Re: Peebles' Perfectly Pointless Popular Prattle - Random Banter #211
It's a cute widdly cartoony mouse. Granted the material is ever-so-slightly see-through and short, but I'm fairly sure the cartoon mousekin detracts from any potential attractiveness outside of cuteness.
Oh, I forgot it was Commercialism and 'Romance' Day this week; my mind was more focussed on Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday. Pancakes are awesome, particularly when you use the juice from freshly cut lemons and limes and then liberally sprinkle with sugar.
No, I'm not even being bitter, I'm perfectly happy being single. [/sincerity mode]
And despite actually going through the effort of pointing out my actual happiness with this and marking it with a sincerity tag people are still going to think 'not sure if sarcastic or not . . . '.
I am not being sarcastic; I shall point out the sincerity mode tag again.
My sister's 'haircuts' stem from me getting frustrated with her split-ends travelling inches up her back leading to me taking a pair of scissors to it.
I call it Sisterly Maintenance.
But your situation is pretty much the same: can't be bothered.
Yeah; and then it turns out that one of the songs I replaced had an inferior sound quality to it. It was, of all things, slightly sped up until it was almost at chipmunk speed, the bass had been fiddled with until it was near non-existent in that song (a dance/pop song reliant on a fairly loud beat) and it was just . . . ick.
So I had to re-download a song again.
Yus, 'twas me. And I was in that weird state of mind where I was feeling frustratedly annoyed, tired and lazy enough that I couldn't be bothered to finish doing it that first night, leaving me to do it last night.
I mean, it was so monotonous, so there wasn't even the benefit of being able to concentrate properly on something; just copy this, download that, tag everything properly, delete corrupted songs from laptop and Zen, make note of song number, add correct song number . . .
Made me tired just thinking about it, hence taking two days to download maybe two dozen songs.
*high fives of successful troubleshooting-ness*
I understood that. I feel smart!
Have a cookie for explaining something technical in such a way that I understood it.
Well the picture I saw in the You thread was when the Photoshop Tinkerer played with some things; don't know when that was taken or posted, but it's the most recent one I saw of you.
Ginger and lemon tea with added honey.
Drink it, grimace at the taste, feel relieved that it's not the vile filth known as Lemsip, feel pain and fogginess alleviated for a short while, work on. Repeat as necessary.
That's pretty neat, as is the cat. At least he hasn't figured out about the benefits of curling up and sleeping/resting right over your heart and lungs yet. Cats like the up-down sensation and the feeling of the heartbeat. Trust me on this; it's why she's now called Boobs.
I . . . think it was mostly Hair That Exists, though at times it became I Have Long, Awesome Hair That Needs To Be Taken Care of Slightly Better Than It Is Now.
On That Note (OTN):
(Tangent: I think I may have popularised ION/IO(etc.)N/IRN, so let's add another one to that!)
You know how when you buy conditioner/shampoo there's always that little bit left in the bottom that doesn't come out easily? And then, because you naturally noticed your shampoo/conditioner was getting low a while ago you bought a replacement bottle, you bring out the new one, thinking to yourself "I'll finish off the old bottle alongside it," only you never do, leaving barely-filled bottles of hair stuff all over the bathroom?
I've been making it my mission to get rid of my bottles of hair stuff and shower gel (I always get so many bathing products for Christmas that I don't actually need to buy anything other than shampoo/conditioner) as possible recently, so I can move onto new things. Or continue using my stuff, but without the guilt of leftovers.
And Tresemme conditioner never ends. I've been working on emptying this one (admittedly massive) bottle for about two week; every time I condition I pour out an enormous glob - enough to drown a small kitten - and souse my hair in it. But there's always more left. It's like an endless fountain of goo!
On the plus side, because I'm drowning my hair in conditioner a tiny little bit always gets left over after rinsing (impatient Koorly is impatient) and my hair goes fabulously curly/wavy.
And I'm too lazy to dry it, so it drip dries. Today I went to the shops with three-quarters dry hair, and at the front I had an honest to God quiff.
The bottle's still not empty even though I shook out enough conditioner to completely obscure my entire hand from the wrist to the second knuckle.
The level on that damn thing hasn't changed in weeks.
And I really want to try out a shampoo bar, but I have a basically-full bottle of [insert lots of nature and health-friendly chemical-free things here] jojoba shampoo to finish. Maybe I can share it with the Sister of the Bellybutton Length Hair, she's nearly out of shampoo too. But she's insanely skimpy on the shampoo and conditioner.
Honestly, hand-me-down bathing products shouldn't be so hard to get rid of.
EDIT:
ION:
Oh, and I noticed down the shops that it's now stocking new types of Twinings.
Beetroot and blackcurrant tea. :smallwhat:
Oranges and lemons tea. Yes, I know it's actually orange and lemon but I'm sorry, the nursery rhyme has a great hold on me.
Buttermint tea. (That'd be peppermint and vanilla tea) I really want to try this. A lot.
Apples and pears tea. (Same as oranges and lemons, but with Cockney slang)
Mango and strawberry.
So, help me justify a minor tea buying binge. And which ones.Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2015-02-21 at 07:05 PM.

