Re: Bibliography IV
In a more serious note I assumed Ink was made out of old books that had no pages. I just assumed thats why the gang leader wanted them.

Re: Bibliography IV
Fixed that for you.
I got that impression too, which makes me think it's NOT that, and Elagune's planning on throwing us a curveball. In addition, the Monocle guy mentioned that it was better that Raoul was now a title page. Which strikes me as odd, if the codice needs to have no pages for Ink to be extracted.
It's possible that we're assuming too much of Monocle guy, and he simply wants to add as many powerful pages to the gang as possible for something that doesn't even have to do with Ink. And judging from the fact Raoul already knows a spell (Dammit chekov, PULL THE TRIGGER!) and the harpy who's name i forget expressed jealousy towards charlie, title pages get lots of power from their codex.
Tabula Rasa strikes me as a Chekov's gun (for lack of a better phrase) which will reshow itself partway through this story as the real supplier/maker of Ink. Or something similarly sinister.
A minor matter of semantics here - i think you mean whatever produces Ink. Or perhaps Ink is extracted from Relics.Last edited by HalfTangible; 2011-06-26 at 10:38 PM.

Re: Bibliography IV
Epileptic Tree go!
The process of creating ink caused by the death of abyssals. Their reversion to normal is actually the Librarians draining the substance from their bodies so that it can be used to create more abyssals. The Librarians, being the only beings able to control the abyssals stay in power as the police force, and the Pages are unable to reject their leadership for fear of over-powered monsters that used to be their friends, families, and allies, taking over the area.
Eve's dad was close to finding the truth, so he was forcibly injected and then killed to keep him quiet. Fong learned the truth sometime after the war and does not approve, but they have someone (his wife?) hostage, forcing the war hero to use his power for the corrupt organization. He does not want them to know of Ben's relation to him so they have even more hostage power over him.
Meanwhile, certain rebel factions of pages are joining together as gangs to take control from the Librarians, not caring about the possible abyssal storm without their presence. Rival gangs form to stop them from gaining power so they can remain under the corrupt, but stable rule of Librarians. The scene we witnessed with the Codex being stolen was one gang trying to force power in their favor by recruiting an albeit empty codex.
Now that I have ruined Elagune's underlying plot, watch as he struggles to devise a new one.Hoc Dictum Videtur Esse Melius In Latine.

Re: Bibliography IV
Yay, new title page! :D Looks great, Elagune.
Do you draw the title pages for a chapter after it's completed or before you start it? Just wondering.

Re: Bibliography IV
What is this i don't even...
To start with, CHAPTERS rule the page world, the Librarians just police it... it's like the difference between the Legislature (which makes laws) and the Exectuive Branch (which enforces them)
And it makes little sense for the body of Roy to be examined for Ink BY the librarians if they controlled Ink distribution...
I'm sure there's more but i'm too hungry to think straight.Hate me if you want. But that's your issue to fix, not mine.

Re: Bibliography IV
Ah, but you're not thinking like a conspiracy theorist. Roy's Inking may have been an experiment. The evil Librarians might not have known, exactly, how quickly their new hue of ink worked. What's more, they need to keep up appearances.
Regarding the comparison to the branches of the government: which one does the general American populace THINK has more power and control? The executive branch. However, I don't want to take this much further than that, because that's delving into real-world politics and that's not something we want to do.

Re: Bibliography IV
All of them are in on the conspiracy. All the librarians, all of them.
None of them know the others are, too. Their only contact with the conspiracy is by a variety of long-distance communication, with obfuscation systems to hide each conspirator's identity.
To protect their cover, librarians are expected to prove their zeal to the cause by denouncing any mole. Since they don't know they all are moles, they do so by forging evidence against random other librarians.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!
