Mithril looked up sharply upon hearing Natalia. Peering at the figures she tried to figure out if she had read about them. "I could attempt a message if we got close enough. But what would I say?" She stroked Whiskers nervously, whoever these people were she didn't want to anger them.

"They know we're here, talk before fighting? Get a clue from them?" Natalia is not the person you want to ask for diplomatic matters, and she knows it.

Shiny rushes to his gear to grab his crossbow, though he takes a little longer to find it with the eyepatch obscuring half his field of vision.

His calm fracturing, "It's as if she is being pulled into shore, we are losing ground. Get your weapons ready, we are nearing javelin range. They may swim out and board. If they take us, they are after our cargo more than our lives."

The crew is frantically trying to turn the small vessel. Some are checking the ship for problems. Each has made sure they had at least a small knife with them.

The ship is almost within 90ft of shore. I will need an initiative roll, and a description of your last pre initiative action. Ie, everyone can take a full action before any combat begins to move, draw weapons, or both, etc.

Kurt

Kurt had managed to doze off before being rudely awakened by shouting. He loads his crossbow and makes himself ready to defend the ship.

Natalia draws her rapier and hand crossbow, which is loaded. Paling as she looks at the lizardmen assembled onshore, she shouts to Mithril, "Scare off, or something! Trick them into telling how we're here!"

Natalia then runs to take cover behind the storage, if it's possible, and looks at the water, to see if there are ropes or something dragging them in--and if there are, can they be cut?

Miriam is trying to analyze the situation to lower her confusion "Captain, how could the lizardfolks attract the boat toward the shore? Could they be using magic? Have you faced them before?"

She looks at the group. "Kurt, if they get on board, I will make you big, real big to allow you to take down as many as needed and don't worry about them hitting you, I will be in the back of you healing you. Natalia, Mithril, Shiny, if they get on board, you take the higher group or go hide. You are not equipped for melee combat. I can create an obscuring mist to give us some cover. I think that making the boat slip and fall for them (OOC: using Grease) would be a good idea. But ultimately, if you could avoid the ship going ashore, it would be best. But I do not know how."

She grabs and loads her crossbow, murmuring a prayer to St. Cuthbert.

Natalia loads her light crossbow, leaving the loaded handcrossbow and rapier by her side for easy reach. She looks at whatever side of the ship is closest to shore, to see if she can spot something dragging there.

Lizardmen? In a split second Valen realized that they were in danger, standing with a much practice motion he crossed his arms in a defensive posture murmuring in Draconic, using his inate power to renew the arcane protections surrounding his body. Once complete, he picks up his massive polished blade and slings his sturdy bow and quiver to his back while moving to defend the vessel

"Be ready, Mithril, protect yourself or take cover."

On the shore the group can see a handful of hulking forms, humanoid with long tails. Some small ones are armed with nothing but a light shield, javelins, and their thick hides and claws. Other larger ones are holding heavier shields, javelins, and other assortments of nasty looking weapons.

There is one very large Lizard off in the distance, he appears to be directing the attack.

A lizard king is a special lizardmen born every couple of generations, they are physically and mentally superior to their smaller brethren. They are born to lead and often do for a couple of generations.

"Where are you hiding now, ye scurvy wretches?" shouts Shiny. With the utterly unnecessary eyepatch blocking his vision, it takes Shiny a couple of seconds to figure out that he's peering off the wrong side of the ship, into the open sea.

Undaunted and unembarrassed, he vaults over to the starboard side, and again places his crossbow along the railing.

With a thack Natalia's crossbow loosed the first bolt into the murky water...a whip nap responded as a rope was nicked, and then a second later snapped leaving only two ropes holding the sea anchor in place.

The sea anchor has been weakened, two ropes remaining. The are AC 15. You still need to spot them to shoot them.

Kurt is up, then some lizards, then all allied forces will move at once in a block initiate to move things along. until the next set of lizards.

Natalia points to the rope she snapped trailing in the moonsea behind the boat. "There," she says to her friend, as well as everyone else on the boat who can't seem to find them. "Two more close by!" As she found and broke the first rope, Natalia can use that to discern the relative location of the two other ropes. She can see the way that they disturb the water, and where the broken rope links to the intact ones.

Natalia reloads her crossbow. She also takes out her mage armor potion and hands it to Mithril, saying, "Just in case. Don't get hurt...please."
