Wow, that is beautiful! I'm making it my desktop background. The shades of red in its feathers gives me a strong sense memory of how I imagined as a child the cherry-coloured twist of silk used by the Tailor of Gloucester.

Yes! It would.

There are some nice birds in this part of the world. Goldfinches, cardinals, bluejays, and of course -- hummingbirds! I love hummingbirds.

Sometimes. They prefer the neighbour's yard because they love some of the trees in it. But, as far as I know, we only get Rainbow Lorikeets.
They're very noisy and sometimes irritating. Worse than pigeons.

If we're talking Australian birds, my favorite is the Kookaburra who sort of fill the same niche as the magpie. Any animal that kills snakes by banging them hard against a wall is worthy of respect.

Starlings are nice too, but I just love the impish attitude of magpies.

I just spent almost an hour squeeing over pictures of kakapos. They're so big and fat and soft! They're like a big puppy-bird! Look at their fuzzy cheeks! One of my life goals has become to cuddle a kakapo before I die.

That certainly is the case. I particularly like how the ones in my area are reasonably okay with humans such that I'll be walking along and they're still on the ground two metres away.

Ah... Semi-tame Rainbow Lorikeets...
They're rather nice and like to sit on people. Often unexpectedly and without warning. But the ones around here are completely wild.
(They still fight at feeding time if you have a group of them)

Interesting fact, one would not expect it, but despite being so brightly coloured, they're really hard to see when they're amongst foliage!
How do they do it?!?! How can someone be camouflaged when dressed as a rainbow?!
