The guard firmly but not painfully shackles jadeite and Sora's hands behind their backs, and ushers them downstairs past Cesare and Natasha.

Elsee and Badger:

Badger clicks her heels together and lands on the ground twenty feet away from the topiary lion. She doesn't even look back as she picks herself up and takes off running, but if she had she would have seen, and not just heard, Elsee and Kheel slam into the lion and try to slow it down. As it is, the second topiary dire badger charging towards her warrants enough of her attention.

Draconi, Elsee and Kheel were too far to reach the second dire badger, but they were close enough to reach the lion that attacked Badger! I hope this is okay.

Kheel snags his talons around what would be the topiary lion's neck and pulls back with all his might.

Natasha:

The guard nods and moves to bring her and Cesare downstairs to the same place, but something passes over the dwarf's face and he holds up a hand. "No," he says. "If we must hide, then we can hide in one of the rooms up here."

"Not the safe--" the guard begins, but the words die on his lips at the expression on Cesare's face.

Sora and Jadeite:

The head guard and two of her assistants chip Jadeite out of the tanglefoot bag and bring Sora to her feet, then carefully lead them downstairs. Halfway down, they stop. That's because there's a patch of shiny grease barely visible in the dim light of the room, and several guards chasing a flying (well, more like air-crawling) Surdrak around the room.

Surdrak:

As Surdrak flies around the room and the guards chase him, he catches sight of Sora and Jadeite, both in manacles, being led downstairs by some guards. Jadeite has bits of dried tanglefoot goo stuck to him, and Sora looks like she's just thrown up.

And disillusioned. She's paying very little attention to the world around her.

Jadeite does nothing but take in the scene and try to get Surdrak's attention. For the warlock's part, the guards are ineffectually chasing him around the room, though the wizard has resorted to shooting magic missiles at him.

Surdrak's blast hits the dwarf in the chest with a sizzle and sends her flying. When she hits the ground again, she's unconscious.

The guards who are leading Sora and Jadeite down the stairs let out a shout of alarm and fling tanglefoot bags at Surdrak.

"Are you certain?" Natasha asked. "We don't know how many intruders there are! Are you really willing to risk your life on the assumption that Susanna, a highly dangerous fugitive, didn't bring anyone more capable than this riffraff?"

Cesare opens his mouth to reply when a shout of alarm, a cry of, "Intruders in the main room!" echoes up the stairs. He looks at Natasha and folds his arms, as if to say that the choice has been taken out of their hands regardless.

Everyone but badger, Natasha, and elsee:

The tanglefoot bag splatters all over surdrak, wncasing him in the foul glop. It hardens almost instantly, binding his legs and half the eldritch tentacles together. But Surdrak manages to duck out of the worst of it, and so although the tendrils strain to claw the air, he manages to stay airborne.

Surdrak is entangled and can only move at half speed, but he's still able to fly.

Elsee and Badger:

With a groan and mighty strain of his wings, Kheel ratchets his talons tight around the wooden neck of the topiary lion and slowly lifts it into the air.

Behind her, badger hears slow wingbeats, a whooshing rustling sound, and a crash like someone falling into a very large pile of leaves. If she turns around, she'll see the topiary dire badger that was pursuing her flattened under the topiary lion that was also pursuing her. The dire lion is now upside down and looks like it's had several close encounters with a lawn mower. Above them, Elsee and Kheel hover in the air, roaring in triumph.

Badger bolts to the gate. When she reaches it, her ankle screaming in pain, it's closed and locked.

Flying slightly upwards, Surdrak closes his eyes and yells:

If his assumptions are right, the goo would shatter off, or at least most of it.

Badger shook the gates for a second and turned back to look at Elsee and Kheel. Focusing outside the gate she activated her boots again, ready to flee.

The hardened goo cracks at the earsplitting shriek, and the larger cracks fall off. Jadeite looks up at Surdrak and shouts, "What are you doing?"

both jadeite an sora are in manacles and flanked by guards. Jadeite has remnants of a tanglefoot bag on his robes but appears uninjured. Sora looks like she's vomited and then bluescreened.

Elsee and Badger:

Badger musters up all her fight and warps through the gate. Mid-jump she feels a clawing at the back of her mind, the sinking feeling of a curse...

But her will holds firm and when the world reappears she's on the other side of the gate, In the streets.

Elsee pulled back on Kheel's reigns to inficate for him to stop just over Badger's head, once more speaking in their broken mix of Goblin and Draconic. "Fly ahead and find a clear path for us to follow, fewer guards, fewer people, the better." Once she was sure Kheel had processed the message Elsee twisted her hips just enough to prompt her to fall off Kheel's back, activating her ring of feather falling and landing next to Badger on the street. "Lets get the hell out of here."

