To tide us over until the comic returns from the break, Ashley wrote the scene in which Duane meets Leysa.

The break is over! It is time. Is it me or is Stockyard jealous? Those eels, might be getting something really big for a snack.

There isn't much talk about this comic, for some reason, despite its remarkable quality and consistent update schedule. It's a shame. It looks like we're headed for an unlikely team-up between Quigley and Sette. Duane is currently in no state to team up with anyone. But then, I think things are shaping up to shake his world-view a little bit. He can't hide from his homeland anymore, since it came knocking. Hopefully we'll find out the whole story behind his death and reanimation. I have a feeling he knows, or at least suspects, more than he told Sette.

Yeah, I don't know what it is either. It's a great comic; I just can't think of anything to say that couldn't be figured out by reading it.

I think Duane's recent past is a veritable gold mine for wild speculation, myself. It's obvious that his death wasn't the work of only Crescians - one of the attackers calls him "pissmop", which is an Aldish slur. Another is worried about mutilating a priest, which a Gefendur Crescian wouldn't care about. Finally, what little we see of the face of the assassin with the spell-slicing dagger isn't very Crescian. It looked more like a Bronze caste Aldishman to me. Then there's the fact that Winalils knows of him and wants to haul him back to Alderode. At this point I think he was a crucial part of whatever big conspiracy is brewing, and he was selected because he was an exceptionally talented tacit caster - but also a Soud in a position beyond his station, so nobody would raise much of a fuss if he up and died.

I think he knows it, or at least suspects it, which is why he fled Alderode - but he didn't tell Sette about it, because he's in denial. He went to Shartreshane to hide from the truth, explaining his state to himself as God's punishment for some unknown transgression.

In more recent and less grimdark news... butts. Lots of them. Poor Quigley. He's a jackass, but he doesn't deserve that.

I've gotten a lot out of this thread, beyond from it introducing me to the comic in the first place. Some things pointed out that I hadn't noticed on my own.

Well, I meant that I, personally, have trouble thinking of things to say that aren't obvious. As evidenced elsewhere in the thread, other people have found things to say that I never would have thought of.

I was half way expecting when he said he wasn't interested in boobs. But then the butt-erflies? I wasn't expecting that. Quigley's expression/reaction was priceless.

Everyone's expression/reaction on that page is priceless. Quigley's face of surprised dread in panel three is a thing of beauty, though.

And then two strips of Quigley looking sufficiently badass. Sometimes, it's the little things.

Looks like Elka's been through a rough patch. I wonder how Elan is faring, and whether they'll go free Sette and Duane. They do have common enemies, and need every advantage they can get. That would be one heck of a team.

A team composed of Toma, Elka, Duane, Sette and Quigley would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. Something tells me we won't see them all working together, though.

Duane top, Quig mid, Sette jungle, Toma/Elka bot. Sounds like a winning team to me.

Cut on cheek is still visible, and I imagine the punch to the face caused the swelling.

I thought she'd lost it at first, but now that we got a closer look at her face, it seems it's just swollen. Quigley and Elka took the wrong conclusion from Sette's absence. Looks like she might not be looking for a rescue from this direction.

The author said on her blog that she's dreaming, and it'll become obvious on the next page. I'm pretty certain it's also going to become even creepier. What we saw of Sette's relationship with her father, underneath all the rationalizations and self-deceptions was... grim.
