Terran Federation. Commonwealth has suffered the most from this new development, losing presence in several of its markets.

The alliance of the Terran Federation and Ascension Coalition moved into Weapons Market. The newly manufactured weapons bearing the AC/TF-Pattern initially stood in competition with the Commonwealth produced weapons. However the growing demand for market’s products, caused by the EVRAZ rearming the GDF allowed both market actors to make decent profits.

The Light Shipyards have come after Military Shipbuilding Market, held by Commonwealth, with vengeance. Slashing their profits they fought tooth and nail to wrest control and nearly succeeded. The Commonwealth is still the king, but only by a thread.

WNNC has announced it has 2 Mercury Devices, the FTL Communication Nodes, ready to be installed in star system. This technology is already providing considerable benefits to Commonwealth, EVRAZ, CAP, and Anarchists. The Mercury Device will boost nation’s Economy [-] and Morale [-]. The contract specifies WNNC control over programming, so on their part, they will gain considerable media influence. WNNC wishes to conduct an auction, starting at [-] t. Economy, for where they will establish the Mercury Devices.

EVRAZ-Commonwealth cooperation has led to the former increasing their market share in Raw Materials market and the latter taking a larger share of Tourism Market.

Energy Market has made a comeback, as various massive projects began to require so much energy, even the Star Stations massive output is no longer sufficient. Light Shipyards and Trantis Coalition stand to benefit from this development as they have their old solar collector facilities, they can restore to operation, since they are now profitable again.

The restoration of the Warp Lanes to DX Cancri has sparked rumors of the possibility, the loans USI took before the start of K'Krex Wars may yet be repaid, now that the peace with K'Krex was achieved. This led to growth in Financial Markets, that came to screeching halt, after the news of the the attack in Epsilon Eridani.

    New Battleship!

After the Dreadnought Class ships of GKOP and Tian Technocracy, it is the turn of Commonwealth. Raison D'être is a massive battleship, wielding massive firepower. There are already bets and speculations which of the three battleship types would win in a fight - Commonwealth's, GKOP's or Tian's.

The propaganda extols the virtues of the mighty battleship, although many people note with dry humour, that it's firepower comes from alien technology.

We were at first concerned as to the outbreak of the virus. We find it doubtful that such a virus would evolve among us, who are now using mostly machinery; it seems in defiance to probablity, and in apparent disregard to the Law of Evolution.

However, we are incertain as to who could have done this. The only people we can possibly think that may begrudge us are EVRAZ (doubtful) and the Kedr colony (more doubtful still). Perhaps there is an unknown threat, but if they possess the power to engineer such a virus they should also possess the knowledge that it would not harm us. The same would be true for the EVRAZ, though perhaps not the Kedr. Nonetheless, after our careful consideration it seems most likely that it was simply chance evolution.

We will consider purchasing your services, just to become certain, but we will not pay an extremely large price. Name what you want in exchange now, and we will tell you if we find it reasonable.

    The Glorious Kingdom of Procyon

The Glorious Kingdom of Procyon announces that they developed a working psionic protection device, suitable for individual use. Currently preparations are made to start up serial production.

    To Thelonius:

The ++ mil in Epsilon Eridiani are tasked with looking out for survivors (trapped in the wreckage and in evacuation capsules) among the convoy’s remains.

Mandatory medical checks for signs of infection with the new virus for all out system visitors are set up. Further several medical task forces are formed to act in case of an outbreak. (OOC: what will this cost?)

    More things from EoT report:
How expensive are the prototypes, or do you have to decide this in a case by case basis and what protection level do they offer?
I am missing several more technologies: all the techs I got during the tech trade with human coalition (plasma weapons, Battlesuits, Xenofungus Plating, Mind Worms as weapons) and I am missing the micro fusion reactors I traded with Trantis Coalition.

    To Commonwealth [16]:

We agree. Whoever did this not only disgraced our nations, he murdered tens of thousand sentient’s and deliberately increased the likelihood of another war.

There is one point of light in this whole mess: The attack bears some similarities with another attack we suffered years ago. However, this time the execution was by far sloppier and less effective despite the high death toll. We will not discuss this further over interstellar channels. The risk of unwanted listeners is far too high.

    To Mechanoids [16]:

We welcome you in known space. We, the Glorious Kingdom of Procyon are excited to meet a entirely new species. In order to help you integrating into the local network, we would like to offer you a trade treaty. In case the concept of trade is foreign to you, we prepared a file to explain you the concept and its benefits. (File to explain trade sent if needed). A trade treaty would make the trade between our polities easier by establishing common standards and lowered tariffs on traded goods. If you wish we can extend this to the point of a free trade zone between our nations.

