Trog's Tavern is something of a traditional place for introducing new characters, yes. There's usually someone to interact with there. Dropping your character somewhere also works, but that depends on whether or not someone has a scene you can enter.

Hey - I'd like to join the Nexus RP here - I've read the rules and the OP for most of the threads, and some of the latest pages. (Lurking Powers Activate!)

I have a couple of characters in mind to start, one of which is a new video game adventurer, looking to prove himself in some quests to qualify for his own game. I think maybe Trog's Tavern would be a good place to start? It would certainly be the type of place he would think of starting.

The other is (quite possibly) the least powerful eldritch-abomination-spawn ever - as in, she really has almost no powers (by herself), despite what she tries to claim. She would ideally crash/appear somewhere in the middle of nowhere, possibly in the middle of something going on, but I'm not sure what's open or whether I should wait. (I have some experience in this type of roleplay in other forums, but I don't think I should commit to anything long or major right off the bat.)

Hey! Awesome, we always like to see new members! Well, there are a few adventurers in Trog's going on a treasure hunt at the moment. Captain Pete, Captain Clegg, and another loud guy. You have your character appear in TRog's, and just talk to Clegg. He doesn't eat potential allies, don't worry.

I do think Outside seems like a good place for her to start. However, what kind of memorial service is this? She's somewhat of a troublemaker (although mostly harmless), so if it's supposed to be a solemn or quiet affair, I think she would get kicked out pretty fast.

The first present is one from the whole Applehill family - a big box of cookies in all sorts of flavors.

Then, Tito's present. He got Natalie an illustrated book about the birds of the Nexus, and how to recognize them.

Lily's gift is a spiffy wrist-mounted slinghshot.

Natalie's Party

The note with Tito's present says "Happy birthday, Natalie! I thought you better make sure you know which birds are friends and which aren't when you are flying around. -Tito" His note is neatly written and folded.

Lily's says (with terrible handwriting and a lot of misspelling): "My parents won't let us come to your party! They said it was too dangerous, even though I told them it wouldn't be, or Brinika and Salix and Jamie wouldn't be allowed to go, but they're just being mean. I hope you like the cookies! -Love, Lily"

If Natalie's eaten enough of the Applehills' baking offscreen to have a favourite cookie, then there will be about half of that variety in the box. The rest will be an assortment - ginger snaps, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, frosted sugar cookie, etc.

Of course, Tito would decide on a practical present, chosen for the recipient, while Lily would pick the present she'd most like to receive herself.

Just one of my characters going out to a field somewhere to sit in a burning tree and think about things. She's planning on it being sort of solemn-ish, but she'd probably not mind being interrupted too much.
