    Moonshroud Festival

The Moonshroud Festival is a time of peace, revelry, and celebration. The theme of this Moonshroud is focused strongly on the history and culture of the Imperium's glorious past. Indeed, it's become almost more of an educational ceremony in some ways than a carnival. Unfortunately, there are strange goings on in the Imperium outside of the Priory, and those in the Imperium who have no respect for tradition move armies against the Priory during this most important and sacrosanct of holidays. There are apparently charges of wrongdoing being leveled against the Priory by Xiu-loyalists, which really comes as no surprise these days, but the exact nature of the charges is unclear. Needless to say, neither Qzare Rongyao nor any other member of the Priory had the opportunity to hear the allegations, let alone respond to them, before a bloodthirsty Xiu-loyalist general marched an army onto Priory lands for the third time in the past few years. The Priory scrambles to assemble their forces during the holiday and deploy them to the defense of the nation.

    Medical Research

After several years of study and refining ancient herbal treatments, a discovery is made! The varying colors of the shedding trees have unique chemical properties. It seems that ingestion of the leaves and flowers of a shedding tree have wondrous properties. Red leaves can reduce fever, green flowers cure infections, and the small blue flower buds even provide relief from ED. After several more years of research, an organized production of medical treatments has been born!

    Spoiler: Round 21

    Spoiler: Actions

    1. Create a Menhîrin party, handpicked by Grïend for their water-resistant capabilities, to explore the central sea using Abyssium. They submerge on the shores of Woodwind, disappearing beneath the waves. (Cur, Exploration)
    2. Adjust Steampower to works with Tanedhan feathers, heating the water, causing steam to power the clockwork engine. The water then condenses against the metal and is being led back to the boiler itself, creating a cycle. For further effectiveness, Tears of Yphine are placed at the top of the engine to speed up condensation. The Bucka that are working on the modification call the new concept a "Magitech Engine". (Cur, Project 1/2) The Guardians of the Past have found old mines deep within the Shintouite Mountains. Although looking ancient and unused for at least 200 years, the equipment is still in working order and can be used after minor repairs are done. More shintouite is now available! (Cur 5 Shintouite, Cur)
    3. Attend Grand Ball. (Dip)
    • Breakdancing Menhîrin (to the amusement and fright of little children).
    • Marry Marana Earthguard to Eldred Jarrow. Congratulations to the new pair!
    • Trade Gold from Keldagrim for Toma Nuts from Farridon. Send Toma Nuts to Zargrim.
    • Trade Sewer Tech and Furs from Zargrim against Mithril from Mulahrum.
    • Trade Tekorvan Stone for Goldfire from Tzalteclan.

Complete arch over the Straight of Ethelos on Selyra side. (details pending) [5/5]

    Non-Actions -
    Attend Eastern Concodant.
Attend Grand Ball. Wenyavuk takes leave of the Empire, and Girard is fine with this action. He gives his blessings.

    NPC Vassal Actions -

    Wenyavuk
    1[Action]
Wenyavuk attends the Grand Ball, and becomes extreamly excited at the prospect of the unification of the tribes. This is an effort they had been striving for for some time. Wenyavuk officially breaks off as a vassal to the Empire of Dawn in favor of the Freehold of Faedas. They are just surprised that in doing so, they have left the Empire of Dawn, being that the Cheiftain is daughter of a former ruler of the Empire. Still, they look forward to the future, and begin discussing their desire to find what happened to the people who were forced north. One expedition had already been sent out and lost 5 years prior. Perhaps ice sailing needs to be reclaimed as a technology to follow them?

    Domhan Abhaile
    1[Action]
Assist Guilder and Serendel with the Maos side of construction on the Arch over the Straight of Ethelos. [4/5]

    Raaneka
    1[Action]
Send the Fellows to Investigate the letter sent to Emperor Girard, going in his place and apprehending the person at the intended meeting place. They will first try discreet, and go from there.

    Actions

    1) [c] [c10] New Tech! Better cranes, scaffolding, working force, etc. have been being researched for quite a while now, and a breakthrough is at hand! This new method, dubbed Efficient Building allows for more focused construction. (OOC: 2 actions per turn on GPs)
2, 3, 4) [c] With foundations complete, construction begins on the city itself. [1/5] northern quadrent, [1/5] western quadrent, [1/5] palace.
    5) [m] raise 1000 land units in Solus
    6) [m] raise 1000 land units in Solus

If tech is unacceptable, that's fine. I'll change it.

