    Pretty much.

Still very angry at Revolver though (who are releasing Iron Sky in Cinemas in Britain). Iron Sky will be able to be seen on the 23rd, and that's it. -.- which is a bad date for me to go see it.

At least it was entertaining; this is what, unfortunately, few movies do nowadays, truly entertain us.

Ah, it's been ages since I've played Battleship; we mostly play Beership.

The anime watcher in me wants to know what, apart from presumably the lack of mecha, differentiates Iron Sky from stuff like Mobile Suit Gundam, Metal Armour Dragonar and a few others that can be summed up in roughly the same way...

No. No yay subversion. Boo Warner Brothers (I think that's who did it) for even thinking it was remotely good idea to do a multifilm Hasbro tie-in.

I didn't see any Warner Bros logo during the movie. And it really was a good movie, so I think it was atleast a decent idea.

Another game of DOTA 2, but this time we got slaughtered. We were reduced to only our final layer of defences, and we were barely keeping them protected.

We did get organised and managed to kill Roshan, but we were still being kept on the backfoot. They were organised and kept killing far too many of us at each encounter.

Eventually I saw an opportunity where they weren't engaging and we were all fully healed, so I commanded everyone to push down the middle lane. We managed to get all the way through and take their ancient down by 1/4 health, before pretty much our entire team was wiped out (I think one managed to run away).

Then it was their turn to push, they pushed through the top lane and removed the last layer of defence, but didn't get to our ancient.

We grouped again and took out Roshan a second time. I then ordered another push down the middle lane. We killed many of their heroes, and reduced their ancient's health down a fair way, but many of us died and a couple of us, myself included, managed to limp away on low health and our tails between our legs.

I decided to use items to heal rather than return to the base and we were readying to form another push, when suddenly we hear the victory chant. Not a single one of our heroes was anywhere near the base, and at least some of their heroes were close to us. But, somehow, they had neglected the creeps that were attacking their ancient.

Yes, their ancient was killed by unassisted creeps.

Of course you didn't. That sort of stuff generally goes before the movie. Though I was wrong. It was Universal. Poor fools, they lost millions on Battleship and they're going to lose even more.

Yeah. Might have to buy me a video once I get me paws on some cash. Or wait till my birthday rolls around in September. Either way, it'll be a bit. *le sigh*

They lost money on it? I'll note that according to TVTropes they didn't lose as much as they WOULD of, because Hasbro was going to punish them for having the movie license and not doing anything with it.

Read this. (Contains some mild swearing.)

EDIT: Should be noted it only opened with 9.5 million. So the article is right.

Interesting. And yes, it is a shame that it's not going to be making much money, because I quite liked it.

My class has plans to go see that movie and MST it if necessary. The one question on my mind is how they work "battleship" into it insofar as the Navy's long since decommissioned all our battleships.

Also what uniform we should wear.

They work it in quite well, actually. Both real life Battleships and the game itself. I repeat, the alien's main missle weapons are shaped like pegs strait from the board game. And it is glorious.

Decommissioned doesn't equal scrapped, and in the case you can't find any true battleship, no one (except anyone who knows anything worth mentioning about 20th century warships) will notice the difference if you sneak in a cruiser or a destroyer instead (I mean, the Japanese didn't). This is common practice with tanks in movies, and especially the famous Tiger, seeing as there is but one single fully functional Tiger left in the world today, but the Pzkpfw IV is similar enough that most people won't be able to tell the difference. It's sad, but true.

but... the PzIV and the Tiger I look completely different! The Tiger I is twice the weight!
And the King Tiger is COMPLETELY different, and not even comparable!

Next you'll be saying laypeople don't know the difference between a PzIV and a PzIII.

At least nobody's gonna mistake a StuG or Jagd of any design for a Pz, Panther, or Tiger.

Size matters less than you think when you pass the line of "OMG it's huge!". Especially when most of your viewers have no sense of scale whatsoever to start with. That said, I'm more worried about the turret. Unless they make their own mock-up turrets, that is.

Also, no one makes movies with a Königstiger and call it an ordinary Tiger, because there aren't enough Königstigers for you to do that, and it's stupid. And no one makes a movie with Königstigers, because the common people have no idea of what that is.

And to be honest, I'm a bit afraid that a majority of the laypeople won't be able to tell the difference between a Tiger and a Sherman if you remove the paintjobs...

Lets face it, most people have no clue what the differences are between a Battleship and a Battlecruiser when it comes down to it, and some of them aren't even too clear on the differences between a fighter aircraft and a bomber...

That is correct, since the USA has only ever completed one class of Battlecruiser (being the Alaska class), of which the USS Missouri was not a part.
