Ryxikor moves around the hallway to the kitchen without meeting opposition. He sees a sullen-looking person with crimson colored skin and a pair of short horns jutting from his forehead. He wears a shirt of gleaming black mail, and carries a mace worked into the shape of a clawed demonic fist. The elf steps in and buries the sword in the person. Ryxikor senses that the man is harder to hit then he would expect, as if he had some kind of a shield. He also realizes that the cold does not affect the creature.

Savin moves next and swings his spiked chain at the guard. Although the spark on the ground created an impressive effect, the plainsman fails to hit his target.

Quill cracks a joke and fires his wand again, burning the guard badly (<20% HP).

Maesyn stands there, readies to act as needed.

Axara says “Quillmeister, you are indeed impressive. Not only you are good with number, but you also have a great sense of humor. There is hope for you after all. You can still be taught after all. ” Sensing that nothing good is within the wall of this monastery, she starts an incantation to protect herself. “I need to make sure I stay alive to keep them alive. ”

Axara cast Protection from evil on herself

The injured guard starts an incantation. This opens the opportunity for Savin to hit him. He strikes the cyricist hard, dropping him. The second guard moves forward and starts a similar incantation and dark flames appear in the Ebon Spur guard’s hand and engulf the plainsman. Savin feels his essense of life being drained by the negative energy. The ebon guard looks suddenly more stupid than before.

It successfully bites the cleric, even with her protection for evil, although luckily, her armor stops the quill.

Ryxikor slides 5 feet before three swipes with his weapons. The dagger and the short sword bury themselves inside the strange looking man skin, finding weaknesses in his black armor, leaving him quite wounded (<50% HP). He taunts him to fight like a man rather than using magic.

Savin swings his spiked chain twice. The first attempt bounces of the guard harmlessly and the second one flies above his head.

Quill smells the unpleasant odor from the howler and after moving 5 feet, brings in celestial reinforcement in the form of a beetle. The celestial animal nearly connects but misses the steroid porcupine. Quill questions the manhood of the horned warlock.

Maesyn moves in and fires his crossbow at the man with horn but his bolt misses its target.

Axara says “Quillmeister, you should have place your pet across from me for flanking purposes. Did you sleep during your warfare classes? ” She takes her mace and tries to swing it at the howler. However, her swings is poor and she misses the monster.

The guard moves closer to Savin which allows the plainsman an attack. Like the prior two, the warrior failed to his. The guard on the other end is able to hit Savin with his bastard sword.

The horned warlock takes a 5 step move and unleashes another eldritch blast which this time hits Ryxikor. However, the elf is able to avoid the sickness carried by the blast. The man laughs “ You have made a grave mistake, fool! Despayr has room for a few more guests!"

Maesyn loads his crossbow and fires again at the man with horns but his bolt misses its target a second time.

Axara says “Well done Quillmeister! I like your obsession with cows. Is it because of the udder? If yes, I know the perfect person for you. Oh wait, she is a dwarf …. ” She giggles and takes a swing at the howler now that the celestial cow is helping distract the howler. Her swings is great and she hits the monster right on the head (<20% HP).

The guard yells at Savin “Feels the pain of Cyric, you infidel!“However, the plainsman armor deflect the bastard sword.

Ryxikor slides another 5 feet and continues his attacks on the horned man while trying to bait him. Only the first of his attack pierces the armor, which is now totally covered in blood (HP <20%).

Savin moves closer to Axara while trying to hit the Ebon Spur. The guard easily block both of Savin’s attack.

Quill, happy to see his cow do his dirty work, fires a set of magic missile, which brings the howler to the brink of death. The celestial cow finish the job, burying its horns inside the howler belly and lifting it up in the air and throwing it being her.

Maesyn touches the back of Axara and partially heals some of the damages caused by the now dead howler.

The Ebon Spur, seeing suddenly his number reduced to 1, yells “Yield” while getting into a full defense position.

"Well done, my lady." he says as the Mystran cleric kills off the warlock, "But I did have the situation under control." he says with a sheepish grin and a sly wink. "A bit of healing would be appreciated tho." he mentions, as he shows his blood on his armor.

Ryxikor, the elven bounty hunter, known throughout many elvish communities, laughs as he hears the pleas of the guard. Thinking Savin and the others can deal with the Cyricist guard, Ryx sheaths the frost short and organripper, and gathers up the weapons of the other guard and the horned tiefling, placing them under the light in the room. Ryx also searches the guard and warlock for anything else of interest or value. Undrstanding the value of the benefits of the potions and spells, Ryx tries to work fast so they can be off again on their mission.

