The farmer pleads with his local Architect that something be done!

    [99-100] The ‘Immortal Le Duksae Majalis’ of Fantastigoria, overeager in his desire to explore the world, arrives in the Southern Courtlands of Tir Amser where he no doubt would have been killed by the Summer Aeldir had it not been for the visiting Lady Autumn. Amused by the man’s jovial countenance the masked man was taken to the Autumnal Courtlands. In the summer of Year 100 letters of invitation were sent out to all nations seen and suspected by the Aeldir Courts and Fantastigoria to the Fantastic Masquerade to be held in the Autumnal Courtlands in the Autumn months of Year 101.

    [100] In Xeroas people are claiming a Green Zaj has fled south with a small cult of followers and is practicing ancient rites to grant him sorcerous abilities!

    [101] In Primus, Melani Aske convicted of murdering her wife challenges her judge and executioner Lady Alis Perle for her noble title. Aske is victorious, sparing Perle and locking her away until the Queen can confirm her honorable victory and rightful title as Lady of the Realm.

    Kellianth Beagan was - as a point of incontestable fact - adorable. Though the Aeldir had nothing like a dictionary, Kellianth was surely the picture of the word ‘adorable’. And also ‘cute’, ‘darling’, and ‘sweet’. This was a good thing, for, had Kellianth known what a dictionary was, she would have accepted no less than four words with her picture next to them. She would have demanded more, if any of the other Aeldir Court leaders had four pictures or more on them, but that was just a facet of nature, and not due to any greed or envy on her part; when you are so fantastically warm and cuddly that you put bunnies to shame, how could you possibly have greed or envy?

    Other people were supposed to covet you, not the other way around. After all, Kellianth Beagan was not just adorable, she was the most adorable of all of the Spring Court Aeldir, which made her the most adorable Aeldir in all of Tir Amser. Her ‘auntie’ Cynel, Lady Autumn, may be the most beautiful, her ‘cousin’ Drustan – Lord Summer - may be the most strong, and her ‘grandpop’ Balor of the Winter Court may be the most wise – when Kellianth didn’t feel like being any of these things, she was willing to admit that her counterparts had their merits – but she was the most adorable, cutest, cuddliest, sweetest, precious, perfect princess. True, she wasn’t called a princess, formally. Kellianth was just ‘Lady Spring’, a title of which she felt was appropriate.

    She had other titles. Her Royal Butterflyness. Maiden of the East. Cutest of the Cute (well deserved, that one). Matriarch of the New. Kellianth had heard a distasteful rumor that some disreputable and terrible meanies also called her ‘The Little Terror’, which was simply hurtful. She wasn’t that little! Sure, she was smaller than other Aeldir, but that’s only because she was the embodiment of all young Aeldir.

    Aeldir life cycle was… a curiosity. Kellianth thought about it quite a bit. Every time she had to take a Nap, which was different than just sleeping for the night. Mostly, when Kellianth was considering the life cycle, it was due to the unfairness of her having to take Naps. Aunty Cynel, Cousin Drustan, and Granpop Balor didn’t need Naps. Kellianth, though, did. Once every twenty years or so, Lady Spring had to travel around Tir Amser, gathering strength from Summer, peace from Autumn, and wisdom from Winter.

    If Kellianth didn’t take a Nap, she’d get very sluggish and tired and stop being so composed and cute. She couldn’t bear the thought of it, so was quite pleased that she’d just finished her latest Nap and was feeling super fantastic again! It had been so easy, this time, thanks to the Pledge. No longer would she have to sneak through the other courts. She had made it a procession, a formal visit; everyone else knew it was for her Nap, but they were ever so polite and even Cousin Drustan didn’t so much as snarl at her, which was impressive. He really was trying to make the Pledge work, which was truly promising.

    And it was soooo much more fun to spy on them in front of their faces. Kellianth had quite enjoyed it. Their courts had so many hidey holes that they didn’t know about, and the Spring Court had been… making sure that no outsiders knew about them, by checking them frequently.

    It was a game, really. To the Spring Court, it was the game. Like hide and seek. Except the rules were that no one was seeking you, and if someone was, you lost the game. Lady Spring’s girls talked about their favorite hiding places in Tir Amser all the time in the privacy of Glaw Novo – the Spring Courtlands – and Kellianth knew where all the bestest best spots were.

