Actually, what I think would be hilarious would be if Peridot kind of sorta disappeared into Stevens's house, turning up occasionally to show that yes she's still there, but then when Steven goes to talk to her she's hiding in a different part of his house each time.

One Episode she's in his closet, another she's under the bed, then she's in the crawl space. That'd be an amusing running gag, I think, at least for a few episodes.

I speculated that the reason Peridot's apparent body was more robotic and she could separate her foot was because it was something external to her projected Gem body and more artificial. On another note, did Peridot's voice have less of its usual grating sound this episode, or was that just me? There was moments, but not many.

That window cannot be opened, and given her primary means of attacking is a well oiled palm to the fact that really hurts feelings more then anything else, she's not getting out.

Assuming she's physically strong enough to do so,which is a big assumption to make considering that her default attack sans prosthesis is to slap people, inflicting no noticeable damage beyond Steven commenting that it hurt, and she was actually surprised that it hurt Steven at all.

Steven is also by far rthe physically weakest of the Crystal Gems and was able to retrain Peridot, so...

Might be locked, and until she got her foot there might not have been anything handy to break it with. Closest thing I can think of in that bathroom would be the plunger, and that's hardly ideal, especially for a gem as apparently weak as she seems to be without her enhancements. (While that slap fight was mostly played for laughs, Peridot was likely giving the best she could, which while strong enough to cause Steven pain, certainly wasn't tossing him around like what we've seen the other Gems are capable of.)

With her foot back she might cut and run eventually, but right now I think she may just be too exhausted, mentally. She doesn't trust the Gems, and doesn't wholly trust Steven, but he's shown her the most kindness she's likely felt all her life (if what we know of homeworld is any indication) so I think she's likely to stick around unless she finds an opportunity to get further than the beach. (Trying to escape in a panic is one thing, but she'll likely want a better plan than trying to run after practically announcing her escape with the sound of broken glass.)

Why would Peridot run? Remember - when she kidnapped Steven, that was her last resort to get to Homeworld. Even if she runs away, she's got nowhere to go but other places on Earth, which are equally terrible in her mind. The only thing running away would do is make her more vulnerable to the Cluster. At least in Steven's house, she has the protection of Earth's three greatest warriors ("and Steven!") as well as proximity to the gems' warp pad.

I'm not so sure about that. She did try to escape through the toilet, so making a run for it was probably an option she was entertaining. Maybe she thought the window was like the barriers from the prison cells on her ship. Silly, I know, but she did feel the need to ask whether a toothbrush or a towel was a weapon.

Yeah, she really has absolutely no frame of reference for human stuff. The house is just as alien to her as the hand-ship was to Steven. Full of strange, possibly dangerous things, crawling with enemies... Plus, I don't think she could have made it to the window. Garnet or Pearl could have easily intercepted if she tried to make a break for it, especially since she's out of limb enhancers, she's slower and more awkward than normal.

I found steven universe two weeks ago, and It took me a little under a week to get caught up on all the released episodes. At first I was a little sceptical due to the goofy nature of the first part of season one. But I have been continually baffled at how well the show portrays emotions and relations.

The newest episode really worked for me.

I like Peridot a lot, and seeing her in a situation where she is not in control... melted my heart a little. She always tries to keep this surperior, composed front, but under the surface she is just as fragile and human as the gems we already know. I loved how her fear made her take stupid risks (kidnapping Steven), and make compromises (Talking to steven.

I think I will enjoy seeing her play the reluctant ally for the duration of the Cluster-Arc (If no one else coined that, I call dibs on it ).

I kind of want to see an episode about Steven and Connie, and it has a seen of them talking, sitting at Seven's kitchen or on his couch or something, then Peridot comes out of Steven's bathroom to do something, does something, and goes back into the bathroom.

Connie: So... She just lives in there?
Steven: Yep!

And then it's never mentioned again. Has nothing to do with the plot, it just happens.

I want to see her just meet people, her only interaction with the inhabitants of Earth thusfar have been the Gems and Steven, I want Peridot/human interaction and I mostly don't care who that human is.

I always thought Jasper was going to be the one to change sides, but maybe I was wrong. Then again, maybe they both will, only for Peridot to rejoin Homeworld if ever they come knocking, y'know, being that she just seems the type to latch onto the next strongest host whenever one comes along. Just an idea.

Personally, I'm hoping that Steven will get through to Peridot and she'll end up sticking around, if only because a head canon of mine is that Steven is eventually going to do what Rose did and attract other Gems to himself as loyal friends, but he'll do it in a different way.

Lapis is a pretty good shoe in for Steven's Pearl, and Peridot is both short and immature so she could be his Amythest.

That just leaves the Garnet slot open. If Jasper turns, she could fill it, but awkwardness.

I'm not saying he'd be stuck to just analogues for the Crystal Gems, but still.

(I'm actually imagining a hypothetical scenario where an actual formal ranking system is instituted, and Jaspar turns but is disapointed to be so low down on the totem pole)

Kid's been fighting stuff for over a year now, and apparently is now consistently being trained by Pearl to fight alongside Connie if Sworn to the Sword is to be believed. It's only natural that he's losing some baby fat.

Though that incidentally may also have something to do with art evolution. Steven's been getting involved in fight scenes more often as the series goes on, and the more that happens the more the animators need to work with his body. A more chubby steven might not necessarily work as well for some of the stuff they need him to do, so he incidentally drops a few pounds.

Now we just have to wait till the series finale when he's crushing Yellow Diamond in a headlock with his huge biceps and perfect six pack abs.

I dunno that it's a good idea to draw broad conclusions about the art's evolution or Steven's evolution from one episode. Different episodes tend to be done by different artists, so you get a good amount of variation in how a character is depicted between episodes. Not to say that this definitely isn't a deliberate choice, because it may be, but Steven could easily be of a different form by the next episode.

I have a Question about Malachite. It seems, that Lapis only consented to the fusion to trap Jasper. But Jasper was already defeated once by Garnet(although with some difficulty) and now she was there together with Garnet and the other Crystal Gems and it didn't seem like Jasper could have done much else, since she was desperate enough to fuse. So why make this horrible sacrifice, when she could have just fight with the other Gems against Jasper. I've two explanations, that aren't totally satisfactory for me.

One:

Lapis has only seen the fight between Jasper and the Crystal Gems, where she could overwhelm them, because they weren't prepared for her Technology and thought, that she had to do this, to stop Jasper. But she could have seen Jaspers desperation to fuse and concluded from that, that Jasper was losing. Okay, I could understand, that she couldn't done that in the heat of the situation, but it would be a pity, if Lapis made a pointless sacrifice, because she misinterpreted the situation.

Two:

Lapis hasn't planned to trap Jasper until they already formed Malachite and she consented honestly to forming a fusion, that would kill the crystal gems. That doesn't seem that unlikely.