If you are interested, we can also offer to sell you an automated factory and mining complex, the Hydian Factories. If placed on an uninhabited body (moon, asteroid) the factories will generate +- p.econ and we can sell them to you for +++++ + t.econ or, more likely +++++ t.econ and + from another stat.

Sadly, the bad news are very bad. The exchange between Admiral Riaxal and us to free the captured agents failed. A currently unidentified enemy managed to destroy the convoy. Currently we are looking for survivors in hope to exchange them for the agents.
We suspect that whoever orchestrated this attack did it in order to prevent us from learning something important, either from your agents or Admiral Riaxal.
In the light of these events, we do have a proposal. If you were to support us in either bringing Sigmas to justice or identifying those responsible for the Eridiani Incident, our chance for success would rise significantly.”

In the structures that ATV SAR 3419/AV has had constructed vast quantities of power begin to flow. The drone itself orders all the human construction workers it has been using off the planet for reasons of safety before initiating the final step in the arcane process it has been using to transform the planet into whatever it is that it has been building. The result of years of construction and the pouring of more resources than most nations have access to into the planet are in fact somewhat anticlimactic. Sensors all over the system simply register that there is essentially a hole in gravity around the planet. A region of space in which star's gravity does not extend into the higher dimensions of warp space. (Essentially WSDs could be placed around the planet rather than at the edge of the system, I'll post a full explanation if anyone actually cares.)

What happens next is definitely not anticlimactic. A point of blue light seems to appear in orbit over the planet. With a flash it rapidly expands into a sphere almost the size of a moon. Then it vanishes leaving behind a true leviathan of a ship. Dwarfing even the massive ATV SAR 3419/AV the ship is long and sleek. But what is most fascinating is that is also a work of art. Massive murals the size of mountains depict scenes of nature and what are hopefully mythological creatures along its hull. In some sections intricate light shows dance along its flanks, and what appears to be an actual carefully cultivated forest lies along its top, or what appears to be its top be normal starship direction conventions. Components that on human ships are openly displayed are on this ship cunningly worked into the flaw of the artistry so as not to mar the works of art. Huge emitter arrays are hidden among the sculptures, shuttle bays, which on closer examination prove to be bays large enough to hold even the largest of human ships, are cunningly worked into the mouths of the fantastical creatures, and what appear to be missile launch tubes are nestled into the depressions of the murals. Above all the observers get the impression that this ship was created by a race where form is definitely regarded more highly than function.

In more practical terms the ship also takes up a polar orbit above the planet and launches two ships. One is nearly identical to ATV SAR 3419/AV, and it soon becomes apparent that a switch is taking place as the original drone flies into the bay that the new arrival has just vacated. The other is a smaller sleeker ship with murals on its hull reminiscent of those on its mother ship. After the ship transferal is complete another blue sphere engulfs the huge Reki'Che ship and then dwindles into nothing taking the ship with it.

The new trading drone broadcasts in a similiar manner to the first one. Psionically affecting every sentient within 10 light years. "I am ATV SAR 3422/AV. I will honor all deals that ATV SAR 3419/AV has made and in addition renew its offer. If you have any interest in purchasing from my extensive catalog you need only ask. In addition with the completion of the Beacon I have been authorized to purchase additional worlds throughout this local area. I will now accept worlds as an additional form of currency. I have also been authorized to offer the services of Mender Terraforming ships, Weaver Manufacturer Ships, and Cauterizer War Ships to those capable of meeting the appropriate price for their services."

I need to know whether I missed something or if your ship is going to have to make an emergency jump back to Procyon.

To the Commonwealth (and ISREC if they want to read it)
    Spoiler
    Show
OOC: You're going to have to ask ISREC what they're actually going to tell you about this system. Since I don't want to make decision for razovor. And you'll have to be more specific about the bio-planet. There's not really anything in my notes I would describe as a bio planet. For the sake of expediency. I will give you the gravitic readings now though. In essence there are two bits of pertinent information. First ISREC has made enough readings of two of the three remaining planets in the system to cut the time it takes for a WSD to stabilize warp lanes to one turn, but there is a problem. The gravity anomalies form a complete sphere around the inner system, and there are so many of them that the combined gravity signature is immense.

