Lake- Yuki

Yuki pokes and prods the chest for awhile. She sees the lock but doesn't even think to try and pick it. But she is actually pretty thorough in her search and she somehow manages to find the key. She grins and tries to unlock the chest to see what is inside.

It's quite a large stonefish, too.

I don't know much about the antivenin for stonefish, but I do know that some antivenins are, in and of themselves, toxic, and therefore identification as to what did the biting is often incredibly important when it comes to counteracting the poison.

Inside the chest are four large, leather-bound ledgers, two bottles of ink- one black squid ink, one a bright green Alchemical concoction, an albatross-feather quill, a tightly stoppered glass bottle containing a tightly furled scroll, a small crossbow that's been disassembled and is designed for easy reassembly, a leather quiver of bone-tipped quarrels, three different-sized knives, a ball of tar-soaked string, a small wooden box filled with matches, a machete and a rather fragile looking device designed to remove the salt from sea water through a mixture of magic and technology; unfortunately, one of the glass bulbs has shattered.

Yuki carefully looks over each item before reaching out and grabbing the ledgers briefly opening them up to see what is inside.

The ledgers are full of names, a genealogical record of births, deaths and marriages. All of the names in three books, and most of those in the fourth (over half of which is blank), have a small, green cross next to them. However, the alphabet used isn't the one this post is written in; it's only possible to determine that they're names because of the lines linking each, showing the family relations.

Yuki stows the ledgers back where they were and closes the chest putting the key back in its compartment. She figures she will collect some more stuff that floated up and goes back to the lake going back for the sack with the heavy thing in it.

The sack's ripped- taking it without whatever it is falling out will be difficult. Also, the sack's not nearly as heavy as the chest; most of what was inside fell out after it was ripped and now lies at the bottom of the lake, which makes it easier to move without anything else falling out. Speaking of falling out, there's a large, shiny yellow object resting on the lake's floor near the sack- a large gold coin. Three more are inside the sack.

Yuki reaches down picking up the gold coins carefully and bringing them and the sack up to the shore to be set next to the chest. She flips the coin over in her hand looking it over.

On one side of the coin is the profile of an elf-child, with more words in the language of the ledgers around the edge- presumably, the child's name, title, and the date the coin was minted. On the other side of the coin is an image of an immense palace. The other coins are the same in style, though the wording is often different and one has the profile of an elderly elf instead of the child.

Yuki looks over each of the coins and then sets them aside on shore before going to roll the barrels up on shore. She will try and tip each up so she can take off the top and try to pry them open to see what is inside.

One of the barrels is full of ship's biscuits, complete with weevils and other associated invertebrates. Another barrel has bolts of cloth inside it; some are water-damaged- the barrel wasn't quite water tight. The third barrel, judging by the slosh, is half-full of either water or another liquid- judging by the smell, whiskey. The fourth barrel has five walrus tusks inside it.

Yuki goes back to get the ballista bolts out of the water as well. She will then start to pull the various debris out setting them on the shore sorting it as best she can.

When the Sea Elf boy wakes up, he'll be pleased to know what Yuki's doing.

Most of the wood is in good condition- there's very few shipborers, barnacles or other signs of extensive travel in the ocean. Of course, the part of the ship actually submerged probably went under the sea without crossing the portal that led to the flotsam here, but even so. The ship's either recently been cleaned or has some kind of protection against such ship-damaging sealife. Or both.

Brinika did indeed sing at the wedding. Right now, she beams but shakes her head.
"I did take some music lessons, once." Off-screen in the now dead school thread. "But mostly I learn by myself."

"Hmm. Have you met Julie? She lives here at GLoG, and she's a good singer. Maybe she could teach you." Justin suggests.

Yuki had been lacking any sense of what to do. This little self appointed task keeps her busy which is all she wants right now.

At the Entrance of the GLoG Compound

Andy may be one of the guy's who are able to break out.

"Ok. I think it's best to care for things soon. Let's see what we can do."

