IC II Toes In The Water

Mithril nodded in acknowledgement and pointed to them and then the orcs, doing the bow drawing motion again. She offered up a short prayer to Boccob before saying the incantation for her arrow spell, aiming it at the orc who seemed the most open. She hoped Henry didn't mind her blowing their hiding spot, but she couldn't risk the orcs attacking her friends. At least they were already perched in a tree, mostly out of harms way.

Outside the Main Entrance

As Mithril let's loose a magical arrow with a brief incantation and gesture, the arrow flies true, catching the Orc in the shoulder and spinning him, but not bringing him down. The Orc lets out a brief howl of surprise and pain.

Mithril, Henry, then the Orcs.

Since Mithril got to go first, her additional damage goes since she cast her spell in the surprise round.

Moments later the persistent corrosive magics continue to eat through the Orcs flesh, finally reaching his nervous system as he falls.

Mithril gestured again, this time coating her body in a protective forcefield. She was surprised how the spell had been, she hadn't seen its full effects when she had used it one the ogres.

Henry

Henry quickly slips out of the tree, drawing his bow as he gets to the ground, "Stay Safe."

Henry moves off about 15' and takes cover behind a tree.

Orcs

As the first of their group falls the two other Orcs turn to engage. Both move forward quickly, drawing worn looking bows off of their backs. The first moves a short distance and also draws a small horn from his belt and let's out three long bursts from the horn. The second moves up, knocking an arrow and looses it at Mithril... It's arrow dropping fast and sticks with a loud thud into the base of the tree.

Natalia turns to Shiny and adds to her previous concerns, "Maybe...Snipe hunt? Have him...chase after shadows?"

Mithril cursed as the horn alerted the area to there presence. Now more orcs would come. Seeing the orc that had shot at her had come within distance of her magic she fired off two arcane orbs straight at it. They speed straight toward the orc ignoring all attempts to avoid them.

After the two orbs of force struck the Orc, Henry fires off an arrow of his own...
It catches the Orc in the guts and it falls quickly... Trying to crawl away.

As Henry's skilled shot fell the second Orc, the third began falling back towards hat can only be the secondary entrance. The Orc, stuck by Henry's arrow slowly crawls away, an arrow in his guts...

Mithril couldn't risk letting the last orc escape. Hurriedly she cast her last spell watching the identical orbs streak through the air toward it.

Henry lofts an arrow attempting to bring down th last Orc... But the arrow misses wide and the wounded Orc scampers away.

Natalia nods, then adds (if the orc can understand Common, then she says this in Draconic), "Kick anthills where none before...Could get swarmed. Ambush of Linwood?"

Shiny nods briskly. "Good question, Natalia Nutnoodle." He turns back to the orc. <Orc>"Have you heard anything of an attack on Linwood happening soon?"</Orc>

Once he hears the answer, he asks another question. <Orc>"Imagine you sounded the alarm out here. How many orcs would come out?"</Orc>

This isn't related to the horn blowing- right now he's interested in setting off an ambush. OOC, with Mithril out of spells, Shiny down two L1s, and the alarm just sounded, it might soon be time to retreat, perhaps fighting along the way.

Orc Bean Spiller

The charmed Orc is more than happy to share what he knows, "Plan yes, but Hooded One tell Big Leader to wait...wait till Shiny Shields from big city leave."

"Alarm, warrior check out problem, warriors protect female orcs, move like bees nest. Maybe two groups come out and check, five six each. Maybe even Big Leaders come after that?"

[Admiral]

"Did you hear anything about an orc who was captured in Linwood but then escaped?"

[Zman]

Orc

And the Orc keeps divulging his secrets to Gnome-Friend, "He came wounded, and exhausted. Made claims about Hooded one...Hooded one old him he had been altered...that he was weak and killed him with a flick of his wrist....Big Leader and Holy One were not Hap....."

Three horn bursts are heard in the distance.

"Good, that is the alarm I mentioned. now I can introduce you to my clan."

[Admiral]

Shiny ignores the horn for a second. "Did anyone believe him? Any other orcs? Are there those who do not trust the Hooded One?"

[Athedia]

Mithril prepared her crossbow, aiming to shoot any orcs that came within range. "Henry get back up here, more orcs will be coming soon." She prayed that the rest of the group was alright as she braced herself for the reinforcements.

[Zman]

Henry

Looking a bit shocked at Mithril's suggestion, "That's how me and pa used to hunt ****, we treed them. We'd be better to ring your companions, strength in numbers."

[Zman]

Orcs

"Most that defy the Hooded one or Big !eader don't live to talk about it."

[Athedia]

"If you are sure." Mithril climbed down, trusting in Henry's knowledge of the outdoors. "I only know the woods from books. I can identify a plant or creature, but not how to avoid trouble." She lost her concentration while climbing down, crashing to the ground as she spoke. "On second thought, maybe the raccoon's just wanted to avoid the ground."

Mithril begins to climb down, but a branch gives way... Mithril fall, but only a short distance smashing her suing painfully I to the roots of the tree. Only minor damage and a scraped shin.

Kurt ***** his head at the horn, then winces and gestures with his axe from behind the orc towards his neck. To kill an unarmed foe would make him sick, but they'll have to kill him now or later, when the fighting starts he'll have to see through the charm.

[Admiral]

"That's great that your clan is on their way! Let me just tell my friends who's coming."

Shiny looks up at Kurt, his friendly smile not changing one iota. "If he lives, he'll be able to tell the Hooded One too much about us. Now's the time."

Natalia winces, realizing what Kurt's about to do. She doesn't like it one bit, but it's not like they have much of a choice now. She hopes Mithril and Henry are okay.

Miriam looks at Shiny when she realizes what will happen "Shiny Storyteller, Official Liar and Enchanter Extraordinaire, this is the price to pay for your trickery. You are turning us into murderers."

She steps away, knowing that has to be done must be done. But she would rather see it done in the heat of battle, not against a charmed defenseless being.

[Zman]

Valen watches on, not knowing what the gnome is discussing with the enchanted Orc. Once Shiny says what must be done, Valen simply readies himself for the inevitable upcoming conflict. A few muttered incantations in Draconic, Valen crosses his arms and wraps arcane protections around himself.

The Orces eyes flash with clarity for a second before Kirts axe is brought down and they roll back into the creatures skull.

Kurt spits angrily, slamming his axe into the ground. "That was disgusting. I don't know if I'll ever get used to killing that way, Shiny." He sighs, then, cleaning his axe before nodding at the others. "Well? Let's go find Heny and Mithril!" He immediately turns and sets off towards them, his face grim.

Natalia shakes her head and looks at Shiny. "...Do your own work...Next time," she nearly spits out, as disgusted as Kurt is. She knows it's a bit hypocritical coming from her, who sticks to the shadows, but there's a difference between different kinds of sneak attacks.