A quick description of WSDs here since I'm not sure this has been described. WSDs are normally placed on the outer edge of the system. Usually beyond the orbits of the farthest planets. This is because the local star generates a gravity shadow which interferes with the creation of a warp lane any closer in. Warp lanes can be made, but they're unstable and dangerous to travel through. This also interferes with exploration drives to a lesser extent which is why exploration ships always warp into the edge of the system. The problem in this system is that the gravity field generated by the anomalies is adding to the star's normal gravity shadow. Currently if a WSD was placed in the normal position it would generate warp lanes, but most ships would be destroyed if they tried to travel through them. A few would get through, but losses would be very high. Only ships with exploration drives would reliably be able to make the transit, both because they're generally larger and more robust, and because they generate their own warp fields. In order to get clear of the enhanced gravity shadow the WSD would need to be placed somewhere beyond this system's Kuiper belt. There's nothing in particular stopping that from happening, but it would mean that inbound ships would add a very long time to the inbound STL leg of the journey ships have to go through once they clear the WSD, as no one has actually created an in system FTL drive yet.

Somewhat ironically due to the lack of planets in this system if the gravity anomalies weren't creating that field the WSD would actually be able to be placed closer than normal expediting travel times.

OOC: This was going to be a bit more involved, but its been a turn already so I'm going to speed things up. I'm also going to assume you fire the GRESEY since you put the preparations into getting it ready.

The battle between the exploration ship and the alien vessels is not particularly impressive in either the grace of the ships involved or the tactical brilliance of their crews. The Trantis ship is primarily a scientific platform, and while its hastily converted weaponry is effective it is obvious the crew is not particularly skilled in shooting at things. On the other hand the alien vessels do not fare much better. While they do appear to be military ships it soon becomes clear that they are drones and ones whose databanks of tactical maneuvers is not particularly large. It also becomes clear that they have gone a very long time without repair or resupply as quite a few times one or another of the alien ships is seen opening a launch tube or swiveling a gun turret to no apparent effect, as if ammunition stores have been depleted.

Still despite being individually weaker after a few hours it appears that the aliens sheer numbers is beginning to overwhelm the exploration ships makeshift weapons. At which point the captain orders that the GRESEY be deployed for the first time. It proves quite effective, quickly downing over three quarters of the remaining aliens vessels. At this point Jur proves that while he may not have been willing to face the full alien flotilla he is by no means helpless. Moving into range several spines raise off his main body and hurl large organic pods at the surviving alien ships. These pods prove to contain some time of acid which quickly breaks down the last few drone ships.

Sailing past your ship Jur indicates its thanks for your assistance and that it will be happy to discuss replenishing your losses and perhaps some more substantial form of thanks once it has rescued its fellow. Moving close to the large structure Jur deploys large roots which beginning burrowing into the structure and peeling off armor plating.

While they wait for Jur to finish your crews attempts to convert the make shift weapons back into the original supplies they were made from, but unfortunately it proves that some supplies were inevitably lost due to use as ammunition and from damage during the battle. At the same time the science teams in charge of the GRESEY report that its use has depleted your fuel reserves. In all you have lost + econ from ship stores. Meanwhile the sensor crews report that it appears that the drone ships did not just house weapons. With the alien drones battle ECM down the sensor techs can now detect some type of emitter array taking up large potions of each ships forward bow. It is of a type none of them have seen before and your scientists wish to examine it.

Also the crew is fairly excited about winning their first space battle, and with minimal damage to the ship. They gain + morale. Your nation's morale will also increase once they report back.

OOC: You may also want to include any gains made, like the morale, in your EoT to make sure it doesn't get overlooked.

Is the body count to low for the observed damage and the amount of K’Krex that were onboard?

    Planets:
    Spoiler
    Show

There are two planets in the system. The innermost planet appears to be an industrial world, covered in vast factories, mining complexes and solar farms. Iron appears to be the main metal found on this world.

The Outerworld is more pastoral. It is covered in what appear to be cities, and either parks or farms, but it's hard to tell through the overgrowth.

Both worlds are surrounded by a halo of orbital structures.

    Inhabitants:
    Spoiler
    Show
The inhabitants of this world appear to have been at least three metres tall, with four arms and two legs. They are believed to be the same species as Jelthes.

    System History:
    Spoiler
    Show
The system appears to have been abandoned only a short time ago, with great care taken to remove anything of valuable, or protect it with preservatives. In the systems libraries there are references to a war, which caused resources to be withdrawn from this sector.

    Areas of interest:
    Spoiler
    Show
The cities are dotted with several large monuments, covered in either symbols or artwork. Sections appear to have been deliberately removed from the monuments.