    Twenty years ago, she’d had to. The struggle between the Courts for the Rose Throne was a messy, icky thing. Kellianth had desperately needed a Nap, though. She knew it, and the other Courts knew it. They had been waiting for it, in fact. It was an adventure and a half to go around to all of the Courts, and she’d nearly been caught several times. Wise old Grandpop Balor had been the closest in trapping her, but she was ever so clever herself, and she’d smiled her cutest cute smile at him – to show there were no hard feelings – as she made her escape.

    That whole senseless violence was over with, though. Never again would Aeldir fight Aeldir. Never again would those who didn’t play the game well enough, and were caught in someone else’s Courtlands, find themselves slain. True ‘the game’ was supposed to stop, but the Spring Court were the best players at it. And it wasn’t like they were there to find out the secrets of the Aeldir – they knew most of those already anyways – but after so many years of doing something, and staying alive by knowing things rather than fighting, Kellianth didn’t have it in her heart to tell her girls to stop completely.

    And really, it was following the Pledge. The Spring Court was protecting the other courts, not spying on them. It was ‘the game’, but with Glaw Novo rules, just spread to all of Tir Amser. Glaw Novo rules were less about finding hiding places for yourself, but finding hiding places to make sure no one else was in them. Some of the other Courts, during the struggle for the Rose Throne, had tried to find out what Kellianth knew or didn’t know, but she already knew what they thought they knew, so she always made them think she knew more or less what they didn’t know so that what they thought they knew wasn’t actually what they really knew. It had been great fun! Glaw Novo always was aware of other Courts trying to play ‘the game’ like the Spring Court, but Spring Aeldir were the best. Even silly boys of the Spring Court could spot someone trying to spy on Kellianth or one of her girls.

    You paid them no mind, and just reported it to a superior when the time was right. During the whole Rose Throne conflict, the spy would find themselves with misinformation if they were lucky… and if they weren’t, well, Kellianth would send her regrets to the appropriate Court. She never liked doing that, so was ever so pleased that the whole affair was over and done with.

    And now the conflict was over! The Pledge was made! All of Tir Amser was in agreement; Tir Amser belonged to the Aeldir… all of them. And the rest of the world was now open to explore! There was so much off the island that Kellianth was looking forward to hearing about, and so were the rest of her girls. Of course, they’d send boys first, in case it was dangerous. But once the way was clear, there were so many spots that they could play the game in. So many new people to play it against!

    Kellianth had heard rumors that there was even a whole race of non-Aeldir things – lesser creatures, she was told, but Kellianth couldn’t be so sure yet – that wore masks. All the time! Imagine how funny that was! And there were other rumors too. Cat things that were as big as bears and walked on two legs. Ugly creatures too, though Kellianth hoped to avoid those. Things that look like Aeldir, but were not. They had round ears. They aged too quickly, died easily, and it seemed that many thought that boys were better than girls. Lady Spring was looking forward to proving those lesser creatures (anyone who thought that way must be a lesser being) wrong. Boys had their uses, but they were icky, constantly dirty, and other than as guards, didn’t really belong inside Glaw Novo.

    Still… so many new things to see! To do! And no more nasty wars against Cousin Drustan, Auntie Cynel, or Grandpop Balor. Oh, what fun Kellianth would have!

    • (News) Kellianth Beagen has ordered a custom made mask for the Masquerade Ball from Fantastagoria. The rumor is that the Maestro himself will be carving it for Lady Spring.
    • (News) So many girls are excited to be out and traveling the world. Besides the explorers, there are Spring Court girls sponsored in Primus, Skiana, Fantastigoria, and Hortis. Gesh and Luska are also considering hosting a girl from the Spring Court for cultural exchange. This makes Lady Spring quite pleased!
    • (Rumor) Aluxa, one of the girls quite close to Kellianth Beagen, is still dismayed at the horrible situation that the man from Hess Tannan put her through at the Masquerade. She does her duty to the Court, but she is no longer interested in traveling abroad. Lady Spring is rather upset about the whole affair, and is morally outraged at what one of her girls has had to go through in the course of their duty.

    -Prince Aelius Primus is born on October 8th of year 100 to Princess Tusameia. He is currently 11th in the line to the throne.

    -Lady Aske is granted the noble title she desires and cleared of all charges, as is custom to an honor duel, and High Queen Roethye has even granted her several extra servants and the modest estate of her accuser. However, it is rumored that Princess Tusameia Primus has maneuvered to keep her from ever wedding a woman again, and further rumors that Roethye is planning on challenging her honor at the slightest offense.