    1. Sign the Frostfire Concordat.

    2. Attempt to hail the Warchief of the Orcs in Region 108, offering the benefits of Vassalization to the Glazfelli Hegemony, much the same deal as Sympolemou has. Who knows, maybe they'll go for it? Or maybe they'll just shoot the messenger and give the Army an excuse to move in and conquer the place. Either way works, really. [Roll=13] (Diplomacy)

    3. Raise 1 unit of Ships in Drugaud. (Military)

    4. Raise 1 unit of Ships in Drugaud. (Military)

    5. Finish integrating Clockwork and Prosthetics! The technology is now much cleaner, with joints less prone to slipping and far more controllable. It's already being distributed to veterans of the Haiwasten campaign who already needed Prosthetics for their injuries. Some have even theorized that combining this advancement with lighter materials and steam power could allow for prosthetics that perform as well as or even better than the original limb. [2/2] (Curiosity)

    6. Finalize construction of the Avenspire! It's been in production for half of a lifetime, and some of the slaves who helped place the final crown upon the tower are yet younger than the Spire's foundations. It rises from one of the high mountains near the threefold border between Glazfell, Estglaz, and Frosskov, casting a shadow into all three regions at different times as the Sun flies overhead. Grand apiaries for Sycian Pegasi, telescopes from Bordeusi lands, and the finest guards in Glazfell all protect the tower from intruders both domestic and foreign.

    Sympolemou:

    1. Raise 1000 more troops in Aimplach.

Not. Dead. Yet. Razdis lives! Du bekar!

Dust swirled through the Mormaer's Hall. Long had Razdis been forgotten and it's people leaderless. No more.

Cogen, Mormaer of Razdis, daughter of Vali and ruler of the Underpire had returned from monastic seclusion. The time was ripe to act.

The Black Hand Clan completed their research on Deepflame crystals, specifically including the new lenses. Visitors to Razdis may note a new fashion of Angle Hound pets.

    Growth!

Karintiya (region 48), Valeriya (region 77), Kaspiyskiya (region 74) and Niskovian Steppe (region 47A) unite to form a Great Kingdom in the West!

    Investigate!

[436.1] Highwaymen who have been arrested in Woodwind say they aren’t guilty of robbery, merely of being imperial loyalists to the Ignato Empire. Members of Parliament or relatives of theirs who’ve run into the bands either came away with their lives and had ‘DOOM’ and the Ignato sigil branded on their faces, or were hanged from the trees—the latter happening with more regularity to the south.

[436.2] The brave sailors of Pavonia sail the salty seas in search of the mysterious creatures. Dark shadows of huge size have been reported through the fog. The sailors mustered their courage to press onwards and tell they have seen a dark looming figure the size of a small mountain--so they say--with a huge, bald, slimy head and clawed hands hanging from its face. Its many-mouthed breath smelled of death and its eyeless gaze made the fog feel heavy and colder than ice. It then sunk beneath the waves again, but the portents of doom have been clear... it will return.

[436.3] The Ashenian explorers underneath Ashenia did not return. One of them was later found welded to a cavern wall while still in his armor.

    Colonize!

[436.1] The "Glimmervoid" finds the Pavonian offer of citizenship untempting and maintain their independence. Perhaps the diplomats offended them?

[436.2] The regions once belonging to Mularuhm have seemingly grown happy with their independence and resist attempts to be reintegrated as do the newly discovered Rock Riders. Perhaps the diplomats offended them?

[436.3] The Glazfell's attempt at vassalization of the orcs in region 108 has failed. The orcs do not understand the concept, but have become more peaceful towards the Glazfelli.

[436.4] The Ashenian delegation sent under Lacertia return with tales that they simply weren't able to contact any of the creatures living below. How strange.

    Claim!

[431.1] Wenyavuk joins the Faedas Freehold at the Grand Ball in Jarrland!

    Convert!

The royal family of the Heartwaste and Faedas convert to the Children of Kina!

Kyaralath now contains a Minority of Laiks Riqis adherents!

The Niskovian Steppe now contains a Minority of Laiks Riqis adherents!

Lyradis now contains a Majority of Radurja adherents!

Grmanhil now contains a Minority of Radurja adherents!

Selyra now contains a Minority of Radurja adherents!

Borlmyn now contains a Minority of Radurja adherents!

Propinlonge now contains a Minority of Children of Kina adherents!

Celero now contains a Minority of Children of Kina adherents!

    War!

