Re: Australasia in the Playground V
PM me for a price and details on the blade. Victoria's bladelaws are basically as you've described. You have to make it so that people without a license to own and handle it can't get at it. Display is allowed through a locked glass cabinet of a certain thickness, but any locked box is okay for general storing. Unfortunately, that one's back in Queensland, so while you could come pick up the others, that one would have a little extra tacked on to cover postage.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Dang, and here I was hoping I was wrong.
I might need to give it a miss then for now. The place that I'm in is pretty damned small, and getting a proper spec lockable case probably wouldn't fit properly in here.Super cute Catgirl Avatar by Kymme

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I dunno, doesn't need to be too big. Mine's just in a little wood box with a case. Sure, I jacked it up with green velvet and stuff so it looks pretty when I open it, but that's not necessary :p
Oh, wait, you were interested in the claymore. Disregard. It's pretty big.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Cool, I never noticed this thread! Probably because I spend all my time in the OotS forum and never check out the others.
Anyways, I'm from NSW, far North Coast - near Byron Bay.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
It's not that bad. They could be wielding them.
Incidentally... Around how much would one of these swords cost?

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Any other Perth-dwellers affected by the train service going down yesterday?
I ended up early to TAFE for once, since dad heard it on the radio just in time and drove me where I needed to go.
Still sucks for most, though. :/Click to view my dragons and help them grow!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Not being a Perth resident, I can't comment on that.
But I usually manage to avoid train delays here in Brisbane.
Just last week, they lost power at central station on a Tuesday, so to make up for it, they made travel free on the Wednesday, but of course, I never travel on the train on Wednesdays...Mauve Shirt, Savannah, Gnomish Wanderer, Cuthalion and Smuchmuch get cookies for making me avatars. (::)

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
They're probably out of my price range.
And besides, my Mum would probably object to me having a deadly weapon in the house that isn't there to be used for gardening or cooking.Mauve Shirt, Savannah, Gnomish Wanderer, Cuthalion and Smuchmuch get cookies for making me avatars. (::)

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I've been trying to find out from Centrelink if I could lose my Austudy if I move in with my fiance. They haven't given me an answer, any ideas from people who've experienced it? We are saving for the wedding.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
So am I, but that hasn't stopped me from owning one I have a replica of Reepicheep's sword from the Narnia movies - my husband bought it for me because he's awesome
Nope... but then again, neither of us are working at the moment, and even if we were, we aren't on or near any of the train lines. What caused it? I heard it mentioned on the radio, but just assumed it was because of the heat and as we weren't affected, I wasn't curious enough to keep listening.
I think you should be able to... I know Peregrine had Austudy while he was at UWA - we were married and I was working at the time. The only thing I can think of is that it might depend on how much you and your fiance make when your finances are combined. But I'm not sure that a study payment would be affected by that. Peregrine's had a couple of different Centrelink payments over the years we've been married and I confess, I've never paid that much attention to what's what. I'm not eligible (not unless I get citizenship, or I've been in the country for 10 years) so I don't pay attention. He's the money-handler in our relationship anyway.
I do know that we were living together/married, one of us was working (me) and he was getting Austudy payments - so from that I would have to say that no, you wouldn't lose it. But obviously, don't take my word for it - and I wish you luck in getting a straight answer out of Centrelink.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
If you're living together as a couple, both your incomes will be taken into account when determining your payments. You will most likely receive less, but I don't think you'd be likely to get none at all. Just gotta ask *shrug*Use it for gardening and cooking!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I catch the train every weekday to work, but strangely enough it didn't affect me - even though I caught a train right in the middle of the outage. I didn't even know there was a problem until I got to work and was told that people would be in late due to the outages.
A transformer (no, not that sort - the electrical kind) near Perth central caught fire. Being the central train line hub, it affected all the lines.
Stand back while Icarvecleave the roast!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm not on speaking terms with Google at the moment. Besides, if I actually found a place, I'd lost all my rent money paying for bagpipe lessons...

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm trying to teach myself harmonica - after that, I'll be trying my hand at the bugle. Thing is, I'm not terribly musical - at least, not at stringed instruments, keyboards or percussion; which is why I'm trying wind instruments now.
