People who win appliances, cars, new houses in game shows and sweepstakes are often unpleasantly surprised - and sometimes driven into bankruptcy - when they discover they have to pay taxes on the fair market value of what they've won. I would suspect Lt. Potter will be in the same boat. If she refuses to accept the stock, Station better be able to erase any sign he made the transfer at all, or she might get hit with a tax bill anyway.

Yeah I knew about the issues with game show prizes being taxed, I just wasnt sure if something with a variable value like stocks would be the same or not. I mean, when you are dealing with that level of value, every 15 minutes it probably swings several thousand dollars in either direction. So when is the official value assigned? The moment the transfer took place?