[435.1] The city-states north-west of Ri Chugang are in peril! The Greatest Kingdom of Zuiguo has sent 10.000 troops to attack it in an attempt of conquest! The city-states are capable of fielding only 1000 soldiers, and thus have sent couriers to Ri Chugang to plead for their aid, offering to join their nation if the attackers are repelled and capitalizing on the fact that the invaders aren't Ascensionists (disregarding the fact that only one of the city-states has some Ascensionists itself). They reveal they have a secret weapon: a type of steel, cordless ballista that shoots faster than lightning! [Required resources: tangled lightning, metal. +2 on Military battle checks.]

[435.2] 3,000 Yorukuni troops move into Galie-Noiret and are confronted with the armies of Pryonia, themselves numbering 3,000, who seem displeased by the Freehold's actions to annex a part of their sovereignty. Fighting breaks out but Faedas proves more capable, establishing a foothold in the region though not without losses. (28 vs 25: Pryonia loses 2,000 troops, Faedas loses 1,000) [Conquest: 1/2]

[435.3] Region 132 falls into line, conquered completely by the Bordeusi Concordat. [Conquest: 2/2] (Original discovery text: "It is a very humid and forested region with a cliffy coast. The inhabitants are birdlike and colorful and tend to blend in well amongst the dense flowery canopy. It has one Great resource of dyes and one Good resource of ambrosia, created from nectar.")

[435.4] Region 106 yields to Tzaltec forces, joining the expanding empire [Conquest: 2/2] (Military scouts report the following back to their commanders: The region seems to have 45,000 inhabitants, a Good supply of gold and a Great supply of creeping livefire

[435.2] The Salterri clash again as many nations come to a head in Priory lands western units bustle to aid the burgeoning Priory. Bordeux, long time ally of Ashenia, crosses through their old friend's land with ease, but Ashenian border guards refuse to allow the unknown foreigners from Ri Chugang into their lands. For all they know, they might be Radurjic. Bordeux reaches Crima, its onetime and perhaps eventual vassal and is picked up by Guilderene ships and transported to Salteire to join the Priory in battle.

With the Grand Canal blocked at both ends Guilder can send no more naval units and with the Guilder's own tactical maneuvering away from the beaches in Salteire such would be of little impact either way. Guilder does however manage to send across a dino cavalry unit through the lands of its liege, Serendel, and this unit assists the Priory within Salteire. The fighting grows intense and eventually under the leadership of King Athelmere of Carmine the forces who still pledge loyalty to Qzare Tailong prevail and emerge unscathed. (43.5 Priory vs. 50 Carmine: The Priory loses 4,000 troops, The Carmines lose no troops, The Heartlands lose no troops, Bordeux loses no troops, Guilder loses no troops) [Conquest 1/2]

In Campestrus Pratum the Caercians launch a coordinated attack against the Priory targeting this long disputed and renamed land. Though fighting is intense and the battle is a close one the Caercians emerge victorious and establish a foothold in the region. (24.5 Priory vs. 26 Caercian: The Priory loses 2,000 troops, the Caercians lose 1,000 troops) [Conquest 1/2]

[435.3] Jarrland troops hit Maos hard and fast, raiding the coast and defacing the monument being constructed off its shore! With all the Guilderene forces committed elsewhere the Jarrlanders manage to successfully establish a rather advantageous position to the region. [Conquest: 1/2]

[437.1] 15.000 wildlings invade Farridon from the south. Another 3000 invade Tempestia. They seem leaderless and without much tactic to them.

[440.1] 3000 men armed with iron-tipped spears come from the Far North and attack Intepeuh, sailing across the frozen lands in land-boats. When word reaches the Na’nuk of Wenyavuk, they whisper among themselves of the ‘warriors of Syivine’.

    --UNDER CONSTRUCTION--

This shall blossom into the most beautiful of flowers.

"How incredibly idiotic. Strip us of our dignity, then."
Spark rolled her eyes behind his back. For one who is supposed to guide two entire Kvista, Bloth Rauour himself is 'incredibly idiotic'.
"Fera, the Vassal State of the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia." the disgust he felt at the topic oozed from each word as thick as the green muck around Griuhna Sjova. Swinging his rather plain scythe around, Bloth turned to face a Kvista full of angry females. The sneer fell from his face immediately as Spark stepped forward.
"What, was he that good? That you have blinded yourself to the truth of the matter and proceded to blind the others?"
    Spark clicked her pincers calmly.
Only twenty years of the common calendar and already in a position of such power. It simply boggles the mind these two are the same Haljan.
"What a strange thing to say, for a Haljan. Especially one such as yourself. You have spent too long outside the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia. You have spent far too long outside Fera itself. And your behaviour is a disgrace."
    "You avoid the question."
"I blinded none. I see no blind ones here."
Bloth moved his scythe threateningly "Because you are blind. Clearly! Let me spell it out for you." now only an inch from Spark's unflinching face, Bloth spoke in very slow speech, "We now serve the High Prince. A foreign nation tells us what to do, we do it. Fera is no more. We are not free."
After the strange festival in Hurosha where she saw many strange beings, Spark had made her life work the study of other sentients. She believed what Bloth Rauour was displaying was an example of human-style belittling. Or something to that effect.

