Valen

As the Orc leaps and catches Valen off guard and bloodying him, Valen quickly snaps back in a fury with his great blade....

"Pig faced bastard spawn!" Valen lets out through clenched teeth.

Valen lands one mighty blow, but it does little to slow down the beast....

Natalia looks at Valen, badly wounded, and wonders if she should run off and help him. But the orc who charged at Kurt is close to the caltrops; if she can get his attention and have him step on them...Perhaps she could move to Valen and draw him off Kurt at the same time.

Miriam

Her lips moving with a strong and practiced prayer to Saint Cuthbert, Miriam lays her hand on Kurt pouring her divine energies into him, the pain vanishing, the wounds knitting themselves back together...

Natalia sighs as Kurt's wounds begin to heal. But Valen's still left on his own, even if he's the one who ran off in the first place.

After nearly splitting the first Orc in two, Kurt continues the momentum of his Greataxe back at the one that just wounded him... But Kurt can't bring his swing to fruition.

Mithril backed up until she could get a clear shot of the orc leader. She prayed that she would get another lucky hit with the crossbow.

The Nimble Mage precisely squeezes a shot past the shoulder of Valen and strikes true... Dealing another wound to the foaming rager...


As the battle commences Miriam and Natalia's keen eyes catch sight of at least a half dozen figures above the cave entrance. The appear as if out of thin air, a Robed Figure dwarfed by at least a half dozen larger forms, Four Ogres dressed in chain, and two other Ogres, larger than the rest with blueish tinted skin carrying massive swords.

Natalia sees clear enough to attempt a knowledge check on them.

Natalia is up.

Natalia's eyes go wide and she goes nearly sheet-white when she sees the hooded figure surrounded by ogres. Nearly hyperventilating, she screams,"Orcs and ogres! Hooded one! Grab and go!" Passing up the easy target before her, Natalia runs to Valen's side and attempts to attack that orc as well.

Orcs

Then three Orcs with bows continue to advance and pepper the area with their Arrows picking the largest and easiest target... one of the arrows pierces Kurts neck but doesn't nick any arteries.

The remaining Orc Veteran is too stunned and blinded to fight effectively, he drops his weapon.


The Orc Leader attempts to put Valen down for the count as he swings his nasty looking curved blade... Missing the human's throat by a hair's breath...

Valen retaliates by gritting his teeth, seething at the vile creature before him as he whips his mighty blade around in two vicious strokes... One across the thigh, the other taking the Orcs head as it collapses.

As Kurt begs the question of falling back, Valen looks at him, unable to concentrate and think clearly....

Miriam pulls out the wand and touches Valen, healing the wounded warrior.

"Let's take down the last veteran and pull away. If anything to scary come close, I have a sound burst and a hold person left. Shiny, may be it is time to expose the treacherous game the hooded is doing on the ogres and the orcs..."

Moves swiftly to put his blade in the stunned Orc... Henry manages to wound the orc, but does little damage through its thick hide armor...

Natalia's eyes widen as she recognizes the ogres surrounding the hooded figure. She shouts above the din, panicked, "Ogre mages, lonely malevolence, mighty magic! Kill and RUN!!!"

I say we kill this ogre, grab what we can off their bodies, and run for it. If they give chase then Mithril should mind read them. Would that provide a will save if they're an illusion?

[Admiral]

Hearing of the danger, a hundred thoughts seem to rush through Shiny's mind. After a moment he comes to a decision.

Shiny clasps his hands together, utters an incantation, and makes a throwing motion towards the ground. His spell explodes in a burst of thick mist around him and his companions.

"If we want to run, now's our chance."

As the fog billows over them, Natalia shouts, "Disarm and run! Kurt, finish! Henry...Take axe, so with us, not against us! Valen, falchion?"

If Valen doesn't take it or Kurt kills the orc, Natalia will take the falchion. I do want to take the weapons with us.

As the small gnome calls forth a fast and billowing fog which hides nigh the entire treeline from view.

Mithril loads another quarrel as she begins to withdraw...

Natalia quickly snatches up the fallen Orc's Falschion....

The remaining Orcs pepper the fog with arrows... but their arrows do not find their mark.

Kurt raises his axe one final time to finish the disabled Orc.... bringing the great axe down with a heavy thwack. He quickly grabs the two Axes and begins falling back..

Valen and Miriam begin to fall back whilst Shiny and Henry join them... Valen grabs the small Gnome by the back, picking him up and carrying him along, "Thank you for the fog." Valen add.

That puts everyone falling back...

As the party makes their way beyond the fog they can hear Orc shouting coming from the other side of the fog.

Valen, still carrying the shortlegged Gnome quickly and quietly calls to Kurt, "Stay hidden behind the fog, lest your unsightly backside be seen by our enemy."

Kurt just nods. "You don't have to warn me."

As Natalia snatches up the falchion and runs for it, hearing Kurt kill the last orc behind them, she calls out, "Mithril! Miriam, Valen, Shiny, Kurt, Henry! ...All okay?"

[Zman]

"Girl. Keep your voice down unless you want them to track you by it." Valen scolds, just audible.

After a couple hundred feat, Valen waits for the rest to catch up, setting the Gnome down, "We can elude them for a while, they won't be too keen on chasing us in the Light....but we've only a few hours till dark and they will make better time than us."

Kurt doesn't stop as he catches up. "Then let's keep running."

Panting, Natalia says, "Back to Linwood. Kicked embers, see where fire goes." She holds up the falchion she took off the dead orc and adds, "Took...Took some tinder."

[Zman]

"We need rest, and I'm not a fan of giving up so easily." Valen as no problem keeping up. "What about the cave, it should provide a perfect hiding spot. We may even be about to ambush a few more Orcs?"

Natalia shakes her head. "Kicked embers...If land on tinder of Linwood? We should be...There to put them out."

[Zman]

"We've attacked their home, even Orcs wouldn't abandon it so readily. The more we attack and weaken them, the longer we buy Linwood." Valen states Matter of Factly.

He also tries to recall what he can about Ogre Mages
