Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
Likely story. He's obviously been growing pot in the forest and had to get rid of it all or leave the country because of a 4/20 crackdown. (<- that is a joke )

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
First sensible public thing they've done during this entire situation. Hopefully they'll also get him some professional help now, if they haven't already.
It's a terrible situation to be in with all the commitments that he has, but life is a balancing act. And while you can pick up your career again if you drop it; good health is one of those things that you'll never get back if you let it go.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
In case anyone would happen to notice here before the actual site Thunt has posted a (funny but insane) excerpt from the blog he hasn't written and is tweeting nonsense.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
To be fair, Jayne is Twitter, but Inara can't be "NOT an example of sexual objectification" her job involves that 70% of time (talking the other 30)? When most of your job involves sex... you are likely an example of sexual objectification.
Sometimes there aren't enough face palms for Thunt.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
I was going to start talking about all the reasons I agree with you about Inara, but then I remembered that, before I saw Firefly, I got tired of Firefly fans obsessing over the show and hijacking threads with it, so I'll just leave it at "I agree with you about Inara."
And the blog post made me , but mostly

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
Revealing that a large part of his explanation blog was trying to figure out which Firefly cast member was which social network tells me he still has a long way to go. I think I'm going with the others and removing the bookmark for awhile. If and when it returns, I'll put it back, but I just don't have patience for these shenanigans anymore.

I'd leave, too, but I consider this one of those trainwreck things. I just can't look away.

I'm just gonna drop an 'I told you so' on the whole 'Thunt isn't a professional and that is bad' thing, feel vindicated about the discussions a few weeks ago and walk out like a boss now.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
I actually kind of liked the unwritten blog update, sure it tells us absolutely nothing at all about THunts situation and if it was supposed to then that doesn't bode well for the rest of the blog, but I thought it was funny and it made me smile. So I guess that's win.
Now that I think about it, though, I am kind of disturbed that I'm amused by the products of someone's misery

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
I deleted my Goblins bookmark a while ago but find my self checking the site daily anyways, making doing so pointless.
Somehow I always manage to convince myself that the comic will be up that day.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
I actually found that whole tangent to be really really funny, like laugh out loud make my roommate knock on the door to make sure in ok funny. Then it hit me how manic the guy must be at when he wrote that and it made me sad. Also we may as well hijack the thread with Firefly it's kinda relevant and it will give us time to talk about something while we wait for the next thing to pop up.
Thanks to Linklele for my new avatar!

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
Well I hope he gets better, talking with a professional would probably be a good idea but many tend to avoid such things.
I will continue reading if there are new comics, since I do not check for updates manually anyway. It is not like leaving it in my rss feed costs me any effort.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
I think what Thunt meant is that while she uses her sexuality, and other characters might objectify her, the character herself isn't a cheap one dimentional sexual object, she is very 3-D, with many strengths (and flaws), not submissive to men (she pick her own clients for instance) and not there just for horny people to stare at. She is most certainly not porn, so she cannot be a porn website. And I agree with him on that.
While it's absolutely possible to objectify her as a fan, I believe the same is true of all the characters, male or female. But Inara is not fanservice. Saffron is closer to fanservice, but she too has a backstory and personality that make her more complex than just that.
Anyone who has watched Tarol draw knows that he goes on tangents every now and then. He had a long discussion about noses that was hilarious. This is a perfect example of that. This, to me, says that he wrote his blog as a strem-of-consciousness with the intent of removing everything that wasn't related to the issue. And you know what? I think it was a good idea. Writing with too many specific restrictions lead to pressure and to not writing anything at all. Going "whatever, I'll write down everything, anything, and then edit it into something that makes sense later" is a much better approach, less likely to lead to a blank page.
I'm sure he only shared this because he figured people might get a kick out of it.Last edited by Lissou; 2014-04-24 at 05:53 PM.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
Regarding Inara, she's miles away from what Fox was thinking by asking for a space prostitute on the ship. Heck, I think TNT execs wanted basically the same from the Babylon 5 spinoff Crusade, with Dureena making "first contact" with aliens through sex regularly, IIRC. Suddenly I feel dirty having watched network television with people like that in charge.

Re: Goblins XIV: Clerical Omission.
Believe me, it could have been much worse. Thunt posted a larger portion of the blog on his forums a few days ago to ask fans for advice on whether he should go public with it. Without going into too much detail, not only would it have reignited some of his old social media battles (which apparently played a big role in his recent breakdown); it also would have likely gotten him embroiled in an entirely new one in a manner reminiscent of the rape survivor incident, except in some ways worse because (a) he really has no excuse for not knowing by now that using his blog as a platform to publicly antagonize someone is a bad idea even if he prefaces it by asking his fans not to harass her, and (b) he would be the clear instigator in this case, as the only reason he brought her up was in reference to some sort of weird cognitive dissonance about PTSD, not because she'd said anything about Goblins.
Seriously, all I could think when reading it was Can we, like, hire somebody to just stand over Thunt with a rolled-up newspaper, ready to deal out a good thwacking whenever he's about to do something that will only make things worse? Is that a thing?
Fortunately, most of the people in those threads gave sound advice, and he has since deleted them. (Though they were already reposted on other websites by that point because, well, this is the Internet; of course they were.)
The full blog at the time he posted was apparently 37 pages. I suspect that when it is finished, he intends to use it as a weapon against Psimax.Avatar by Tom Siddell, author and artist of Gunnerkrigg Court.