Where have you been for the past decade? What sort of human would say such things?
Spark lowered the ends of her antennae in thought.
"Did you read the official statements?" Spark rather doubted Bloth was old enough to have learned to read Feran properly, but was certain only that he was upset and not handling the situation appropriately. Were they hunting, he would surely be unable to focus in his current condition.
Bloth pulled the ends of his antennae back against his head "You can't read. I know what they say better than you possibly could."
    Finally, some progress.
"Aipiskaupus Thuidans Talzjands Leikeis Kaiser has travelled Fera already to gather the opinions of as many Ferans as possible on the matter. It all started a time ago in the form of a sudden thought and subsequent short conversation on the balcony of the Nisakovich Palace. Since then, much of the Kaiser's time has been spent on this matter."
Bloth cut Spark off with a human-like hand gesture, "The relevance of this?"
"You are one of the few who are unhappy with this. I simply wondered how you could still think as you do if you knew precisely..."
Bloth raised his tail and rested the blade of his scythe against Spark's neck, "Your behaviour is unacceptable, Spark."

    "Enough."
A short, proud Haljan in the ornate black robes of the First Cathedral to the Forces of Laiks Riqis strode calmly toward the two. Bloth snarled, "One step closer..."
    *snap*
The newcomer, Bokareis Thuidans, High Shaman of Laiks Riqis held the broken scythe high and allowed the Forces of Virux to consume it in flame. Furious, he permitted the Forces of Terfonel-D to put out the flames before surrendering the ashes to the Forces of Zirconyx. Bloth blinked several times before picking himself up off the ground. He had not been able to track Bokareis' movement, let alone defend himself.
"Your behaviour is unacceptable, Bloth" Bokareis' words were cool and detached as he turned his back on the insolent Haljan to check if Spark was alright. He clicked his pincers several times in frustrated disappointment at the shallow gash in Spark's neck.

"Why." Bokareis' body language and voice betrayed no emotion, yet it could not be clearer to Bloth exactly how furious Bokareis must be. For the first time that night, Bloth respected Haljan custom and lay on the ground in silence.
"Bloth Rauour believes us servants to the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia." Spark spoke calmly as she placed a light scarf around her neck. Though it did not portray him in good light, Bloth stayed silent to indicate that what Spark said was true.

Spoiler: Report on the International Council
    Show

Senator Zahra Nkemdelim's report in the events of the Second International Council came with some concern to the attention of the Triad Council. The Raven of Hurosha still walked after his arrest by General Drakksen, the man held seeming to be a double, and if the supplementary reports made available to the Triumvirate through Celero's embassy were accurate witness accounts suggested the Raven still lived, possessing some wicked power of preserving his own life essence. Such has brought some manner of concern to the Senate and the Triad Council at large. The Raven, as the man known as Ridovo is referenced in Triumviral documents, has made himself a known and dangerous terrorist with his actions at the Council and has earned himself a position among most wanted and dangerous criminals in Triumviral lands. Former orders called for his capture and that he be expedited to the Hurosha Empire but the Shahidi Elder Council has now altered the orders, allowing for his killing as necessary and for a Triumviral trial and potential to face execution within Triumviral borders.

Rumors circulate that the Triad Council is in processes of acquiring further information regarding the Raven from his assumed homelands of Kasumor and its government but so far have not released any official statements pertaining to the terrorist outside his kill or capture status.