A bunker on the pastoral world controls the drones which maintain the gravitational field. It also has another unknown function.

A facility on the mining world can shut-down all the facilities on the planet. The mines on the industrial world are currently online. A lot of them are inoperable due to damage.

In orbit around the industrial world are a series of power collection units, and orbital factories. The power collection units are online, and providing power to factories. We don't have enough working mines, or people to support all the factories.

In orbit around the pastoral world are a series of orbital habitats.

There are some unidentified power signatures coming from underneath both planets.

    Technologies of interest:
    Spoiler
    Show
The advanced preservative used to protect various things in the system.

Gravity manipulation technology, found in the drones around the system, and protecting the bunker on the pastoral world.

A foam of some kind, found in the pastoral bunker, being used to prevent it from overheating.

I'm going to get to work on these orbital habitats. I'll start with just one of them. My crew will clean the preservatives off the equipment, fix any obvious damage, bring some atmosphere up from the planet, and turn on the power.

These could make a nice addition to the housing market. Also, I'll contact the traders and see if either of them have any robots that can run the orbital facilities for us.

It looks like we're going to need to purchase or develop FTL drives. My corporation has no available research assets. Do you?

A robotic workforce to run a series of orbital facilities we control.

Automated Drones to repair a number of mines we control.

Can you provide either of these?

FTL in-system drives are advanced technology that we do not currently have the ability to research. We do have advanced engines, but that won't help much.

Instead, I suggest we try and learn how to control the gravitic drones, so we can shut enough of them down to get the WSD in place. We will be looking over that facility on the pastoral world.

I wish the negotiations with the GLU proceed smoothly despite your differences in ideology. I am certain your corporation will emerge all the stronger for the effort, and it will also remove the one hindrance from the otherwise good relations between our two nations.

We wish to once more note that we are always open to work with you if you have a project that requires cooperation. There is plenty of talent and capital within the Commonwealth.

    Global Market

The Commonwealth would like to hear some details about these unsavoury business practices. If there's anything our corporations have done wrong, it should be brought to light and fixed. We're the first group to put in place workplace regulations, wage assurances and such, as well as focusing only on quality in all our dealings. If anything, we have handicapped our competitive practices by demanding that we not trample the rights of the individual for the good of many.

If the complaint is just that we're too big, then that's not our fault - it is a rule of economics that groups creating value will coalesce into larger units as it is more efficient and so fares better in competition. That's evolution at work, and only by being more efficient, doing more with less and better, can you prosper. It is the cornerstone of the capitalistic ideology and societal model, being pragmatic. The Commonwealth has a lot of resources, people, capital and talent, which naturally makes us a large economic unit.

Competition will lead to better products and smaller margins, and to progress. It's good for us, so if you want to compete and feel confident in your product, go ahead. But don't try to hide your intentions behind a wall of words or insult the hard-working people of our nation with your slander. If we have done something wrong, we'll take responsibility and do what we can to fix things, but if we have not, we will not be ashamed of the failings of others.

    Eridani Incident

The Commonwealth government offers an apology to the K'Krex for their failings. The sensors of the fleet were blinded and the attack carried out in secrecy, yet any operation such as this leaves traces. The CIA will be conducting an investigation on the matter and the Navy will create new models of action to prevent such things from happening in the future. The guard over the Epsilon Eridani system will be doubled in size.

All this will be no help to those who have lost friends or relatives in the attack. The fault lies in us who failed to protect them, as in those who conducted the attack itself. We thank the Dreamel Fleets for helping avoid a bad situation turning a lot worse.

As for the politics, this attack is a tragedy. A war is a war, and the K'Krex understand this just as well as us. It's something we should avoid, but soldiers shooting at each other in the field know what they are there for and have made their own, voluntary choice to fight for their beliefs. This attack is nothing more than vile terrorism, striking from the shadows at innocent civilians. If one is willing to sink that low, their methods dirty their goals. Nothing can be achieved with methods like that, and they are unconditionally condemned by the Commonwealth.

If you require help getting your economy back on the growth track, we could discuss some sort of agreements. It isn't good for galactic trade or our own independence of the EVRAZ market if our second-most important trade partner undergoes depression.

Sorry about the extend lapse in posting for my exploration. I was kinda stumped how to get these ships out of the system. Still am a bit confused.

So, the Amerigo should survey the system other than the ships. Any planets suitable for colonisation or mining operations? Basically what I want to know is if the value of the system outweighs the cost of a warp gate.
