I think Sonya recognized the contest as the farce that it was and gave Gary the smack he deserved for not manning up.

As for the exit, I'm not sure. Part of me suspects she might have done it to afford Yuki a graceful out so that the mentally ill girl isn't putting herself into situations that aggravate her condition on Sonya's account but is still actually interested in Gary and actually getting one-on-one time of one sort or another in the future.

And she may need to apply meat tenderizer to her face to prevent getting too much of a black eye...

This situation to me is a mix of Sonya expressing her outrage with Gary not bringing these facts to light, but that she's still interested. I certainly see no nothing that implies any S&M leanings.

I must kind of agree with Sonya, here, actually. While it was Sonya who suggested the competition, it was Gary who knew about Yuki's condition, and should have enlightened her about it.

She's basically reasoning it as "Gary went along with the double dates and sex contest, despite knowing Yuki acts the way she does, because he likes to be mistreated."

She basically thinks Yuki wailing on his junk turns him on or something, so she's trying to imitate it in her own way while still making it clear she's still interested.

So we get a smack followed up with a kiss and "Never talk to me again! But I still want you to call me."

I saw it more to do with her inherent inability to stick to her story.

For example, Sonya *knows* that she's not a lesbian and is shocked by the idea that anyone thinks she might be one, denying it even at the vaguest of suggestion.... despite her repeatedly enjoying lesbian trysts with Zii.
This time, she *knows* that she's outraged by Gary and Yuki 'keeping secrets from her' and getting her punched in the eye.... and yet she also knows that Gary is supposed to be a sexual tyrannosaurus, and she's probably not willing to let go of that opportunity despite the wound to her pride.

I actually give him a pass on this one. First off, its hard to think of the right thing to say to a crying woman you dont know. Secondly, he has no idea she has boob issues. Third, it really did sound more like she was calling herself stupid, so trying to convince her otherwise wasnt a bad idea. He just chose the wrong comparison to make. Even though it was understandable considering she brought it up first. Yeah it might have been better to just leave it at, "Im sure your IQ is plenty high." But honestly, to most women, unless they were determined to get offended, they likely wouldnt have been hurt by that comment in my opinion.

Actually I think that this could leading to Gary discovering that Yuki is seeking semi-professional help with her problem. That might actually be a positive development and not just another mess up.
