Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
Ash thinks of himself as a guy, because he is a guy. He simply grew up in the wrong body, and has to deal with the difficulties that it brings. It makes more sense to say that he is a closeted FtM transsexual than to say he was transformed into a girl.

Not so much grew up in as woke up in. But yeah, it fits. Guess I wasn't thinking when I made the webcomic section.

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
Morning! And yeah, agreed on Misfile.
Not sure if Twokinds ought to be included? (Spoilered for being spoilery about the existence of characters and their secrets:)
SpoilerNot getting into the whole Kaidran/Basitans potentially being metaphors thing, because I don't think that's actually the intent, it's got a character who lost their gender due to mental damage from a spell, and had to share their brother's; not sure how well it's handled, though, as it's been ages since I read any of it.

Agreed on twokinds. The characters are portraying it in a great way.

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
People still aren't showing manners? I must work harder then to show how polite I can be.
Ouch. I can relate. I'm peeling everywhere, and the callouses on my hands are getting out of hand. (Wow. I made a pun. That's kind of odd, given the state I'm in)
Wish I had a job. At least I'd be making good use of my time instead of laying around doing nothing.'Pride' Pony by Elemental

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
Ooh, Twokinds. Love that comic. ^_^
Spoilery stuff of certain Spoilooooom!
SpoilerThey actually draw some quite obvious parallels, to the point of mentioning historical trans people in their world. I personally think they handle it very well, but I am biased by liking the comic. ^_^'
Keidran and Basitans were stated by the author to exist in order to discuss racism in a fantastic setting, but I am not sure if that is the metaphor you are referring to. Is it?
All in all, I think we should add it. It generally portrays GRSM matters positively and is quite a nice tale overall.
EDIT:
@Akowrules: I'm sure you are doing worthwhile things, even if they consist of just recharging for the summer. A job certainly shouldn't be the only way to feel useful, at least not according to this never-had-a-job-in-her-life Kobold. ^_^
Oh, and in regards to manners; I've never really seen anyone move out of lane at a store like that, but I do often get thanked for holding the door for everybody and I have at many points been in a situation where all parties were trying to let the others go first. That may have more to do with how obscure the Danish rules about vehicle and pedestrian traffic interaction are, though.Last edited by Mina Kobold; 2013-06-21 at 10:46 AM.

So, I think my mom is giving away this old dress of hers, and I'm going to ask her if I can have it instead.
It doesn't work that well on me...but a dress is a dress which is a thing I don't have.

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
Aww I finally found a nice doctor. She said she can prescribe hormones for me this summer and I'm in a good situation to start transitioning from. She's super progressive too -- asked if I was a lesbian and said it was completely fine if I was (I'm not but appreciated the question). I've had mostly bad experiences with doctors so I'm pretty happy about this. n_n
I haven't posted in these threads for ages and my username here is still male-sounding but I figured I'd randomly update you all since I'm having a good day. :P <3

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
I submitted a name change request a few months ago.
My name is Brianna and I've been out to most people for months now. I'm just not on HRT yet. This is a picture I put on Facebook recently. The last year or so of actively trying to be more okay with myself have surprisingly worked really well: I've gone from hyper-closeted crossdresser to proud trans girl in like 10 months. Friends have largely been great too. It's been a blast, even without hormones (but now's a good time to start those -- I'm excited).
I'm also a bran muffin, as my avatar indicates. ;)

Re: LGBTAitP #37: Once upon a time...
Oh my
My therapist appointment went really well! I'm glad I went. I can see why my therapist is one of the best in the South-East! I'm going back next Friday with a page about how I think coming out to my dad will go. I already feel so much better about therapy. So far she thinks I have gender dysthymia instead of gender dysphoria, which... go figure. It's kind of like when I first saw the word transgender, I kind of identified with it. But genderqueer really resonated with me. Same with dysphoria/dysthymia.

Maybe? You should dye it green. It looks really cool that way.

Congrats on the very nice doctor!
And hi, I don't think I rain into you last time, though I have been posting here since the 12th or so thread, so that may be my memory failing. Sorry! ^_^'