    Spoiler: Rumors & Happenings
    Show

    • The recent aid granted to Celero and AQUA in their grand pursuits is said to be signs of the Reformist influence on Triad Policy
    • Rumor has it the Triumvirate is seeking to absorb Celero and AQUA into its fold
    • The Senate supposedly erupted into a heated argument when request for aid came from the Salterri Imperium in regards to their war. Eventually it was decided that as a responsible government the Triumvirate had an obligation to think of its citizens first before committing them to foreign wars.
    • Chancellor Dyamusan Ignato dies in the year 440 at the age of 78. His son, Kilwen Ignato is confirmed as Chancellor of Woodwind by the Senate.
    • It is said in equal measure that on his death bed Dyamusan called out and cursed his bastard daughter Miranda Rien or conversely that he begged for her and pleaded for her forgiveness.
    • Korath Ignato II retires from his service to the Wapigani-Watafiti at the age 56 in the year 437, joining the watafiti as a full time monk in his elder years. He is said to have visited his uncle when he was on his death bed and to have given his blessing to his cousin to claim sole propriety of the Ignato name, having no desire to associate himself with politics.
    • The Kobolds of K'Braashriix have begun to assemble in small groups in small taverns in Miji Mkuu, playing songs and singing enchanting ballads in their native language. These impromptu singing groups have met with much success and more Kobolds have begun to recognize the awe their majestic voices inspire in the people of the surface.
    • Senator Kondriix Valtis of K'Braashriix has begun to make waves in the Senate with his avocation of civil liberties and rights which has caught Senators from Reformist and Traditionalist camps with its fervor.
    • Soldiers stationed in the Forts along Nyroth's eastern border in the Barli Mountains have reported vast columns of Huroshan troops marching north. When asked their purpose the Huroshan Commander was said to have answered that they marched to hold the Burning Mountains against the Union and the wildmen of the North. The fort commander wished the Hurosha forces luck and bequeathed a few crates of food surplus to the marching army, knowing the harshness of the coming winter in the north.
    • Grizzland Senators are in an uproar over the Salterri Civil War despite it having little to no effect on themselves or their holdings. Some cry for the head of Qzare Rongyao, the others Qzare Tailong, and still others clamor to lay the blame on the Empire of Dawn in allowing their vassal Guilder to threaten the Canal and force their hand in closing it as well as allowing their vassal to become involved in matters far distanced from their own land. Despite the general divisiveness of the Grizzland arguments the last point was used often in the debate on Triumvirate involvement, many questioning Doge Inigo's care for his own people in sending them off to die for a foreign power to whom he had no relation.

5.) Spread Children of Kina as a Minority in Wenyavuk Success [Faith]

    Spoiler: Fluff
    Show

    Year 440
Loris walked amid the Yorukuni troops, Prince Daiki matching her stride purposefully. Common blooded the lot of them. She could smell it. Not that Prince Daiki was any better in truth, but he had been elevated, his children bore the blood of Aristocracy, a royal line would yet form. But these men, they had no great reward to look forward to, no beautiful aristocratic wife to return to once Sanctuary had again come closer to complete reunification, yet they still fought for Daiki, a man who had led them for years when the majority of the Aristocracy had fled West and been granted official titles and recognition by her mother. He had earned their loyalty and though many had died in the previous year's campaign in Galie Noiret against the firelance wielding zealots of the flame they did not falter in their allegiance and loyalty. Loris would have the same.

Her sister was, shockingly, not with her, the twins had gone separate ways despite sharing a journey north to Yorukuni. Loris to the encampment outside Galie Noiret and Kyria continuing to Wenyavuk to meet with their cousin, the chieftain after holding congregation among the Aristocracy. Kyria was less interested in the war than her sister, it was not that she disapproved of the actions being taken, she was not as driven and wracked by the ideals of peace as their mother was, she simply didn't have the tact or enjoyment for a well planned war that her sister had. Kyria preferred matters of religion, having embraced the teachings of Kina with such fervor that Loris and perhaps the entirety of the Heartwaste court had been swept up in her enthusiasm. She had been journeying to spread the faith throughout the holdings, desiring especially to root out the teachings of the Lord of Fire, a light spirit whose domain still drew far greater power than the spirits of the dark who yet needed to rise to greater heights to restore proper balance to the world. It was a theological belief not taught by the Islanders regarding Kina, but adopted in accordance with the Spiritual beliefs of the Yorukuni and Ashmarism and made into part of the orthodoxy of the religion as it spread amongst the Freehold.

Loris came to the end of the line of the soldiers and turned to address Prince Daiki.

"I shall lead them in this battle." she stated simply, her voice cold and smooth.

"But Princess, such would be incredibly dangerous. What would your mother-" the Prince's cadence suggested his "concern" was a practiced falsehood designed to ingratiate himself to the Varinel Princess, but his time among the Aristocracy had clearly already made him more power hungry than he had ever been as a simple General.

"My mother has made me her heir, she trusts me to make my own decisions. You would be wise to do the same."

