Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
The pointy, yellow fur hats were Colovian, which is to say from the western parts of Cyrodiil, they weren't Nordic.

All I really hoped for were Horkers, and we GOT 'em! Whoohoo! Not looking forward to reiklings, though, but the new Grahls look cool. I bet Stahlrim armor will look fantastic this time!

What freak thought it would be a good idea to put a spider that big into a first person existence? Harvestman spiders were bad enough.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
Spiders don't bother me all that much in games or reality. I'm not fond of them crawling on me, but generally don't mind their presence otherwise.
I cannot stand centipedes though. Thankfully they seldom end up in games, either because nobody else can stand them or they're a bitch to animate. Millipedes don't bother me at all, but centipedes creep me the hell out.Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,

Down like a dog on the highway,And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I cannot wait for this game. Like I probably get pissed that it's still July pretty much every day.
Can't say I'm very fond of the gigantic spider (not fond of normal sized spiders, let alone giant ones) but I can say that I would enjoy killing it.Avatar by Lycunadari

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I'm still excited for this game. Been playing more RPG's to get excited. Morrowind, Oblivion, the Dungeon Siege series, Dragon Age... I should get the expansion and sequel to Dragon Age.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I just noticed something listening to this on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOb2G...re=artist#t=3m
Elder Scrolls music! It has vibes like that between 3 minutes and 5 minutes, I think.
Specifically, I'm thinking of the Morrowind theme, but I think I heard something much similar in the Skyrim trailer too.
Apparently, Gustav Holst did a lot of good stuff!

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
Does anyone know if this game will have level scaling like the last one?
Also, has anyone heard what the DRM scheme will be on this game yet?Last edited by JadedDM; 2011-07-25 at 09:50 PM.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
No guarantees that I'm remembering this correctly, but I think that it will have the leveling scale, but at a much toned down level. Maybe? It's been a while so I may be misremembering.

leveling in Skyrim
Not entirely sure what DRM schemes are, or I would try to figure that out too...
on a side note, I pre-ordered Skyrim today from my friendly neighborhood GameStop. *uber happy*Avatar by Lycunadari

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I recall reading the leveling system is going to be closer to the one used in Fallout 3 than Oblivion. Apparently, the changes in the skill and attribute system in conjunction with the revamped leveling system will make it MUCH more difficult to create a totally gimped character simply by role-playing the things your character would ACTUALLY do.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
It's more like Fallout 3 is what I keep reading, but I've never played Fallout 3, so what does that mean exactly? Is it scaled but only to a point, like in Dragon Age Origins?
I guess to get right to the point what I really want to know is, will leveling up be punishing in Skyrim like it was in Oblivion?
Also, I'm intensely curious about the DRM if anyone knows. Or has it not been announced yet? I notice gaming companies tend to wait for everyone to preorder it, then announce at the last minute whether it's going to fill your computer with malware or whatever. (Tricksy, they are.)

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I am!
Looks awesome! And hey, even if some of the more extravagant features end up being cut*,it can't possibly be worse than than Morrowind. Not that being better than Morrowind is hard, but still reassuring all the same.
*Note: cutting things because they don't work and lying are not the same thing *cough* Oblivion AI *cough*
Also, I don't think Oblivion had DRM, but I'm not sure.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
I liked Morrowind. More then Oblivion, for sure.
That's besides the point however. Honestly, as long as the leveling and scaling of enemies don't wind up like Oblivion's, then I'm fine. I never want to be in this situation again.

Re: Who's Excited For Skyrim?
My understanding of the leveling in Fallout 3 is that regions were occupied by particular creature types. These increased in level along with you, up to some cut-off point, at which they stopped. In some cases I believe this was the level cap, so some regions were always supposed to be dangerous, but others would become easier as you got more powerful. Random encounters were, I think, always tied to your level, so new characters wouldn't run into stupidly powerful enemies right off the bat, and advanced characters didn't have to waste time fighting giant rats.
I guess to get right to the point what I really want to know is, will leveling up be punishing in Skyrim like it was in Oblivion?
Skyrim, from what I've read, seems to be getting rid of a lot of the derived attribute nonsense, which should make it much easier to keep oneself from getting underpowered.
Also, I'm intensely curious about the DRM if anyone knows. Or has it not been announced yet? I notice gaming companies tend to wait for everyone to preorder it, then announce at the last minute whether it's going to fill your computer with malware or whatever. (Tricksy, they are.)
Worst we're likely to see is probably Steamworks, which, adware like tendencies aside, isn't too horrible.Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
