On a personal note, coming out to my aunt went really well. She was really supportive. It's kind of funny in retrospect because I went in thinking I'd have to defend and explain myself, but she didn't question the legitimacy of my transness at all. She just told me that she's willing to support me, and listen if I need someone to talk to. I asked her to try not to use male idioms when referring to me and she was fine with that (actually switching pronouns would be too much of a giveaway to people I don't want to know yet.) Oh, and she agreed to go clothes shopping with me once the semester's over!

That's awesome! If I had some issue like that, I'd call on some of my aunts too. One of them in particular really helped when I was being bullied.

There is that. Really, I just don't understand prepackaged bias like that. Hate the po-po is no different than hate the [slang for ethnic group]. Callin them an "Authority" doesn't justify it.

It's very different, because people choose to be police officers, they don't choose to be their race or ethnicity, or their gender or sexuality. However, I still disagree with a blanket hate for a profession.

My attitude is like in D&D. My usual starting attitude towards a random person is friendly or indifferent. If we have an interaction, they have a chance of changing my attitude for better or for worse. If they're some relevant professional (I'm reporting a crime and they're a police officer, I'm building a bridge and they're an engineer, I'm seeking medical advice and they're a doctor) they get an automatic bonus, because I assume in order for them to hold that job, they must have background, training, some degree of interest, some desire to do well at this. But they could still negate that bonus by being a total tool. That doesn't affect my interaction with the next one I meet, though, unless I start to notice a trend. ("Every firefighter I meet has said something racist, I'm going to apply a general -1 penalty to firefighters because I'm suspiscious." That's an obviously made-up example.)

Yeah, I'm not that fond of reddit, but it does have one of the biggest queer communities and some of the subreddits are pretty neat, so I still read it cause it's an easy place to get news.

I'll be going into hibernation for a month or so. I've been getting worse - it's the darkness that's getting to me - and me snapping at Lena was a symptom of that. If I continue like this on this side of the solstice there's a risk I'll get banned and I don't want that. I really don't want that.

That makes absolutely no sense. Sexism refers to discriminating based on sex or gender, to base the evaluation of a person's personality on gender rather than on what they do or say. How does that translate to transsexism=accepting others' identities? Because it is based on the fact that transsexuality exists?

Is this the kind of people who think racism is when you do not insist on calling someone X-American* if they just identify as American? I think my brain is hurt. >_<

You have to make an account I think. That's pretty simple though and doesn't require an email.

It's less of a strawman, and more pointing out what I said when this whole thing started. The conversation on legitimacy of authority came after my shaking my head at people hating cops because they're cops. You'll notice myth raising was specifically a change-of-subject.

What I find interesting is that there doesn't seem to be any notion of a middle ground; I say "I find hatred of authority just because to be baffling". The response was basically "why not? Authority doesn't have any special power just because" which not only wasn't what I said, but also shot from 'don't worship' to 'despise until told otherwise'. That's pretty severe, and is intentionally phrased to make it seem like obedience or combat are the only options, which I find equally silly.

There lies the first misunderstanding then. To me it seemed like she was responding to everyone after her initial question to Nope, and not specifically you (even if she said it right after you), so you bringing the point back up in response was confusing for me.

Also, you're on: what coin? I suggest art. Single picture within reasonable bounds, han drawn. Deal?

Again... I don't think I quite follow. I'm not on any coin that I'm aware of... If you just mean "what's your favorite coin?" this one is 1800 hundred years old and has a meteorite on its back.

Good luck with that, Asta. I don't think temp bans are an option here though. I tried to get temp banned some years ago to help me concentrate on my a levels, and if memory serves I was told that if I wanted to be banned it would be permanent. Not only that, but they wouldn't even put a note on it saying I'd been banned by request, so any new account I made would be autobanned if they found it was me.

In hindsight, 2 liters beer + 6 shots of vodka + ritalin (which doubles the alcohol's effect) wasn't such a smart move. It seems my infinite tolerance for alcohol isn't that infinite after all.

Well... Info on the subject is scarce, but this is a post by one someone who was diagnosed as PTSD. Back then they didn't know as much about it, as they do now. This was the story they showed me to ask me if I felt the same way:

Yeah. Hence my bad memories from that moment.
Normally, I would be able to evade the question, but they now knew I did that, and were thus able to get the truth out of everything. Luckily, they are my friends, so they didn't go too personal. Just some things I thought of them I had preferrably kept to myself.

I can however, mention that a discomfort with lying (it is related to the difference in how neurological input and signals are filtered) is a common trait of Asperger's Syndrome. Have noticed that in myself (Unless being obviously humorous, I have difficulty being knowingly incorrect) but it is probably far far different from OTD.

For you and Asta both; temp-banning seems excessively complicated. Why not just have someone change your password, if you can't trust yourself to just not come visit? No account shenanigans required. Or tell your browser you don't want to go to gitp.

The password route is how I went about it when I temp banned myself from Giantitp. I made a stupidly large password of random numbers and letters, saved it into a document, and set my password. The fact of having to go to the document to get the password meant it helped keep me off of Giantitp and kept me on my work.

Ikmow personally, I get the most down when I, for example, get into an argument or something with a group of friends, and that group is the only one I can currently go to for getting my mind of things. I'll be honest, luv. Between being unable to read that mishmash of text, unable to really do anything with reddit on my phone, and my generally creepily unsympathetic views on threats of suicide, it's not worth it on my end.
