Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Random thing following a crossdressing thing I did (and which I went a bit overboard with): Hair removal. So not worth it.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Yeah... I don't want to talk about where I started bleeding from...
The thing is, I did the safety test they indicated and evidently still started bleeding from areas where the skin was more delicate or something (not from the nair, I think, just from when the roots physically pulled loose).

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Even just going at the legs with a razor once was more than enough for me. I didn't cut myself, but that was a lot more effort than I thought it would be and a lot less worth it too.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
I've tried shaveing a couple of times, it gets easier, though there's some places that a blade can't reach.
in other news, I'm still kind of at a loss here. On one hand I think "one date won't hurt, and I might make a friend" on the other hand I think "It's a big mess waiting to happen."

Ugh, hair removal. Want hair gone. Don't want pain. An unsolvable conundrum.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Had a "D'awww" moment today. Was eating lunch and
dropping eavespeople watching and I happened to overhear a pair of friends talking. One was really excited (gushing, actually) about his date last night, which I guess went really well. They were meeting his new girlfriend for lunch. A few minutes later, said girlfriend joined them. Girlfriend was obviously MtF. Happy couple was happy and it was cute.

Wow, I didn't realize hair removal could hurt so much. I will never ask my boyfriend to shave again.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Indeed. I'm a clumsy biological female who freaked out in a big way the first time I cut myself shaving my legs... I honestly believed my death was imminent.
Also, waxing of arms was mentioned?
I'll do my legs if I'm going to go swimming or wear shorts/ a skirt etc. but I draw the line at hair removal for my arms. I guess you're more likely to have thicker, darker hair on your arms if you're (biologically) male though... Like Tip from early Skin Horse comics (who is a transvestite but not transgender/transexual).
I agree this story is cute, (happy couples are happy couples, after all) but wonder how certain one can be that somebody's obviously MtF. I guess traces of facial hair and adam's apples can be pretty solid clues... I guess people with more experience of the trans community would also be better at knowing the difference than I am too.
I'm assuming that the friend was positive about it anyway which is good whether there's doubt about whether the girlfriend was trans or not seeing as it's always nice to see a)supportive friends and b)people who don't get overly hung up about physical appearances.
I'd also like to add that I neverdrop eavespeople watch. Not ever. Ever Ever.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
If you look at bad movies about Amazons and other female barbarians, you notice they are all smoothly shaved wherever you can see. Legs, arms, armpits... My speculation is that they use wax as a way to toughen themselves, and therefore have a pain resistance and toughness far, far beyond anyone except Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Well hello there,
Mr Bear MuffinWoofcakesSpooshy-bearsexypants. Yes, I'm horrible with cutesy names that reflect bearishness. Yes, I will hit you if you mention it. Yes, I will specifically not hit you if doing so would cause you enjoyment and/or pleasure. I'm looking at you, Kneenibble.
Miscast_Mage NO LIKEY PAIN!! Why does every man I end up with insist on spanking me, pinching my man-nipples or otherwise just being outright rough? I'm a delicate little flower, you know! Even though I'm 6ft 4in and weigh 17 stone. >_>
This bugs the hell out of me. Why wouldn't savage tribal warriors, barbarians, amazons, various other "primal" warriors, etc have body hair? Would these warriors be so obsessed with their body image that they shave their entire bodies? If anything, body hair would make them more look fierce. Not to mention sexy. If anyone one would just depict them as such. Ackpth.Yes I'm bitter that body hair apparantly just outright doesn't exist in fantasy artwork, so sue me.
Also, was binging through the comic linked earlier and I come across something reminiscent of a recent topic.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Doesn't nair specifically say not to use it on your genitals? It can also help to leave nair longer than recommended since nair works directed on the hair thus if you leave it long enough it usually has weakened the hair enough that you don't have to yank it out.
How did you manage that? (this is rhetorical)
Sadly, the answer seems to be to not grow it in the first place. On the other hand, Nair is (usually) relatively harmless. I usually use a combination of nair and shaving the hair off after the nair has weakened the hair and find it works well. Note that men's hair is different than women's, so most people will have a harder/easier time than me depending on their gender.
I don't know that it really gets easier to tell. The more time I spend around transfolk the less sure I feel about guessing if someone is trans or not without seeing them nude and doing chromosome analysis. If anything voice is the most likely tell.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Suggaring is not too painful.
Hot wax epilation is a bit more painful, but perfectly doable.
I always use hot wax epilation for my legs and... other bits.
Electrolysis, on the other hand, is quite painful.LGBT in the playground - banner by Doihaveaname?.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
One doesn't have to deliberately apply it for it to get on there by accident when applying to the (recommended) "bikini area," as I found out to my vast and painful irritation. And more of the bleeding came from some stretch marks I have in other areas.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Electrolysis is at least more permanent than other solutions, so maybe it is worth it.
I tried laser recently (just a test patch) and I found it to be somewhat painful (as well as not effective on my hair).
Oh, well, that seems less "What are you doing? You're insane!" than the impression I had gotten from your other posts. I'm still rather surprised by the bleeding. Was the hair extra-thick or something?