Badger paused a moment, surprised the small goblin had not abandoned her once she was clear of the gate. "We need to split. Kheel can make sure you are safe, but I can't." She pulled the necklace she had kept after the message to Lief, the stone catching torchlight. "If you stay free, I can contact you. I don't know if you are allowed where I am going."

[Draconi Redfir]

Elsee grinned and shrugged. "So what if i'm not allowed there? 'ts never stopped me before. 'sided, yer legs stell all busted up remember? You need ME to protect YOU!"

Elsee and Badger:

Kheel falls silent and stares out into the distance. When he speaks, it's in Draconic but with an unmistakeably nervous tone. "Someone's coming. A lot of someones."

Indeed, if Elsee and Badger follow Kheel's gaze they can see the figures of several people hurrying towards the manor. The streets in the Heights are well-lit, so it's also easy to see that they're all in uniform and armed.

Everyone else:

The guards use the last tactic they have: Diplomacy. They call out to Surdrak, "Surrender now and you will not be harmed!"

The distraught Sora shrieks as Surdrak's magic hits the guard. She then hurries to one of the walls to get out of the way of fire.

Elsee frowned as she perred into the darkness, a hand gesture indicating for Kheel to land. "We've got trouble coming. Kheel, get on the ground, we need you and flying above us will only let em know where we are." Elsee turned the badger again. "Guards coming, a whole lot ofg em. Fanxcy a trip in the sewers, or do you have a better idea? PLEASE have a better idea."

"Run?" Badger took off down the street.

Badger races away from the guards at top speed, ignoring the increasing pain in her ankle.

The guard yelps as Surdrak blasts him, and another one runs across the room towards the locked study. A third one, who is escorting Jadeite and Sora, looks out the window and shouts, "Just hold out a little longer!"

She is going to try to duck down alleys, get back to the poorer districts. She will try to avoid both guards and civilians, using her remaining two boot charges if needed to get past obstacles (say she is cornered, she might use them to go into a building if there is a window, or on a roof). Ah, and tell me if she sees the guy with the cart?

Badger:

The night provides little respite from the muggy heat smothering Runite, and the street lights are almost hazy in the oppressive humidity. Their light still clearly illuminates badger as she runs down the wide open streets of The Heights. Great Gate is directly south and also a wealthy neighborhood, but it's one of the oldest parts of the city. While that doesn't mean much for Runite, there are still several twisted roads and alleyways. The Docks are to the south, and the more working-class parts of the city are to the east, past the shopping district and canal. And the Omnicart runs on a diagonal from Great Gate just south of her to Necal in the northeast.

Spoiler: Sorry, but there are a lot of potential paths.

Badger is in the western part of Runite. Great Gate is to the south. The shopping and civic districts where the guild and several temples are is in the center and the Docks are to the south of that. As you get east you reach the canal, Canal Street, and several working to middle class neighborhoods. There's other temples scattered throughout the city too, and several in these eastern Runite neighborhoods. Where do you want to go and what direction do you want to take?

Elsee quickly motioned for Kheel to follow on foot as Badger took off, the two shorter creatures running after her as fast as their little feet could carry them, Elsee's eyes always darting back behind her to make sure Kheel was able to keep up. Because of this and Keel's large wings and tail being more cumbersome on the ground, the two of them likely lagged behind Badger, though were hopefully able to catch up once she stopped to catch her breath.

Elsee:

It's slow going on foot, and every time Elsee turns back the guards seem a bit closer. After nearly a minute of running they're now close enough for her to be just about able to make out individual forms.

Surdrak, Sora, and Jadeite:

Jadeite gawks at Surdrak as he shatters the shackles, then takes one look at Sora and nods. "Right--sorry about this, but we must be on our way!" He grabs their hands and brings them together, and all three feel a yanking around their midsection, as if someone had suddenly yanked them with a hook. The force makes them close their eyes, and when they open them again, they're out in the garden--now emptied of people, though topiary guardians crawl the grounds.

"Surdrak, fly Sora out of here. I'll be right behind. Hurry!"

[Draconi Redfir]

Elsee hissed to herself as she saw the guards getting closer, quickly motioning for Kheel to get into the air, speaking in their odd mix of Goblin and Draconic. "Okay okay fly fly! We'll practice your footwork later just don't get killed!"

Elsee waited untill Kheel was in the air and the guard's eyes momentairily distracted before turning her attention to the nearest wall, a couple of garbage bins sat next to a drainage pipe, it was better then sticking to the ground that was for sure. With any luck Elsee and Kheel spliting up would distract the guards long enough for Badger to get out of sight, they'd regroup (again) later.

He takes a few moments to arrenge a hold that will be comfortable to both of them in any meaning of the word before taking to the air, gaining altitude before moving towards the guild.

After the last of the adrenaline stopped to retire for the night, Surdrak got less stiff and said:
