IC Toes in the Water

Natalia snarls at Morton's outburst, but holds her tongue. She turns to Miriam and says, "show him, beat him at his best. Make him apologize when he sees. Dont deserve that."

She says to the mayor, "Fake our location, light here, us there."

To Ntalia, "You'll be a mile away, I doubt we will be able to convince them of a ruse."

[Admiral]

Shiny returns to the group, his expression no different than when he left. "Let's get moving."

With a gesture he starts heading off in the direction they'd come from.

Kurt nods with a choked sound of agreement. "Lead the way."

Miriam gives a forced smile to Natalia. 'Don'tr worry. I have heard worse things from the like of him. One day he will need me and he will have to eat his words ... Let's go and make sure this orc encounter is only a raiding party. '

She turns towards the Barbarian Dwarf 'Kurt, you lead the way. And please no rushing to the enemy unless we all rush ....'

With Shiny's return the group begins moving, quickly heading down the road to the spot where the orcs were last seen. The light of day is fading quickly.....

Kurt grins a bit. "I can hardly know if you're all rushing after me if I'm in front. I'll just trust ye." His helmet is on tighter than usual, cutting off the sounds of the outside world, as he keeps his eyes on the road as well, trying to keep quiet and to the shade, doing a pretty okay job for a clanky dwarf.

Miriam and Valen's clanking armor makes it hard for her to hear what's going on, but her eyes are decent even in the failing light, and her black hair and brown jacket make her nearly invisible in the darkening woods. Motioning to the rest of the group, she breaks off slightly from them, hoping that she at least can catch the orcs by surprise. Natalia looks to Miriam and Mithril as she separates slightly from them, seeing if they hear anything she doesn't so they can warn her.

The two soldiers from town attempt to sneak with the group while Natalia silently disappears off of the road... It's a sad state of affairs when these two were the best the Mayor could offer.

The moment he hears the two soldiers clumsily trying to shuffle off with Natalia, Shiny snaps his fingers quietly to stop them. He turns toward Valen and gives a head tilt.

Taking his cue from Shiny, Valen moves off to cover Natalia, Greatsword in hand...

Natalia notices Valen covering her. Though Shiny was a bit more stealthy, Valen's physically stronger and better able to go one-on-one against orcs. She again slips into the shadows and out of sight, almost impossible to see or hear.

[Zman]

The main group moves up the road, not five minutes outside of town, making little effort to be quiet. The road slowly bends gradually to the left around a large outcropping of rocks maybe ten feet tall.

Anyone that beat a DC 15 Listen check can hear something around the bend out of sight behind the rocks, unfortunately Spot checks won't help.

Natalia and Valen are still within sight, maybe 50ft away, off the road in a position to flank the rocks.

There will be a map eventually...

Natalia looks to see the reactions of her friends by the rocks, to see if they can hear or see something she can't from her angle. She moves a little bit closer, about 20 feet, so she can get there in seconds if she has to.

(So Natalia's 30 feet away from the rocks, she can get there and attack in a single round. And still be invisible.)

[Zman]

A sudden tension fills the air as most of the group members stop, hearing the presence of others. Its doubtful that they aren't aware of your presence.

For Natalia, when Initiative is rolled, you will be able to sneak attack for the first turn against any Orc whose Initiative you beat.

Stopping, Valen points to his ear, and holds up 2 fingers pointing towards the rock outcropping.

Natalia inches forward, her rapier and light crossbow already loaded and drawn. She's all but invisible to the orcs and she knows it.

Natalia bursts out from the undergrowth and scrambles on top of the rock, attacking the nearest orc with her hand crossbow, taking it by surprise.

(Of course, it's all moot if I miss...)

Even if I barely did any damage, I still did 8-13 depending on whether or not the crossbow bolt hit!

After she attacks, Natalia takes cover behind a tree if possible (+2 to AC, +1 to reflex saves)

The crossbow bolt hits home, taking the orc completely by surprise! It slams into the orc's chest and it goes down.

Natalia pumps a fist in the air as the crossbow bolt fells the orc; she makes a mental note to thank Mithril later. One down, five to go, and that was one of the weaker ones.

Miriam is embarrassed with all the clanking noise she makes. When Shiny comments, she snaps back 'I am sorry, OK? I am not making all that ruckus in purpose. This not high quality armor but I need it. Who will keep you alive if I go down?'


Miriam see the orcs. Some old veterans and some young ones. '[i[When will they stop glorifying war and death? Are they that much in a hurry to join Gruumsh?'

She focus on the perceived leader, loads her crossbow and shot.

Orc Pups

In response to the quick and deadly rogue, the two remaining adolecents move to attack Natalia... the first nimbly moving along the rocks and dealing a nasty gash to the young rogue. The other can't move quickly enough through the brush and wild terrain to reach her and scowls menacingly.

The young orcs wear little besides their weapons, a greataxe and falchion respectively.

Orcs

The first of the mature Orcs leaps onto the rocks and attempts to deal death from above as he attacks Kurt from an advantageous position... but he slips and falls, swinging wildely from the ground.

The second moves around the rocks to attack Kurt from the front... and his mighty Axe fails to connect with the surprisingly reactive Kurt.

The mature orcs are wearing what looks like studded leather armor, terrible condition, both wield great axes.

The veteran and leader of the raiding party moves around, building himself into a rage before swinging wildly at Kurt with his jagged looking Falchion.

He is wearing what looks like finely crafted Hide armor, finely crafted for an Orc.
