We also take a few treats and leave enough to pay for them, since that isn't quite stealing. Or we could just wait, or go somewhere else, but that's not as exciting."

Garion tilted his head, observing the two ponies curiously. Here were two ponies, older than Spark and Smoothie, but less adult than Mister Grills and Miss Gwyn, doing kisses. Or at least, Miss Gear was doing kisses to Mister Silverpine. How did all this fit into what he'd learned at the beach today? He'd need to ask Miss Gwyn later...

The thought made Garion shiver and cling tighter to Silverpine's back. "Mister Grills? Mister Griiiiiiillllllllls!" he loudly called out. If the two ponies had forgotten the colt's presence momentarily, there was a good reminder for them.

Grief would soon have a few new customers, in the form of a pair of flamboyant, cheerful ponies leading on a short, dazed-looking pegasus. Poor guy looked like he'd gotten run over by a carriage, then had the carriage stop, grow legs, trot back up to him, and ask him directions to the nearest pastry shop that served lemon shortbread on Tuesdays.

The couple in question, for those not introduced to them, were a tall, white unicorn stallion with dark blonde hair, forelock swept back. He had blue eyes and very dramatic eyebrows. The mare was a dainty, pale yellow Pegasus. Her mane was a pale blonde and her expression was inscrutably cheerful. Ponies may have seen the couple, sometimes outlandishly dressed, perform

They sauntered in like they hadn't a thought in their heads. They walked up to the bar.
"Hello, café workers!"

At this, Silk Scarf pulled him into a private huddle, which everyone could overhear.
"Isn't it rude not to say hello to the café customers, too?"
"No, we don't want to disturb them. There is such a thing as being considerate, my dear...Also, the last time we did that, we were promptly thrown out of the coffeehouse without our drinks."

They nodded in unison, and zipped back to their previous positions at the bar.

"Oh hey!" Greif cheerfully waves. "What's up?"

"What can we get for you today?" Spin asks, smiling pleasantly.

Dark, terrible things that mortal eyes were never meant to behold, and only the solace of extremely fizzy drinks could provide any comfort.

Or, in this case, nonsensical, illogical magic tricks that logical minds were never meant to behold.