    -Many in Primus spread gossip over who Marcus Primus will be betrothed to. He is the oldest of the current princes, and is considered to be quite handsome. However, none have received offers from High Queen Roethye, Marcus has expressed no interest himself, and none are foolish enough to demand a decision.

    The relatively short periods she got to spend with her young family were some of the few times Aiman got close to relaxation these days. Isfandir was building a fort from blocks, while Hannah was assembling some sort of mosaic. Nevertheless the work of a queen was never done, and her mind was still occupied with the missives she had previously received.

    We will surely have to decline the Prevaz invitation,” she said, thinking out loud. “The Aeldir, on the other hand, might be possible. But what is the obsession that foreigners have with covering themselves? Masks...” She shuddered at the thought of shutting her face away from the sun.

    Are there no Beranda you could send?” Kusal asked.

    I would prefer not. These are not merchants or petty chiefs, these are kings and queens of our stature and will expect me to attend in person. I think it better not to insult them by sending some disreputable rogue to treat with them.

    Isfandir seemed to have finished his castle and was now populating it with a garrison. The walls filled up with spearmen and archers, while the karapan was reserved for last.

    The question, I suppose, is whether it would be better to have a representative there at all, no matter what their standing, than lose this opportunity to establish diplomatic relations.

    Exactly. And I cannot send any of the setrapa, at least not alone. Imagine what they would do with the power of a direct alliance with the Aeldir.

    She saw what was about to happen a moment before it did, but too late to do anything about it. Just as the karapan took his proud place atop the gatehouse, Hannah flicked a tile at him with pinpoint accuracy. There was a sad “plunk” and the general went flying.

    Isfandir was on his feet immediately, fists balled, face flushing and outrage and desire for retribution writ large on his face. Jangir, looking on from his chair, clapped and laughed. Before further disaster could ensue, Kusal had intervened, rushing over and kneeling down next to the compromised fort.

    Oh dear, what's happened here?” He picked up the figure and set him aright. “Just a flesh wound, fortunately. No harm done.” Isfandir was still on the verge of tears, and Kusal tugged at his arm to point out the spot where he'd been standing.

    If he stands out in the open like that, people are going to shoot at him, and the best archers can hit a target from some distance away.” He gestured in a couple of directions. “When putting together a fort sight-lines are important, so that your people are protected. Here, I'll show you.

    He began demonstrating to Isfandir how to rebuild the top of the gatehouse as to provide better protection from further missiles, and glanced up at Aiman with a wink. She favoured him with a grateful smile, and upon seeing that Hannah, having escaped scot-free from her first transgression, was shaping up to repeat the entertainment, scooped up her daughter before things could escalate and pulled her into her lap.

    What are you going to do about the Aeldir?” he asked eventually, once Isfandir seemed sufficiently calm and engrossed in his fort again.

    We can't both go,” she said with a sigh. “Isfandir's too young to stay here alone, and there's nobody eligible I'd trust as regent but you. I'll go alone, and take Bassus.

    That old bastard?

    If he stays and I go, I wouldn't put it past him to try something against you. He's never forgiven either of us for the marriage.

    I can see why his feelings were hurt, even if I'm glad you decided against him.

    You didn't see the way he suggested it.” She made a face. “It wasn't so much a suggestion as a demand. He did all but wave it in my face and tell me I should be grateful for the privilege. Besides, he was old enough to be my father.

    At least I don't have to worry about any funny business with him while you're away, then.

    She handed Hannah a fresh bunch of tiles. “Go on, see if you can hit him.

    Even Isfandir laughed this time as Kusal feigned retreat under the fresh barrage.

    Maldarr Drivas stood with his uncle on the edge of the Speedway. The dust kicked up by the racing simurgh's furiously beating wings merged with the smoke from the spectator's cigarettes, creating a hazy filter across his vision. His body was tense as the animals made the last turn and barreled down the last straightway, he glanced at Aleksy who was grinning around the thin cigarette he held clamped between his teeth. He turned back to the race, the simurgh they had bet on was firmly in second place, it was painfully obvious to Maldarr that time had run out for him to catch the leader, his heart rate soared with adrenaline as he anticipated losing his life's savings, including the extra borrowed from some seedy friends of his uncle's.

