Refarding Hidan... I guess he might have been the weakest one in Akatsuki (though that itself is already an accomplishment) but I'd still argue in a one on one duel his skill is pretty useful. Do we know for sure he can't just drink a lot of blood and make it work on all his enemies? It's been too long...

You've got a really good point. The thing is that ninja of power levels as high as Nagato, or Kisame, they are VERY rare. Keep in mind Negato's basically using the same moves that the creator of all ninjutsu, ever, used. That type of power doesn't come around very often.

Also, do keep in mind that Hidan is capable of waving around a giant, three bladed sickle. He's not a push over, even without his ultimate attack.

I agree, but the thing is, this was supposed to be an organization of s rank missing nin, and the sudden plummet in world ending power between everyone else and hidan is. . . kinda drastic. As for zabuza, I wouldnt rank him as bottom of the barrel, it took an elite jounin like kakashi to take him down, raiga on the other hand, got his ass whupped by an oversized genin squad iirc. And even then, considering the plot armored naruto was involved, its hard to take it on face value.

I don't believe we know if his power can work on multiple people at once.

In fact, the others got very little feats shown apart from what their swords can do. Whereas taking out Zabuza and thus ending the Hidden Mist Technique was the central step in winning that battle.

Hidan is in Akatsuki because if you cut his head of and then pull his hair, pulling his hair hurts him more. And now we're talking about a guy who's technique is about sharing lethal wounds he receives with his opponent.

Added bonus is that he and Kakuzu have awesome group dynamic.

That last bit is probably like, 80% of why Hidan is actually in the group. Kakuzu kept killing his partners. So just...give him the guy that's immortal. So he'll stop killing all our best guys.

It should also be pointed out that Hidan is the perfect decoy, let him rush in Naruto-style while waving his scythe around, and when people finaly manage to pin him down, then BAMM!, Kakuzu wipes the board with some absurd dual-elemental tech

I have been reading a lot of fanfics recently, maybe you guys can clear something up for me. Was hidan really that relatively weak compared to everyone else in akatsuki?

• Hidan was excellent at Taijitsu, having a 4.5 in the databook, as well as easily keeping up if not superior to Kakashi who has a sharingan to enhance his Taijitsu skills.
• Hidan only need 1 successful attack to get off his ritual.
• We do not know if their is any range limit with the Hidan ritual. It range is at least hundrends of feat (based on the fact he could hurt Kakazu who was seperated from him), maybe even miles or hundreds of miles.
• Furthermore it is never made clear but he may be able to affect multiple people at once with his ritual (bloody multiple people, and ritual them all at once.)
• You are correct though that Hidan technique takes time, thus he needs allies to perform the technique correctly. Allies can gather up the enemies blood (since Hidan doesn't need to be the source of harm), or they can delay the enemy long enough so Hidan has time to set up the ritual.

Hidan could have been partnered with any member of akatsuki besides Deidra and Itachi and he would have been able to perform the same technique. Kakazu just could reattach body parts.
