Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
It's really an amazing visual novel, isn't it? I was recommended it by one of my best friends, and it's impossible to hate. Each character's story is just so well done, it makes you cry.
I did cry. Multiple times.
Such. An. Awesome. Game. I use the theme for Windows 7, because I get a Rin-Cycle bin.
A Rin-Cycle bin.
RINCYCLE BIN.Steam username is Triscuitable.
I got VAC banned in COD: Ghosts for using an FOV changer.
I try not to think of how sad that is.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
I'll see if I can make one, but I don't have my sewing machine with me ATM.
And all I wear pants-wise is boxers and really loose jeans because otherwise I can't stand it to the point of scratching uncontrollably.
Also, I apparently have sound into color synesthesia. I thought everyone else saw the colors, too.Last edited by TechnoScrabble; 2012-03-06 at 08:04 PM.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
I start to think that I'm polysexual rather than bisexual. It just makes sense to me. Claiming to like "both women and men" start to feel like saying *just* (cisgender) women and (cisgender) men, and that is not true as far as I'm concerned.
SpoilerAh, yeah, I forgot that European history is rather complex as well... Just look at the Habsburgs, and later, the Austro-Hungarian Empire... Or the various German states... Or poor Poland...
Early India sounds interesting, especially the time before the Aryan invasion(s)... AFAIK, the caste system came with the Aryans. Unfortunately, beside what I know about India which stems from what I know about the various religions that originates there, I know mostly about the Moguls and the British Empire. No offence intended, Indians.
Spoiler... Maybe I should start with learning about the earliest-recorded civilizations in the world, and study my way up from there... @_@SpoilerGreat idea! I find Mesopotamia to be quite interesting, as well as the rest of the The Fertile Crescent/"The Cradle of Civilization".
SpoilerI was referring to that coating what's on magazines/comics/some book covers, though now that I think of it I'm not quite sure if that's actually called "laminate"...
It's been pretty popular since its invention (about a century ago, if I remember correctly) for making paper durable and pretty. It's also had a pretty dramatic effect on other things (for example, the magazines ended up being smooth enough that toilet paper had to be invented).
Spoiler*Hugs* (Sorry if I actually sounded confrontational - I really can see where that'd be awkward.)SpoilerIt's okay, I wasn't offended or anything... I'm just... I dunno... Not *completely* sure of my gender role/gender identity? I could get more elaborate, but I would need to check the rules for posting to be sure I wouldn't break them, and I'm not lucid enough for that right now. I also feel like I'm inadvertently making fun of transgender persons, because my "issues" are so small in comparison. ._.
SpoilerI actually had trouble telling his gender, but I usually just abstain from making any assumptions when I can't tell (androgyny is so adorable! ).SpoilerYeah, intellectually, that is what I *try* or *aim* for: not making assumptions. But even when I try to not make assumptions, I still do.
Like when I asked my sister about who were the "friend" of her friend (who I am acquainted with), and she curtly told me that he was his boyfriend. Back then, I thought it would have been presumptuous to think that it would have to be a sexual or romantic relationship, despite that I could see that they were very close. ._.
SpoilerIt's worth noting, though, that your own assumption was better than it sounds - he looks male enough to look male-bodied, right?SpoilerWell... I guess that is something. ._.
It's word that doesn't mean the same to all, I'm afraid. Not to mention that intellectuals and pundits argue over levels and/or different sorts of egalitarianism. For example, read or check up the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. Or watch Pixar's/Brad Bird's The Incredibles.
Yes you are.
Then again... ._.
SpoilerI have a... preference for multi-limbed aliens, so you could blame me for having a bias.
You don't happen to have tusks as well? I like tusks... Darn you Edgar Rice Burroughs and Rich Burlew... ._.Last edited by H Birchgrove; 2012-03-06 at 08:34 PM.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
H Birchgrove: On the other hand, claiming that bisexual = only likes cis is also untrue.
Have you investigated various different fabrics and detergents? Have you made sure you're wearing clothing that is not too tight or too loose?
You would've learned about it grade school if that were so, no?
Schoolhouse rock would've had an awesome technicolor light show of a song about it, at the very least.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
That's... an oddly specific thing given humanity's record of contact with aliens. Anyway, no. No tusks. No teeth, in fact. On the plus side, prehensile tongue. I know it doesn't sound that great, but I promise you it has its uses. Especially tied with the "no hard or sharp objects in the mouth."
I'm pretty sure given media records though that seeing my original body would set off a primal fear response rather than any other primal responses, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
I've been trying most of life. Jeans and boxers just chafe the least.
It prolly doesn't help that during the time period I was living in Ireland, it was legal in my district to go about naked as long as nobody complained and I lived in a rural area. The few people who lived nearby didn't care, and my parents weren't usually home.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
Indeed, what you say is true.
At the very least, I have been given conflicting opinions in this matter.
According to Wikipedia, bisexual can mean "liking cis men and cis women" and "liking cis women and trans women" (or "liking cis men and trans men").
Natalie Reed, who's opinion I respect and usually agree with, thinks that hetero men can like both cis women and trans women and still be hetero.
I think I side with Natalie on this, but when you add two-spirit persons, cross-dressing persons, androgynous persons, etc gender identities, it all seems to be too complex for just bisexuality.
I dunno.
While the stick figure art may not fairly portray your physique, I'm still giving you a chance.Last edited by H Birchgrove; 2012-03-06 at 09:15 PM.

