In regards to the use of the word 'scum' it is a very aggressive word where as in comparison wolf isn't. It's a lot more to do with the fact that we try to keep things as civil as possible around here than anything else. I for one would appreciate any and all effort to avoid usage of the word and use more palatable alternatives.

As for nuances you should be aware of?

Perhaps the biggest is that people are generally not as active as you're probably used to. Other than that, the prevailing attitude is to have fun rather than win, and we really try to avoid ugly arguments.

But of course the bad guys are evil, heinous losers who have no redeeming qualities whatsoever and deserve to be brutally eliminated as painfully and humiliatingly as possible, so I'm not one of the people who mind the term 'scum'. Citation needed. This is certainly more prevalent than elsewhere, but I'm dubious of it being true overall. Sabotaging your team for teh lols is still the worst thing you can do.

It's, ah, it's the tone of the word, honestly. Yeah, it's silly, but I'm one of those who'd prefer basically any other term. I find the word 'scum' has a, well, a tone to it. You can't really say it without adding that aggressive, angry tone to it, sort of thing.

Argh. I can't really explain this well. It's like, if you don't swear very often so when you do, your mouth twists just a little and you reflexively throw more emphasis onto the swear, making it sound, I don't know, more intense? That's the sort of thing I get out of 'scum.'

Oh, no, not to that extent. People don't sabotage or play against their win conditions. My example was of course very extreme, to show how winning is still important, but actually your example is just a milder, nobler-intentioned instance of the same thing. As a wolf I would vehemently fight that sort of thing.
As an aside, the way to prevent that problem is to not scry people like that. Often, it's a wasted scry, especially if you end up killing that person anyway later.

And Saposhiente's initial lynch suggestion is apparently preconstructed...? Clearly it will be reliable and trustworthy.

What's wrong with the word wolf? Better yet, what's right with the word scum? Consider it a difference in dialect. You can either learn the vernacular or get weird stares (short rants) from a handful of posters.

Because they're not always actually wolves, and in some forums mafiosos are actually more common than wolves. Scum is always applicable.

The game rules might legalize it, but as a village we make nightkills illegal, upon penalty of lynching. Except vigkills, those guys are all right.

Voider = Roleblocker but with the additional power to silence someone the next day, as far as I can tell.
Mason = same
Fool = Cop who gets random results, kind of like a Naive cop, but with no way of proving that they're Naive because they can occasionally get a wrong guilty result too. So scrying (investigating) someone guilty doesn't even mean they are guilty. You still can be the Fool, not the Seer.
Seers and Fools reveal as Seer-Fool upon their death, usually, to make it more difficult for village to tell which is which. Seers and Fools often have identical role PMs so they can't tell which they are.

On this forum, when a Seer or Fool dies we usually reveal the exact role they were. Are you saying that you do it differently?