    The older man must have sensed his distress as he held up a finger, silently imploring Maldarr to be patient. The grin never left his face as he he motioned his nephew's attention back to the Speedway track. Maldarr turned just in time to see the lead Simurgh collapse suddenly, falling onto the dirt track with a heavy thud in a cloud of thick dust. It's jockey climbed off the beast and tried to rouse it to no avail as the former second flew past him at breakneck speed to claim the win. Maldarr was shocked into stunned silence. They were both suddenly very wealthy men. Aleksy pounded the younger man on the back gleefully,
    "What'd I tell you, boy? To trust your uncle, that's what." The young man looked at his uncle with new appreciation, before this he'd often thought he would never trust the swarthy man if he wasn't clan. While he had his attention, Maldarr decided to bring something up that had been eating at him awhile,
    "Uncle, I would like to ask your permission to..."
    "No." Maldarr started as his uncle interrupted him,
    "But you don't know" he spat out as his uncle gazed at him in amusement,
    "I do know, and the answer is no. You don't think I haven't noticed how you two look at each other?" He grinned his shark tooth grin as Maldarr's face reddened, Aleksy said in a gentler voice,

    Maldarr walked slowly towards the betting windows, his uncle's words ringing hollowly in his ears. The burning ache in his chest threatening to engulf him as Belinda spotted him coming towards and gifted him with a smile. The curve of her upturned lips wrinkling the skin of her nose that was dotted with a spray of freckles. He took in her every feature as it was his last chance before she belonged to another man. Belinda worked in the betting booths, which were often staffed with pretty girls to lure the men over to be coaxed into making bets, often more than they would have bet otherwise. She was dressed in a costume made from the shed feathers of the simurghs, a much brighter blue than her sparkling, pale eyes.

She would be wed then, any thought of defying the order was left unspoken between them. Maldarr took her hand through the bars and kissed it gently.
    "Goodbye then Belinda." He knew he would see her often, but never again in this way. She would be Belinda Asker, a tool to be wielded by her ambitious father. An empty pit dropped into his stomach as he walked away from her, she would always be trapped in the cage her father created for her.

    In an attempt to find other civilizations king Alvin has sent explorers in all directions. He himself led a party to the emerald floored country of Xeroas where he established good relations with Hilden the Amal Zaj leader. Alvin then proceeded to offer trade with the Amal Zaj further strengthening their relationships. A military academy has been started so that when the other explorers return the lignummese may better defend themselves from opposing neighbors.

    • Humans on the far side of Blackspire Pass tell tales of the Wandering Clans building a city on the far side of the mountains. Hope is strong that the mines of this great city may be the answer to the lack of regional metal.
    • With the increased activity around central points of worship the leadership of Conlarbores has dispatched several members of the ruling Tufted Ears to act as the voice of the king. For the most part these nobles seem to focus of establishing peace between the religion folk and the locals as well as making sure peace and justice continue despite the influx of travelers.
    • The king is to be wed! The eldest daughter of his great aunt’s third son has matured to a fine lady and is said to be one of the most beautiful ladies of the land. The wedding is scheduled for the spring of 103.
    • Rumor of another sizable city to the southeast have prompted the king to send scouts, sightings along the border tell of another breed of Nitent’oculis

    In the northern part of Conlarbores is wide valley known for its abundant game, the trees here grow tall but with sparse foliage and the grassy forest floor feeds many herds of deer and elk. The locals called it the sunlit woods, the nobles called it the summer hunting grounds, and the elders called it the shrouded forest. Every morning the woods fills with a dense mist that rolls down the mountain sides and hides the grazing game before the abundant beams of sunlight burn away the fog and hunters issue forth from local villages to gather food for their families.

    It was on one such morning just after the day had burned away the last of the ground clouds that a young Plain One set forth with bow in hand. During his hunt he found a majestic deer with antlers that towered like frosted ice spikes above the small trees and shrubs and was larger then the shaggy cows wandering the hills. He swore to all that would listen at the tavern that night his arrows had been true and the beast had bolted unhindered by a killing blow. Most took him for a touched fool or a man so deep in sorrow from a poor hunt that he had meet the cup hard that night.

    As the days turned into weeks more and more hunters spotted the beast and the local shaman declared the animal an avatar of Elacervus, high spirit over prey. The deer was here to test the hunters and see if they were truly worthy of the hunt. Whether true or not the news spread and soon other shamans came to the area looking to spot him and pass their own judgment on what was hiding in the woods. Along with the religious shamans more hunters came to test their skill against the mythical game inhabiting the area which is now called more and more often Elacervus’ Run.