The Yorukunin turned his palms out in a defeated and subservient gesture, "As you wish Princess."

Loris nodded, and her black bat-like wings unfolded from behind her, she leapt into the air, the leathery appendages flapping powerfully and raising her above the troops. The ceiling of the cavern was her backdrop as she began to lead the army, her army, forward once more, again to meet the fanatics and crush them between the Huroshan warriors of the Black Sea smiting these foes for good and reuniting yet another piece of Ancient Sanctuary.

    *****

    Year 440
Kyria smiled, a genuine smile which was so rare a thing these days, as she approached her distant cousin and Chieftain of Wenyavuk Pawondo Tayanya. She had known the man, most of her life and had liked him more than most despite his being a male. It had been by Kyria's word that he had been sent to claim Wendry Serendel's hand and the position of Chieftain as representative of the Heartwaste Tribe and she had enjoyed a period of great satisfaction when he proved himself so capable, proving himself beyond the limitations of most Fae men.

"Cousin in blood and spirit!" she beamed, opening her arms.

"Ki! Cousin! We are so glad that you made it and across the ice fields, I think few Heartwastians but you and I could bear them! Please, come near the spring and rest, Wendry is taking care of our youngest, but she shall join us soon."

"Bear may be an overstatement, I imagine survived would be more accurate," Kyria moved close to the hot spring, Irfrin's Cauldron, the hot spring that Wenyavuk culture centered around.

"It is not a climate for all, or even for many. I have grown used to it these past years, even come to enjoy it, but I do not think many would choose to make Wenyavuk home if given a choice between it and the Jeweled Cities."

Kyria laughed, but raised an eyebrow. It seemed perhaps Pawondo knew why she was here.

"It is funny you should mention the Jeweled Cities, I was just there last year."

"Learning of Kina, no?" Pawondo asked, his tone already beginning to form a defensive hint.

"Yes, the Goddess calls to me cousin, she calls to all of us, you need only listen."

"I should not desire to listen to the siren song of death, not while the Lord of Fire still burns bright my soul."

Kyria sighed. She knew Pawondo wouldn't be receptive, but she hadn't known how steeped he was in the teachings of the Lord of Fire. Apparently more than she would have desired.

"The Lord of Fire has fallen from grace, his power yet wanes in this world while our goddess' grows. The Blazing Temple burned out, the fuel of the braziers runs low. But death continues as always, marching forward and Kina, her service never-ending, seeks to unite us through its understanding and acceptance. We shall walk as servants to her, spreading her word, following her tenets. It is the path set before us of Faedas, so long lived, to carry her message to the generations of younger races and see her beauty recognized by all."

"These people see enough death, their land is frozen death. Irfrin, the Lord, keeps their fires alive, keeps the steam rising from the earth, he gives them hope in a land scant on such matters. Death adoration is not what these people need."

"But she is not simply death, she is birth. She is the great mother, the darkness from which we have come and to which we shall all return. She cares for her Children, Pawondo, more than the Lord of Fire, he who is so ever distant, never dealing with the mortal realm but to punish those who would rise to threaten. Kina watches us, judges us, takes us into her bosom and births us back upon the world time and again when we are deemed to be worthy and consuming those corrupted too greatly to walk upon the face of Telluris. I do not ask you to reverse your beliefs immediately, but I would seek your permission to preach her word among the tribes. Let them decide themselves if Irfrin, burner of crops and killer of men, or Kina, protector of children and shepherd of death shall be their chosen deity."

Pawondo looked conflicted, but at last he relented, "You speak with great conviction cousin, something within your words must hold great truth to you. I cannot deny you be given a chance to speak with the people, but they shall be free to make their own choices."

"Of course cousin, I thank you for this. Perhaps in time you shall come into Kina's embrace as well."

They were interrupted as Wendry arrived from the Chieftain's quarters a young girl trailing behind her, bundled tightly in mammoth furs. Kyria smiled broadly at her niece, sweeping the little girl up in her arms as Wendry laughed and the three, four counting the occasional interjections of the young Elina, began to talk about more trivial matters.

    AQUA Round 22 (436-440) actions:
Previous round increase: +1 Curiosity, +1 Diplomacy

    Events and Rumors:
---> With the ascension of Shahidi Mkuu Shvedrishti in 434, and the death of King Athelmark of Jarrow in 435, Shahidi Jonas Grant leaves the Radjura faith and goes to live with his sister, the widow Queen Tempest.
---> With the death of Opus Petrichor, the council once has need to vote for a new councilmember. The political might of Queen Fern of Celero and the demand for retribution by the Children of Kina fall behind Andus Fitzrion. He is elected to the council.
---> In a vast bargaining session, Andus is elected leader of AQUA. The title of Regent and Sagamore, however, are retired. He carries the title Skipper-General.
---> In 438, Andus Fitzrion marries Ginger Grant-Tremblor. Their marriage is seen as healing the rifts between factions within AQUA.

