I feel your pain. I'm 40 years old and my beard is easily an inch and a half long and my moustache doesn't connect to it. I fake it by growing my moustache ends long enough to overlap the beard at the corner of my mouth.

I seem to recall Van Dykes being rather popular with writers, after noticing when Aaron Allston came to do a book signing that there had been a disproportionate number of authors doing book signings at that locale who had van dykes.

I have to ask, and it isn't worth starting a new thread:

Does one of our ads up the top mean that no one else is advertising there? Or does it just mean that we are out bidding them?

(And yes, I realise that many of you may not see the same banner add that I do, the one I see is The OotS gang holding a banner that says "Advertise here!")

I hope that this is the right place and way to ask this question.

Stupid history homework. Listen to a podcast and take notes. Not "Probably should take notes," but "take notes." Even though the number of things I've actually learned in that class can be counted on one hand. I don't even take notes IN CLASS!

If you're being graded on your level of note taking, I really must questio what class you are in.

As it is, taking notes does kinda help, if only so you can have an easier time remembering stuff that you may forget. It should not be forced, however.

You... probably would have some trouble understanding even the starter packages (I did to some minor extent), but I guess it wouldn't be impossible for as long as you understand objects and methods (because of the two completely different approaches to object oriented programming teaching, I'm not sure whether you've gone through this yet or not).

I actually managed to get things to work yesterday. I first had to discover that I shouldn't have put the bot files and the tools directory in different directories, and fix that, whereafter I had to update the command files to reflect the change.

Thereafter, I had to dig deep down into the python library files to find out what caused two different bugs that crashed my bot (it turns out that the basic code doesn't support the character 'Ö', so I had to move everything to another hard drive to avoid having to save it in the folder with my own name on it).

Following that, I managed to proceede quite a bit into the tutorial before my bot started to act completely different from the one in the tutorial, and began to occillate in its movements, so I had to redownload the starter set and update the files to make it work properly again.

Now I'm trying to invent a hierarchical group system to organise my ants under in order to optimise scouting, food gathering and especially combat. It's a bit tricky to design...

    *sigh*
    That's so stupid.

I had a Study Technique lecture a month or two back where we got the assignment to, using a special note-taking style (linear note-taking style 2.0 to be precise), take notes during any lecture of our choice, and then process them, generating at least two pages of processed notes to hand in. I already knew that that style really didn't fit with my personal learning style, so instead it became an exercise in trying to keep up with what the lecturer was talking about as well as writing down pretty much everything that was written in his PowerPoint. Needless to say, I found the assignment to be a pretty bothersome waste of time that I still had to write...
