Mookie seems to be using imbalance the same way one might say a person is unbalanced. Basically the Blight is white magic acting in an abnormal manner and Jacob is going to fix it... somehow. I wonder how Greg is gonna feel when Jacob out white magics him. Seriously, you'd think a kid who spent his entire life trying to cure himself of the Blight would've had Jacob's epiphany a long time ago.

Well, he should have asked some orc. Also, Greg was never the sharpest knife in the kitchen.

Wait. Wasn't 't there something about how Greg's white magic made the Blight recede, or at least that it held the Blight at bay?

    This keeps getting dumber.

Perhaps he used too much white magic, so he didn't break the imbalance.
All Greg had to do is to give up, then automatically he'd use less magic, create balance and get rid of the blight.

It works because giving up and doing nothing is a moral we see often in DD.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if every major character in DD is based on a real life person, considering the the ones we already know about*. Maybe a fat guy called Brian sneezed on Mookie a few days ago or something.

*Characters Mookie played in a game, Mookie in a costume or characters who are clearly Mookie. Also cameos, Jayden and Dominic's student whose only personality trait is sex. I'm sure there are more.

So I looked at the only strip I remember that deals with Rilian's discovery of necromancy, and...well, just look at it.

It's most likely just a weird coincidence, but I really hope Mookie actually planned this 4 years ago and is going to add another stupid subplot to this trainwreck.

EDIT: Also, looks like a good time to start thinking of ideas for the next (and possibly last) thread's title.

Killyoudead, huh? Wow, what a noble and altruistic magic that's been misunderstood and corruped from Rilian's original intentions.

Wait, he's connecting the blight with undeath? But isn't the point of the blight bomb to kill everything, not make everything undead? Wouldn't that make it death out of balance, not life out of balance? And how exactly is white magic the opposite of necromancy? They're both ways to give life to something, it's just that necromancy gives zombie life or something. Wouldn't the opposite of them be a killing spell or something?

Who knows, Starpower might be a good thing for Mookie. I don't expect it to be a masterpiece because let's face it, early Dominic Deegan was just passable. It'll prolly be pretty meh at best. But if he keeps challenging himself and actually has someone to help with his ideas, he could get better.

If anything has a chance to make Mookie into a somewhat good - or at least not awful - writer, it's definetly having someone else he has to run his ideas through. He never had to answer to anyone when making Dominic Deegan, so he was free to throw in whatever he felt like, with no regard for the flow of the story or, well, making it make any sense.

I'd like to think positive. He finishes DD and moves on to a new project to develop as artist. And since he's a nice guy, I hope for the best.

Ideally, and this is reaching for the moon here, but ideally I would like it to be both worth reading, and worth mocking. I want to be able to say, "While this this and this was silly, this this and this was pretty cool." It would be nice for there to be a balance, as in this thread it is way too easy to get carried away with attacking everything to do with the comic, even when it isnt that bad.

Ending DD and moving to a collaborative project is the best artistic decision Mookie has done since forever. I'm hoping Mookie improves as a writer through this, and if he does and avoids any Stonewater debacles then I'll be applauding his progress regardless of how entertaining Star Power is to read.

If he still manages to stagnate, then we'll be here in Star Power Mk. MMI: A Face Oddity

It would be an interesting thing to watch. On one hand, Mookie is a genuine nice guy who can get along with many types of people. On the other hand, much of his flaws as a writer can be summed up as Mookie stubbornly doing what he wants, not what's good for the story or the audience. I do wonder how much Mr. "I want everyone to be happy and metal" will bend to an artist who'll inevitably have a different vision.

In light of the recent, shall I say incoherence? I think I shall, of Jacob's revelations, I'm proposing, just to have it out there, Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVIII: What We Have Here Is a Failure to Communicate.

    Speaking of incoherency:

    Sneaky

    Future

And regarding the thread name, didn't we get an early suggestion about stock writing?
I say we should save the names about the ending. With the speed the plot moves compares to the speed these threads fill, I say we have at least 1-2 threads, plus a full one for epilogue and votes for worst/best strip ever.

Wouldn't it be ironic if at the end of this, all that's left of Jacob is that blackened skeleton? But like, he was still alive but just a blackened skeleton? Well, you didn't die, but you certainly zombied. Death is not zombies. Zombie Alive, etc etc.