Expected Increase this round: +1 Curiosity, +1 Faith

Spoiler: FLUFF: Region 91 initial report
    Show

Preliminary report from Captain Norma Spineraider, Captain of the Child of Fortune

My ship uncovered a string of low islands to the southeast of the Sea of Glass. The Pono al a Ono were correct in their guesses. They really understand ocean currents better than anyone land dweller.

I have dubbed the region the Bloomenvald Islands for they are covered in flowery blooms from shore to shore. We sailed about them for several days, mapping the lands and reefs. No boats nor shore settlements were visible.

I lead a landing party ashore to determine if there were native peoples. One of our first discoveries were a high climbing vine with thin gray/green leaves The leaves have fine hair-like extensions on one side, and deeply grooved thick edge on the other. Some species of hummingbird buzzed past, and the sound of its wings were made louder. It sounded like distant thunder. I have named the plant a ”Thundersheet Vine and included several samples.

Hummingbirds and flowers are everywhere in this vast garden. The air is cloyingly sweet to the point of faintness and nausea. I ordered only short journeys into the verdance. We spent several days making short trips on multiple islands. We did not encounter any any natives, but collected many samples. However, several of my crew failed to return and I grew concerned for their safety. The flower forest was so thick, tracking proved impossible.

It was almost a week after our first expedition that we discovered why our men disappeared, and where the natives were. We came across a large thermal pool. It was fresh water tinged with sulfur from the thermal vent heating it. Across the water floated a species of giant lotus, deep red in color and nearly a foot across in bloom. We dubbed it Grape Lotus Around the shore lay several dozen humans, including one of our crew, in a stupor. Their lips, faces, hands and arms were smeared with the purplish nectar. The sweet smell made us dizzy, and we dragged our compatriot out of there and back to the boat.

Over the next 24 hours, the man exhibited the most unusual behavior. When he was lucid, he begged, pleaded, and fought to go back to the island. We had to physically restrain him and even then he fought his bonds to the point of injury. When he wasn’t lucid, he was gripped with shakes, sweats, and fevers. The Lotus appears to be a highly addictive narcotic of some sort.
I issued orders to leave the islands immediately, lest I lose more crew.

The Kingdom of the Carmine Sea, Round 22

    435
The king is dead! Athelmere, son of Athelmark, first king of the Venns and the Sylphids, Prince of Farridon, first Proconsul Carmine, perished in the campaign in Salteire. He was 74. Precise cause of death is as yet unknown, although it is speculated that the strains of campaigning and the pressures of command, together with the inevitable drop in hygiene standards on campaign ruined his health. Queen Tempest and his younger son Elwyr were with him before he perished. His elder son, Atheldynn, was stranded on the wrong side of the Lyradis blockade.

He is succeeded in all his domains by his cousin and adopted son, Alfmark, the long-time atheling. The new king has declared a week of mourning to be held immediately, while a full funeral will take place when the king's body is returned to Jarrland.

Spoiler: A letter to Jonas Grant
    Show
    Jonas, my last brother

My father worked his whole life for peace, and yet both his sons will die in war. I wonder if he would appreciate the irony. I was warned this campaign would kill me, and perhaps I always knew it would, but Tailong is my lord, my daughter's husband, and father to my grandchildren. I cannot abandon him to an uncertain fate.

I fear for the future. I fear everything we have all worked for over the last sixty years will be brought to ruin by the rapacity of Guilder and the stubborn arrogance of the Priory. I fear the Imperium will be dismembered and my people subjugated.

I fear for my family. Assassins have struck at them before and I fear they will again. I fear for Ambryn's health, for she nearly died bearing her previous children and now she is carrying more. I fear for Atheldynn's life, for I have not heard from him since Tailong disappeared.

I regret that I go to my grave before that snake Petrichor, and before true justice has been done to your parents' legacy. Somehow there is never enough time to do all that we would wish. I am sure Alfmark will continue my policies in that respect at least.

Most of all, I worry for Tempest. I told her not to come to Salteire, but of course she did anyway, and in truth I am glad she did, as I can at least see her one last time before the end. I hope the two of you can be of some comfort to each other in the years to come.

