Based on the pictures, I don't even feel the need to look it up on tvtropes.

Watching a giant robot deliver the people's elbow to another giant robot was amongst my favorite childhood memories.
Thank you for posting that.

I'm pretty sure they're spurs. And actually, the poison won't kill you--it will just make you wish you were dead. Excruciating pain that morphine can't deaden, anyone?
They should so make that a DnD monster--they have dugongs in one of the books, for Pelor's sake.

It's about how the poison works. It's not actually pain in the conventional sense but does something else to the nerves that also hurts a lot. I think.

Yeah, it causes the effected pain receptors to start transmitting "I am feeling pain" to your brain. Short of medically-induced coma there isn't anything that can help.

Actually its enough to kill kids, old people or generally sick people. but not healthy adults. and officially the only way to make the pain go away is to completely sever the nerves going to the injection site, no medication helps it.
And the reason the have no DnD stats is that they will break the suspension of disbelief.Last edited by boomwolf; 2012-03-17 at 01:54 PM.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode V: The Demotivator Strikes Back
Except that morphine blocks the brain reception of pain, so it should block that if it was like that. Morphine is the strongest painkiller there is because of that. It acts against all pain.
If morphine doesn't block it, it's because it doesn't go through the usual channels of pain. It's something else.
Or a competitor for the brain receptors that activates them and has higher affinity than morphine. This is what surely it is.Last edited by Admiral Harkov; 2012-03-17 at 03:21 PM.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode V: The Demotivator Strikes Back
Nice.
Hmm, I wonder where the Thraddash would fit. On second thought, I wonder how many different places on the chart the Thraddash would fit if you count each of their various Cultures. Think there's enough variation for all 9 alignments? Feel free to bring in the possible options for the new one the player can start in game.
You know, I just had a thought - with the recent surge in astoundingly successful Kickstarters, someone should see about talking the creators of the game into running a Kickstarter for making Star Control 3.Like 4X (aka Civilization-like) gaming? Know programming? Interested in game development? Take a look.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode V: The Demotivator Strikes Back
i assume this was meant in jest, but i'll treat it seriously. since it just amuses me. i loved SC2.
i usually dislike alignment discussions but the SC game where race= culture does lends itself to the overly simplistic alignment system.
the Orz i'd say are chaotic, probably towards chaotic "WTF"? more than evil. but if i'd have to say it'll be chaotic evil, at least from the impressions i got. (i haven't fully played starcon 3, as it bored me to death. maybe it expanded on them more than the info in SC2 where they had something to do with wiping out the android like race who's name i forgot. )
For Mycon i'd go with lawful neutral (or more correctly- "orderly neutral") as they seem to follow strict patterns, rules and guidlines. there is an argument for neutral evil due to their lack of caring for others and destroying their planets, but again the 3rd game seemed to have some sort of mystery to them which i didn't find out.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode V: The Demotivator Strikes Back
So did I - the reason it was meant in jest is because both are damn near impossible to fit into an alignment system! The Orz are almost completely incomprehensible and what little information you can get about them suggests that they're some kind of Lovecraftian entity from outside space. And the Mycon are so obsessively focused on their terraforming that they're only marginally sapient.
The Umgah and the Druuge would be a lot easier. Pkunk would be fun too.Last edited by Saph; 2012-03-20 at 06:01 AM.