    Redwoods have long been the center of faith for the Ceratogaulus druids they believe them to be the aspects of the great mother tree, Arborealis, which once grew on top of the world. Few of these giants grow in the lands of Conlarbores and they are all well documented by the faithful. In the south there was a fire started by a storm of light and sound. One of the great mother’s trees fell to the mighty storm and the local druids mourned its loss.

    After ceremonially burying a seed from the great tree in the burned out grove the druids departed to travel and pray at the nearest brother to their lost aspect. Two weeks later they returned home from their pilgrimage and found a mighty tree sprouting from the seed. The soot choked ground around the great redwood was riddled with tendrils of life and flowers bloomed in the snaking lines of grass adding color to the gray of death.

    Tending to the grove they were stuck between awe and alarm at the speed with which the tree grew and soon sent for an arch-druid. After studying the tree for a month the arch-druid declared the tree to be an avatar of the great mother tree which had blessed the entire area with new stronger life. Soon many druids made pilgrimages to the Arborealis’ Grove to see this wonder of life given to them by the great mother tree.

    One of the young lord's advisors stood next to him, grey-haired Kur of the Dradhid noble family.
    "Beyond the bounds of your lands, we expect only barbarians and animals. Possibly both. Unlike the civilised folk to our north and south, those westerners have no kings, no lords above a chieftain. Or so it is said, my lord."
    "The scouts will return shortly, Lord Drahid. Then we'll know. I can only hope that they have wells in the west. We lost more to water riots than old age last month."

    • Inquisitors: Due to the recent drama involving the 'cult of Avlen', some of the population have taken on the roll of actively denouncing the religion. This would work well for the government, except they are doing so to all religions that are not their own rather than only that one.
    • The Temple of Earth: A large project has been started to create 'the temple of earth'. This temple will be made purely of emerald, and used for the worship of religion and ceremonies. It is located just over the lake in the center of Xeroas, and will use support pillars underwater to support it's weight. It has been talked up to look 'magnificent'.
    • The 'Cult of Avlen': The group of Zaj to the south has caused a lot of conflict in the way religion should be regarded or at what point it might be accepted. The general public is outraged, with the introduction of self-employed inquisitors and the spark of religious debates. The government has decided they need more information before making a decision, and as such they are researching this 'cult' and it's history.
    • General News: A group of explorers from the south had wandered into the territory of the Dynasty. They were met with a few confused residents before a formal declaration from the king, who treated them kindly and fairly; hoping to establish a peace treaty with them. He provided them with a small amount of emeralds to take home, as well as the promise to fulfill their request of a trade route within the near future. The populace feels uneasy about this, but find it a minor event compared to the larger 'cult' drama going on.

    The Coronation Celebration at the Meel Dhagax Weyn

    The Meel Dhagax Weyn, the ‘Great Stone Place’, is believed by the Dhulciran to be the most important place in the world. According to the oldest story, “The Land, the Sky, and the Tree”, it was here that the Dhulciran became the Dhulciran, the ‘People of Land and Sky’, through an ancient bargain with both. Since then, it is said by them, they have held all their most important rites and rituals, and today it hosted the coronation celebration of Ganbaatar, the new boqorka of the Shafar, and ruler of Shafarstan.

    As with everything created by the Dhulciran, there was little permenance. Three days ago, the day of the coronation, a tent city of mirth and celebration had simply blossomed into being over the course of the day. Even now, after the coronation itself is finished, new tents rise as latecomers make their appearance. The seed of this tent city is the tents of the Shafar, raised up above all others by a two foot high platform of stone. It was there that the coronation itself was held, and it is there that the new boqorka sat with the leaders of the Kibirka, the Hnaasin, the Damac, the Cadho, and the Kacsi — the five clans that had, before Ganbaatar’s father, Otgonbayar, conquered them, ruled their own kingdoms and crowned their own boqorka.

    The relationship between the leaders of the six greatest clans of the lands surrounding the Meel Dhagax Weyn was still new, however, and nobody was entirely sure how to act around the others. Technically, the Shafar ruled them, and so by tradition they were in the same position as any other leader of any other subordinate clan. They still had clans subordinate to them, though, and so in many ways they acted as a kind of ‘lesser’ boqorka.

    The first to break the uncomfortable silence was Enebish, a young ruler like Ganbaatar who had come to inherit the leadership of the Damac. Her mother had allied her clan with the Shafar early, claiming greater wisdom in her advanced age, and the Damac had been rewarded greatly in return. Enebish had continued her mother’s policy, and was a good friend to Ganbaatar. “We are two days into the celebration, and we have only five more before it ends. Five days have never seemed so short.”