Farewell for now, brother. I hope it is many years before we meet again.

    Mere

    437
A horde of wildlings has descended on Tempestia and Farridon. All subjects are advised to evacuate to the north of each region until the wildlings have been defeated or otherwise dealt with. Local lords are commanded to raise their militia as best they can. Clan chiefs are ordered to raise the militia in Jarrland and Vennland in anticipation of further incursion from the south.

    2. Begin integrating Ultralight Materials and Plate Armour. With recent advancements, some Drugaudan mathematicians have speculated that, so long as proper distribution of weight is maintained, a silken hauberk worn under a suit of plate and anchored in the correct places can be used as a cavor oil vector to minimize the burden placed on the suit's wearer. No additional fluff this round. Out of town for funeral. Trying to cover my bases in my actions here. Got two unspent, but I don't know what to spend them on at the moment. Will try to get something in other than action types, but I might not be able to before round's end.

A Proclamation is Made! [Year 436]

A proclamation from Chief Hierach Belauda Cistae the Matron is heard throughout the realm! The Qzare is dead! Qzare Zuìdà Róngyào has died protecting his friend and brother Li Tailong from the assault of a madman. Yes, the very Tailong for whose sake we are under constant siege, for whose sake thousands of our people are killed. The Qzare Zuìdà Róngyào was indeed a great and honorable man, a man willing to lay down his life for his friend, even when that friend and that friend's allies have turned their backs on him and their blades against him. Know now, oh people, that your leader was among the greatest of those who have lived and fight ever harder in his memory! Know the wrongs that this evil man Jiao'ao perpetrates against us and fight! If our leader could stand before a madman and fight for what he believed is right, though it cost him everything, how can we do any less? Fight for the glory and the honor and the memory of the Qzare!

News of Róngyào's sacrifice, the proof of the innocence of the Priory, and the duplicitous, bloodthirsty attacks by the Jiao'ao and those he serves are sent throughout the Imperium and its vassals.

The Qzare Zuìdà Róngyào's son, Zuìdà Hépíng is crowned Qzare Puerum. Chief Hierach Belauda Cistae the Matron is to serve as regent until the nine year old boy comes of age. Huáng Tàihòu Brockton, as queen mother, is to serve as her direct advisor.

Two months after Róngyào's death, Consort Wěi Qīng, gives birth to his daughter. The daughter is named Zuìdà-Wěi Fēiyàn after the small birds who seemed to follow her and build nests around her nursery.

    Spoiler: Titles
    Show
The term Qzare Puerum means, essentially, "Young Qzare" and is being used here as the term for a crowned Qzare who is not yet old enough to hold the throne while the government is overseen by a regent.

Huáng Tàihòu is literally Empress Dowager.

War! [Whatever year the invasions happen... ]

Once more, the bloodthirsty forces loyal to the Xiu press the attack, this time joined by the faithless, traitorous dwarves who say one thing with their mouths and do another the moment your back is turned. The Priory officially declares all ties to Mularuhm broken by these traitors. It has become a common saying among the people of the Priory that, when one lies, he is said to be "speaking dwarven". Immediately upon the conclusion of hostilities, however they are resolved, an edict is passed to deport or detain all dwarves of Mularuhm origin within the Priory, regardless of their previous legal status.

    Non-Actions:
    • Cancel all ongoing trades with the Salterri Heartlands, the Kingdom of the Carmine Sea, and Palas Caercia. Such trades and gifts were continued in a good faith effort in attempts to negotiate peace; however, all three nations have now proven themselves either unwilling or incapable of peace.
(Including: Gold for Limestone (Jarrland), a gift of Silver to Aus-Teire, Salt for Orichalcum (Pontensulae), Bracian Beer for Flax (Palas Caercia), Grain for Potatoes (Palas Caercia), and anything else I missed.

    Actions:
    • [Diplomacy] Attend the Second International Council
      • Confirm Trade again: Borterri Ale (Bor-Teire #34) for Mithril (Mularuhm #64B), directing Mithril to Salteire #35. Nope!
    • [Diplomacy] Give all technologies owned by the Priory to Ri Chugang and negotiate a safe haven for the Qzare Puerum and Huáng Tàihòu should they need a place to retreat. [Curiosity] Assist Ri Chugang's Great Project (2/5?)
    • [Military] Raise Militia in all regions.
    • [Military] Defend Salteire (#35). Though in her 70s, Chief Hierach Belauda Cistae the Matron takes it upon herself to direct the battle.