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Well, you know me. No point in describing things the sane way when I can go for the extra double take value. I invited "a fifth of a hundred people" to my party yesterday rather than twenty. I set fire to my stove to cook an omelet rather than turning on the gas. I spent half an hour trying to bribe a beautiful black five year old into the back of my van with treats rather than giving my neighbor's lab a lift to the beach for walkies.
That dog really did not like my car. I guess it was too smelly?

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Well, there's a couple of problems there, the most prominent of them being I don't go for complete hairlessness but there is enough grooming going on normally to not pass the minimum requirements for such. The others mostly being that I don't meet the other criteria of being a bear.
Though whether my pants are sexy or not, that depends on whether you consider size 40 khakis on a 38.5 waist to fit the criteria. Oh, work "uniforms."
It's not the lovers I mind, so much as the random people on my dorm hall who felt that they had free reign to grab them simply because my shirt was tight. Never really got what was up with that at all. Especially not with the drunk girls. I get the lack of inhibitions, but not why it would occur to one to do it, even without inhibitions.
Kneenibble: Well, the pain I didn't object to so much as the sheer amount of blood lost. And by that I mean, the sheer amount of stain that resulted from the pitiful amount I bled before I staunched it. And by that I mean the entire shower's upper level of grime got stained with my blood so I had to clean my entire shower.
Which is all kinds of wrong because I was a teenaged boy at the time. Teenaged boys' showers are supposed to have a minimum amount of scuzziness just for appearances' sake!
Well, if you're confused as to how I bled so much, I blame being the weakest and smallest of 3 brothers and mollycoddling as a boy so that my skin is not nearly as leathery as it needs to be. Or an unlucky roll of the genetic dice upon character generation.
If you wonder how I got other people to help shave me, well, that was not intentional. Part of it was that I believe my girlfriend at the time wanted to see me and not leave a whole lot to the imagination. ...The other part was that I can't remember who was the second person that was helping me. It was either my best friend who did it on a dare from the then-girlfriend...or my gay friend who had a HUGE crush on me who may have also been dared. Either one, it was a guy and a girl and myself.
...
...That's kinda weird I can't remember though.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Augh... Nair... What bothered me most about Nair was the smell. It works chemically to turn hair rubbery and super fragile and it makes this horrid smell...
I had used a razor elsewhere to uncomfortable results, but I am more knowledgeable and capable now. Mind you the Nair was for my chest, but I have since embraced my rather hairy chest. Elsewhere is still of concern to me, but I can't decide whether I should go for "limited deforestation" or "agent orange". Not that it's the jungles of Vietnam or anything.
I'm single right now though, so, it don't matter too much to me.
Also hey everybody, I'm back (again again again again) and it's good to see new faces.Avatar by Dihan

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Thirteen
Few things...
1. You're all mental What's wrong with just shaving, and if you are talking about shaving, how the buggery do you do it so wrong?!
2. Genitals is a horrible word. "Genitals". Sounds wobbly and leftovery. Like gibblets, or a turkey wattle.
3. To render my #1 hypocrisy, I have an inch-long scar on my ankle from shaving. My family made fun of me for taking ages in the shower. I was trying not to bleed all through my grandparents' bathroom, thanks guys.
4. Australia's defense force has a homophobia drama to go with its ingrained sexismThe Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!
