For some reason, my immediate response to today's strip was "Run away!"

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
I don't think Snuffle's taking the "become human" route, I think she's actually going to the Court in her current form as some sort of Ambassador. Which is odd. O_o

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
I'm worried she'll meet a bloody end in the hands of paranoid supremicist Gunner-humans. Possibly starting a war.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
Nice little call-back to Annie in the Forest with Annie refusing that drink in the fourth panel.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
SpoilerHmm not necessarily unwise but obviously unneeded considering how freely they let the Mediums come and go, unless they can detect any dangerous diseases with the tracking microbes in the food. I do like seeing these powerplays between the Principle and Coyote though, makes it obvious Annie is part of a game she only has the barest idea is being played.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
I wonder if there is actual reasons behind the decontamination procedure?

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
Considering how super excited they seem to be about putting the fairy's headwear into a decontamination jar, that seems likely.
Man this thing was full of outdated stuff.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
We have a title for the next thread!
Gunnerkrigg Court: Kinda Crummy.
This presentation should be interesting. And Parley's back? No wonder Smitty was late to the meeting.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
Well, if the Court is concerned that Ysengrin is trying to smuggle more seeds into the Court...
Although I don't understand why they haven't treated Annie the same. Maybe they are, but more covertly. If they can track students by nanotracers in the food, they might have scanners that could detect if Annie (Or Smitty, or Parley, or anyone from the Court who visits the Forest and returns) is carrying more than they should be. And intervene if they are. With (Snuffle), she being a life form they're not familiar with, maybe they had to do it manually...

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
It's probably just a matter of the Court's stupid bigotry. Snuffles is a forest creature, so she's being treated differently than a human would be treated. They probably just wouldn't dare do it with Ysengrin and Coyote, but they aren't worrying about what she thinks.
I don't think the hazmat suits would fit any robot we've seen very well. Judging by their shape, I think there were humans inside.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
Right. I had already said:
Later, Eee asked why Snuffles was checked and anything natural removed from her, but the same didn't happen with Annie. That was what I was answering in my second response.
We never saw Annie checked the way Snuffles was checked. Annie even brought back things from the forest that apparently originated there. One would have thought that the same level of paranoia might have applied to what Annie brought back. I suspect that Annie wasn't checked because she was human.Last edited by eschmenk; 2016-04-30 at 03:05 PM.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
Some Forest stuff does seem to need decontamination, and the reverse is also true. The tree arm that Ysengrin gave to robot needed decontamination so it wouldn't take over anything else, Ysengrin also tried to plant seeds in the meeting hall, and the mechanical bird started laying down "roots" when it was buried on the Forest side.
The battle between nature and science appears to be physical, at least in the area around the Court. Hence the Divide.
All that said, it was pretty douchey of those decontamination guys. I'm definitely thinking "show of power" is at play here, and just goes to show the continually deteriorating relationship between the Court and the Forest.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 6: Fire Away
I dunno about you, but thinking two people are such good friends for going after each other like this seems somewhat irrational by human standards. Yelling at someone to go away then come back isn't also a highlight of sanity.