Andy will ask him to follow. He will ttry to find Quinn or Reelshka. Hopefully one of them has some time.

Entering GLoG Grounds

I'm sure lots of people could break out in this super-powered Nexus. Levi just hasn't seen many of those people yet. (Correction: He's now seen Andy. But he doesn't know that he can break out yet.)

To Levi, pretty much anyone who can break out of handcuffs is a very experienced soldier and warrior, and deserves immense respect.

He nods, and then follows Andy.

As he walks, his cape continues to blow dramatically in the wind.

"Mhm. I'll show you." Vasi climbs down from the picnic table to sit in the dirt, as comfortable there as any child. She takes a stick and writes 1 2 3. "This is one. This one is two. And this is three. You can write all of the numbers."

Keo gets to the ground and looks at the 1 2 3. "What's four,m? And five,m?"

"It still has those sharp things in it," Sophie says. Clearly, Salix is not the one to listen to adults. "And it's hard to explain what magic is. Someone else could do it better than I could."

[Main Cabin]

"I know Miss Julie! She has two really cute babies. But I had no idea she was a singer. Do you think she'd teach me?" Brinika asks.

[Gullara]

[Lake]

"Oh yeah." Salix is quickly distracted from her pondering of what magic is. "I wanted to get one of these things out, but they're stuck." She gets on her knees to try and tug at an arrow again, with about as much luck as before.

Keo gets to the ground and looks at the 1 2 3. "What's four,m? And five,m?"

Vasi goes on to instruct Keo in all the digits, and then how they are combined to make numbers 10 and above. I'm going to defer to character experience here and say that Vasi is a lot better at teaching children their numbers than I am at trying to write out how it's done. Keo's sharp enough that it probably goes quickly, especially since she's already had similar instruction with using the alphabet to create words.

Keo loves it, and is quickly counting on the ground. She's a bit distractable, but never stays distracted long. After a bit she'll start marking down how many "picnik tabel"s there are in the campground, and of course is receptive to directions how to spell better.

Vasi will work with her as long as she's interested. Eventually, the little catgirl will probably want a break for hunting or eating or something a little less intellectually challenging.

Well, her task might take her close to where Salix and Sophie are messing around with a capsized dugout canoe.

Probably a good thing that they can't be removed; arrows have points. Especially these ones- they're barbed war arrows, though that's hard to determine as their heads are embedded in the boat. Unless either guess that they're barbed war arrows because they aren't coming free, or assumes from the barbed head on the ballista bolts.

"That they are. I guess I'll have to ask someone to get all this stuff ashore. No use letting it float here," Sophie says. "When that elf you mentioned wakes up we can ask him what happened to it."

"I know Miss Julie! She has two really cute babies. But I had no idea she was a singer. Do you think she'd teach me?" Brinika asks.

"Maybe. If she isn't too busy with her babies, that is." Justin answers. "It'd be worth asking. The worst she could do is say no."

"Whatcha gonna do with all this stuff?" Salix asks, ceasing her efforts yet again. She doesn't want it to disappear before she's explored it all!

Actually, Keo is showing a surprising amount of long-term attention. However, after some time Keo notices something.

It's a mouse.

Before that mouse knows what's happening, Keo jumps on it, breaks it's neck, and places it next to Vasi.

"Thank'm for the training,m!"

Vasi picks up the mouse by the tail and examines it. "Thank you. Do you cook your food, or eat it raw?"

Lume projects an image of the fish, which (as mentioned earlier) the good doctor may or may not recognize as a stonefish.

It's quite a large stonefish, too.

I don't know much about the antivenin for stonefish, but I do know that some antivenins are, in and of themselves, toxic, and therefore identification as to what did the biting is often incredibly important when it comes to counteracting the poison.

"Stonefish," Quinn observes with a frown, rummaging through the vials of antivenin, selecting one, inserting it into a hypospray, and hisss!.

She uses a small dose, minding the previous neutralise poison spell, and watches for any adverse reactions.