I have three personal boxes of tea, all partially finished; one box of Breakfast Tea That Is Technically BBB's (my elder younger brother) But That I Drink On Occasion and the entire family has roughly six hundred bags of PG Tips.
They were on sale, and for some reason the parents have no taste at all.
Oh, and Dad inherited some tea I didn't like as it had both cinnaminaminamon and liquorice in it. And anise.
Trust me, I buy tea. And that's why every time I go over the imposed Three Personal Boxes someone takes away one of my boxes and throws them out.
So I need to justify.

Re: Peebles' Perfectly Pointless Popular Prattle - Random Banter #211
That's a fun mental image to imagine. For whatever reason, I imagine the sheep being tied to a balloon as well, and floating upward, restrained only by your string... I need to go to sleep. What kind of charities do you donate to?
Goat kids are flippin' adorable, even when they have holes in their heads after their horns have been removed. Adult goats are also adorable. They do smell, though. Human kids... too many of them grabbing at the sheep, pulling ears and poking and not letting go.... to be honest, the pony club were more of a pain because while they know how to look after animals, they tied up about nine ponies on the yard for grooming and there was nowhere to put the horses that needed mucking out. They're also our direct responbility, which is another level of stress.
Animal stories.... Well, there's a few, such as the time one of the ponies barged past me, ran out of the yard and I had to chase after her before she reached the football (soccer) field, where she would be nearly uncatchable. It's important to know that the path she ran down took her past the field where we were keeping some of the other horses. When I caught her, I'd not had the time to get any headcollars, halters or ropes, so I just had to grab a handful of mane and push her about to go back. When we passed the horses' field, they remembered her running past earlier and started cantering about. She decided to join in, and while she was a small pony she still weighed at least 300kg and I didn't have a secure hold of her. She took off at the same speed as before and I chased after shouting a few swearwords... and nearly ran over some poor family out for a walk, first the pony, then my family-unfriendly dialogue, then me.
Unfortunately, I missed this one, but there's photo evidence in the farm office. Like I said earlier, city farms usually have a petting zoo component, in this case selling little bags of animal feed for the public to feed to the ruminants. While we used to sell these over the farm shop counter, we later switched to small vending machines, which had a few early issues. You see, there was an ideal spot to put them, right outside the cows' field. One of the cows worked out that food came out of the machine when people put money in, so she started loitering by the feed machines. When somebody came along and bought some food, she would quickly stick her tongue in the trough and eat it before they could put in the bag.
The most recent isn't so much an animal story as one of those times where you say the wrong thing without thinking, but it's pretty funny. Basically, I noticed that one of the farm staff had taken her pet ball python out of it's vivarium and accidently said the worst thing possible.
Me: Oh, you've got your snake out! (because ball pythons are cute)
(there's a slight pause while I realise what I've said and facepalm. The room bursts out laughing.)
Her: Yep, he's three and a half feet long.
(more laughter)
In the UK, the stereotype is more of a laid back, slow to talk person who is a bit isolated from city life and is generally busy doing difficult farming stuff. It's not any more correct, but it is a much more welcoming image.
Most farmers are actually pretty intelligent, as they have to balance their profits and losses, know about animal or plant biology, keep track of everything that goes on at the farm, know what drugs and what doses are needed for their livestock/fields, be able to identify various diseases and parasites and many other things. I'm glad I'm just a farmhand for the moment. The place where I am is pretty geeky, though.

Chair-gondola! I want to do this now (and naturally I would then be singing songs from The Gondoliers while doing it).
Detracts possibly, but the attractiveness will still be there in spades.
I spent Valentine's Day playing videogames alone in my bedroom!
I am also fairly OK with this. Would like to leave my singledom, but I'm nonetheless happy enough as I am. Or at least any unhappiness is unrelated to relationship woes.
I do things like that when either I want to switch off my brain off to avoid thinking about something, or it's already kinda switched off, which is usually when I'm tired and hungover after a party. Such as now, or at least later today. University's production of Yeomen was fantastic. Disappointed in all these new young people in the society who can't keep a party going until the sun comes up. Most everyone got tired and departed before 4am, and here's me, got a taxi to a friend's, sat up for another hour until I could get an early metro home, still haven't slept yet. Admittedly I'm basically subsisting on cold leftover Chinese takeaway and willpower right about now, but the fact remains that I clearly have more partying stamina than those less than two thirds my age."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'

Compartmentalize so that you're not looking at the whole 365 days at once, so you start with the first day and then the first week then the second week then the third then the fourth then the second month and so on. Lay out your weekly and daily routine in advance and see where you can budget your drawing time to make the plan to make use of it.
Granted, finding people who've done it to ask them might serve you better.
Find tutorials about drawing by hand starting with whatever you might have around the house. Printer paper is superior to notebook paper if you're truly without other recourse. Or hit up your local library and find a beginning art book or Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, which is supposed to be a great introduction.