His familiar Assistant looks disproving at her master.

His facial expression however becomes more serous when he looks at the fallen enemies and the the guard that suddenly becomes more cooperative.

Savin accepts the guard surrender and instructs him to drop his weapon. He lowers his sword and says “Will you me heal my dying friend and Zatharmas?”

Ryxikor, in his usual confidence, jokes with Axara and requests for help. He sheathes his weapon and starts searching the tiefling body. The Ebon Spur guards growls and raises his sword but do not attack. “Stop your grave robber lackey now! Will you let me save my friends?” It is clear that the guard is taken offense at the looting of his fallen comrades.

Axara moves to Ryxikor and touches his face. “Here you go, little elf” She starts and incantation and heals the warrior back to full health.

Quill, after cracking another joke about the cow, approaches Maesyn and Axara and discusses the wisdom of taking a prisoner. Axara responds in a low voice “If we accept his surrender, we cannot get the information we want and then kill him. We could if we find the proper room lock him up with enough food and water and grab him on our back to Cormyr and give him to the purple dragons for judgment. However, this beat up building does not seem to have cells.

While talking, the cleric notices that the one names Zatharmas has stopped bleeding but is still breathing.

Ryxikor, hearing the pleas and the objections of the guard, turns and glares at the man, it's then the guard sees the flash of a dagger in the elf's hand, organripper, "So, you call for 'yield', but then you raise your sword." the elf states matter-of-factly, "Where I'm from, you'd already be lying in your own pool of blood for doing that.".

Stepping around the flipped table, Ryx continues, "If you do want to live, and you want us to let you save your friends, then you need to disarm, throw all your weapons down, and take your armor off. I'm not about to let you save your friends, only to attack us." Ryx stares at the guard, gripping organripper tightly, "And this is not open to debate, your wasting time."

The guard looks at Ryxikor with anger in his eyes "Are you just a brain dead tomb looter?"

He turns his attention to Savin "By the time I take my armor off, they will have bleed to death ....."

Ryx looks at the guard incredulously, and draws his short sword, "Your still armed, relinquish your weapons immediately or die. You can keep your armor on. You don't need your weapons to help your friends."

Ryx then looks at the man, "And just how can you help them?"

Then as a quick after thought, Ryx adds, "Hmm, 'brain dead tomb looter. You know your half right, I am a looter, and this is very likely going to be your tomb. But the brain dead....." The elf's eyes narrow as he glares at the man, so furious, he isn't even sure what to say, "Take care in your words. I don't take kindly to insults. If your another Mhair, I will gut you in an instant."

"And you should know, if we spare your life, we don't know if we should, but if we do, you will walk out of here with no more than regular clothes and shoes on, no arms and armor. Now tell us what you know about Despayr. Show us that you really want to live." Ryx adds, waiting for they're golden tongued half elf to chime in at any moment.

"You should listen to him. Drop your weapon, agree to be bound, and answer our questions truthfully and without hiding details and I will apply what skill I have to save your friend."

Maesyn stays back, as it seems Savin and Ryx have things under control. He'll intervene if they take action against a helpless creature, but this guard hasn't yet surrendered by any reasonable definition of the term.

The tension rises again between Ryxikor and the Ebon Spur. It is clear that the group credibility was damaged by Ryxikor’s actions.

Savin, still ready to strike, urges again the guard to drop his weapon.

Maesyn, stays silent, feeling that the guard has not yield yet.

Finally Axara yells “ Ryxikor, Enough! We are not in the back alley of Calimport, trying to shake a client who roughed one of the girls at Lilly’s Palace*. If we accept his surrender, we treat him with respect.”

The guard hesitates before dropping his sword, pulling out a potion and starting to walk where the dying Ebon spur.

The celestial cow bows to Quill before returning to its celestial pastures.

Axara approaches Ryxikor and whispers “You are on Mystra’s business. You need to behave. This is not the underdark. Our words matter! If you want to do your dirty business, do it without witness.”

"What? Any of you think I'm a paladin? Ha your definitely wrong. And none of you are either. We're not perfect, but we're definitely better than you, you scum." Ryx says getting frustrated with taking prisoners.

"What in the nine hells is going on here? He is pulling potions out. Am I the only sensible one here? Who knows what the potions are or what else he is hiding."

So frustrated he can't control himself, Ryx walks off to make sure nobody else is hiding anywhere around. "You handle this then." he says as he dismisses the others with a wave of his hand.