Wait, I don't even see how it can be trolling this time. That's...not a good pun. It's terrible. It's not even funny. And doing it visually makes it look like you want people with disabilities to be thrown away.
I defended the GAME as treating the subject of people with disabilities pretty well, but a lot of the fan-produced images are horrible and offensive.Cobra Avatar by the lovely Miss Nobody.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
I do! (Sorry, I was busy perfecting my awesome new pair of double-layered sunglasses. )
Technically it only implies attraction to both sexes - this could easily be interpreted to mean 'either' and 'any combination'.
I'm pretty sure that Pansexual already has that covered, though.
SpoilerI think I might actually start using Pan' instead of Bi' - I'm no longer quite so freaked out by vaginas (:relievedsigh:), and I'm pretty sure that I'd react to them about the same way on males as females (much as I already did with their masculine equivalent).
Well, maybe the Internet isn't the best test for this, but at least I know I've made progress.
No offence intended, Indians.
SpoilerGreat idea! I find Mesopotamia to be quite interesting, as well as the rest of the The Fertile Crescent/"The Cradle of Civilization".SpoilerYep.
It also happens that Old-Kingdom Egypt is one of my favorite civilizations - that should help draw parallels and whatnot.
Why yes... It appear that I do.
SpoilerIt's okay, I wasn't offended or anything... I'm just... I dunno... Not *completely* sure of my gender role/gender identity? I could get more elaborate, but I would need to check the rules for posting to be sure I wouldn't break them, and I'm not lucid enough for that right now. I also feel like I'm inadvertently making fun of transgender persons, because my "issues" are so small in comparison. ._.Spoiler*Hugs* If it's bothering you, it's important. I'm sure you can post about it (even really explicit things can be toned down through careful wording), but if you'd rather you can PM me.
SpoilerYeah, intellectually, that is what I *try* or *aim* for: not making assumptions. But even when I try to not make assumptions, I still do.
Like when I asked my sister about who were the "friend" of her friend (who I am acquainted with), and she curtly told me that he was his boyfriend. Back then, I thought it would have been presumptuous to think that it would have to be a sexual or romantic relationship, despite that I could see that they were very close. ._.SpoilerActually, I did think that he was a transwoman for a bit, but I paused to play Bioshock for a bit and realized that I didn't know.
There's nothing wrong with making assumptions here or there (in fact, they're probably a factor of our ability to recognize patterns), as long as you don't also assume that you're always right. People tend to assume that all assumptions are bad, but... Well, there's a bit of a catch in that logic.
Yes you are.
Then again... ._.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
Ooooo, damn. Cultural assumption of male as default strikes again... Sorry dudette, I must confess to making that mistake too.
To be fair, though, how were we to know which pronouns to use? Male or female, it'd just be a lucky guess (unless you said so elsewhere, which is possible). The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
H Birchgrove:
SpoilerThe fact that there are conflicting opinions should tell you something about the people who are trying to dictate sexuality to others and forbid bisexuals from liking trans individuals. It should tell you even more about the people who, whether by accident or malice paint those who don't adopt the pansexual label as bigots.
That's not in the English language article on wikipedia in the definitions section or the firs half of it which I have read, and, indeed, bisexual as a definition as I've seen it has never delved into cis or trans vocabulary except when necessitated by arguments made by pansexual individuals.
Certainly someone who likes only women, whether they be cis or trans could use the label, but then again, there are men who regularly seek out and choose to engage in sex with other men for pleasure who will identify as straight until they're blue in the face.
Indeed, in the same way there can be bisexuals who like cismen, transwomen, and ciswomen but don't like transmen and so on.
I would urge you to be very careful in how you proceed here and how you voice it. What you've said here already has a great potential to turn into something insulting here, or just read as already being insulting from the implications it carries.
Really, in general from what I've experienced of people who aren't bigots whose perspective is ignorant or actively counterproductive, cross-dressing and androgyny should not be taken to determine whether someone is straight or gay, or even really be a factor as far as one's sexuality's identity but more along the lines of preferences and kinks on the level below that, and thusly should not be even implied to be what determines whether someone is bisexual.

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
She hasn't mentioned her gender, but she did call Tri out on assuming male in the previous thread. I'd say it's probably a good idea to use "s/he" and other such 'slashed' pronouns in writing.
Also, *hugs Sun* (partially because I always hug new trans* posters ). Have you been in IGB yet (if so, how'd it go)?
(... I really don't want to get into the argument itself, but this doesn't even look like it's about the game anymore... Could you both just agree to disagree, or something? Tri isn't marginalizing the handicapped and Sun isn't a troll, so character shouldn't even factor in. :/)

Re: LGBTAitP - Part 21: BLACKJACK!
I remember your saying that it irked you that people always assume "male" first. I didn't really peg you as female, but either as "devil's advocate or possibly not male". So I just went with "he". Not because I thought you a male, per se, but because that's the pronoun I use in my native tongue for gender-neutral. Like in English, it also happens to be the male pronoun. My mind's kind of wired to speak that way, sorry.

Would that be a Knazibble clad in naught but precious jewels?
I could live with that for a while, for the right alien.
Galahs are gorgeous and cute, and I love the shirt-suit colour combo, but I'm having trouble imagining a necktie that would accompany it.