Wait, you mean the replacement song was sped up or the original? I assume the latter from context, but...
But yeah, bitrates are always fun...
The funny thing is that this is the sort of task I would do without blinking. Before I got to the lowest line, I thought you were talking about half a hundred songs or so.
*noms cookie*
The autumn ones with green grass and yellow trees? Yes, those were from November. Or October, I can't quite remember any longer...
Though that reminds me I need to recharge my camera battery...
Hmmm...
Isn't this a prime example of IRN? I mean, it's news and all...
Can't you justify that BBB's tea should be counted from his subtotal and not yours?
Circles are extremely hard. Don't even think about starting to judge yourself based on the geometrical figure for which people hold competitions in as accurately remembering the diameter-to-circumference ratio of as possible. I've had maths lecturers which have been drawing circles for years and still only manages something which looks like a soggy cardboard box.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

Same here. I'm trying to draw characters for a game I'm making, and I'm going at it in GIMP, and I have a neato stylus and everything, but my characters don't look good at all. On paper, I have the same problem. I might post some of my designs for critiques once I've refined them a bit more, but I still don't like the way they've been turning out.

Re: Peebles' Perfectly Pointless Popular Prattle - Random Banter #211
Different strokes for different folks.
I never really got into Valentine's Day, but a good part of that is down to the fact that neither my family, nor any of the schools I went to ever really bothered to pay attention to it. The closest we usually came to celebrating it was the Lazy Teacher Excuse: it's a holiday, let's watch a video.
However, chocolate is good, and shortly all the Valentine's Day chocolate will be on offer, and then there will be a sugar rush.
Do it. Record it. Post it. Bonus points if you do it buy a river.
Potentially.
Video games passed me buy, somewhat unwillingly.
I'd have liked to play them, but I couldn't/didn't/wasn't allowed to. Ah well, if I missed out, I missed out.
It's not dull enough for me to do that, it requires just enough management and attention when I'm trying to do other things that I'm always a little distracted. :/
How was Yeoman received, both by the audience and the cast? Heh, people who can't handle all-night parties. Remember when I came up to Newcastle and there was that party that finished at, what, six? And then we were all up and about by eight?
Anyway, you probably slept away the day. So how's the inverted day-night cycle treating you?
It was the replacement - distracted Koorly makes for ambiguous syntax. At first I didn't think anything of it (the replacement song sounding different) because I also had to switch headphones after breaking my preferred ones (why do they always break in the right ear?!) and I thought the sound difference was because of that; particularly the bass being . . . lighter.
But by about the minute mark I'd realised that it was the song, not my headphones.
Fun times.
And now I've noticed there's another song like in another folder as I took the opportunity to download other songs as well. Hooray replacements.
Well it was two dozen a day, hence the division of the task.
I suppose if I wanted to put actual effort into it I could have done it in a few hours, but I was not in the mood.
Sometimes I can happily do work like this and speedily. Sometimes I can do labour intensive stuff with a smile on my face. Sometimes I just take one look at a task and go "No. Just no," even though it could be simplest thing ever.
And sometimes I procrastinate until I forget.
You were sitting by a pond or river? Maybe. It was still pretty recent all things considered.
Have you rechaged the battery yet, or did procrastination hit?
I'm not entirely sure. And we could always use a little more variation in our shortcuts.
Probably. I'm also a little dubious as to whether I'll like buttermint tea or not, and given that it's a 'sub-brand' of Twinings it is a little expensive: £2.50 for twenty bags. I'm wavering between getting something I know I'll like, or trying something I might not like and then have spent money for nothing.

Hmm, interesting...
Yeah, I definitely get into the procrastinations swings as well. Except it's usually on or off. And very seldom forgetting, for better or worse...
Don't worry, my charger lies on the floor under the radiator a metre to the left of me, and I always carry my camera in the belt.
As someone who has to deal with the whole brunt of problems caused by a lack of standards on a daily basis, I'll say no, we really don't.
Yeah. I bought a small bag of tea mix for its wonderful scent some days ago, but sadly, scent doesn't translate to flavour, so it'll probably take some time to get to the bottom of it...Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

Re: Peebles' Perfectly Pointless Popular Prattle - Random Banter #211
Going along the Tyne would not be any part of a sensible journey home for me, unless I actually bought the chair somewhere on the quayside, and I don't think they sell chairs there.
Everyone seemed to like it as far as I could tell. I certainly enjoyed it: the take was original and creative, it was well acted and well sung, with an assortment of truly amazing bits. And the bits I didn't like were all short, unless you count my show-wide frustration that the bar had been set so high for future directors since that might include me.
I'm not sure if it was as late as six, though it was probably around six by the time I got to sleep (I distinctly remember lying awake for a while overheating).
Yeah, an hour or so after I made that post and sent a message to the Yeomen directors telling them my favourite bits from the show I went to bed, and got up again a bit before 7pm to have dinner. Then went to bed again around 1am or so and got myself on an entirely sensible sleep pattern. Let's see if I can make it last more than a week.
I've spent a not inconsiderable amount of time figuring out how to pass off playing chess, spending all my time doing Gilbert & Sullivan, and even arranging forum meetups as CV-worthy things. All to do with being organised and working as a team but taking initiative where necessary.
An integral part of CV-writing is to make everything sound more impressive than it actually is."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