    “They have never seemed longer to me,” answered Asugbal, leader of the Kibirka. They had been the last to surrender to the Shafar, and even then they had couched their surrender in other terms. Despite this, though, they were treated well by Ganbaatar’s father due to his admiration of how quickly they adapted to open warfare. Asugbal was also the only one there who seemed to not be having fun.

    Oyuun, leader of the Cadho, half-heartedly threw a lump of greasy mutton in Asugbal’s direction. They had been the most enthusiastic adopters of open warfare, and they had fought hard against the Shafar, but in the end their enthusiasm was their downfall. “He’s a dour bastard, but I can’t help but agree with him. The music is soothing, the food fattening, and the drink inebriating, but it’s all too damn tame! There should be contests! A tartanka with two teams of a thousand riders every day at least!”

    “There’s injuries enough when there’s only two-hundred riders,” chided Dei, leader of the Hnaasin. They had allied with the Shafar, but only after a series of confusing battles in which nothing had really been accomlished. This note of confusion had continued even after, and today relations between the Hnaasin and the Shafar were very muddied. “Two-thousand riders? I can’t even begin to guess how many would be hurt.”

    Oyuun shrugged a shoulder in response. “If they aren’t capable of staying on their horse they shouldn’t participate,” she said.

    “I think it’s a great idea,” piped up Bala, leader of the Kacsi. They had fought hard like the Kibirka, but they hadn’t the will or the genius to adapt to open warfare, and so after several disasterous battles they surrendered. After, though, they were willing subjects, aiding the Shafar alongside the Damac early. “It would be better than holding ten tartankas a day, and far more exciting.”

    “Tradition dictates that it’s only a hundred riders on each time,” said Ganbaatar at last.

    “Like your father ever cared about tradition,” grumbled Oyuun.

    Ganbaatar glared at Oyuun. “My father did what he thought was right, and I will do what I think is right,” he snapped. “The tartanka is an important-”

    “You don’t need to say it again,” interupted Asugbal. “We heard it just fine the first time when you made your big speech. You think the tartanka is important and that we shouldn’t abandon or alter it. I think Oyuun’s idea has merit, though, and Bala is right... it would be much more exicitng.”

    Ganbaatar let out a long sigh as Dei spoke up in defence of keeping the tartanka as traditional as possible with Enebish supporting. Oyuun didn’t contribute much more to the case Bala and Asugbal were making than more excited suggestions for bigger and more exciting contests and events. The day continued like that — the new boqorka and the leaders of the five most powerful clans eating, talking, and drinking while singers and musicians sang and played — as did the remaining five days of the celebration. Eventually, on the fifth day of the celebration, it was decided that a new kind of tartanka with seven-hundred riders per team could be played on special occasions — a hundred riders from each of the major clans, and a hundred riders from the rest.

    With the rise of a new boqorka, a new dawn rises on the Dhulciran kingdom of the Shafar. Seeking to further consolidate his clan's power the new boqorka oversees the creation of a 'Royal Army' comprised of the greatest riders from each of the clans. The boqorka entices the riders of the clans by using good service in his 'Royal Army' as a justification for rewards for the rider and the rider's clan. At first only riders from the boqorka's allies respond, but with the promise of reward many minor clans send their best too. As a result of the growing response, the major clans begin to begrudgingly send riders of their own. Soon the first thousand riders are assembled, and even the smallest clan has at least one rider in their midst.

    [100] After nearly thirty years since Ganbataar's father, Otgonbayar, became boqorka of the Shafar — and nearly a decade and a half since Otgonbayar unified the Dhulciran of Shafarstan — the son has risen to rule the people his father united. The coronation is held during a week long celebration at the Meel Dhagax Weyn.

    [100-101] The young riders of the Dhulciran, as they always have, venture forth as raiders. These roving bands, however, do not stay within the lands of the united Dhulciran. 'Encouraged' by the former boqorka, and now strenously encouraged by the new boqorka, the young riders venture further afield, and many such parties of young riders find themselves causing mayham as far away as Kherson.

    [101, Winter] The winter winds descend on the Dhulciran with unusual ferocity this year! Some claim that the new boqorka has upset the wind, and that it now takes out its fury on all the Dhulciran.

    [101, Winter] Some claim that the wind is angry at the Shafar clan for breaking the tradition of the tartanka with their conquest, and while this theory is hurt by the delayed reaction it nevertheless proves popular among the dissatisfied.
