Default The Brick Awards: the Best of the Worst tournament (#191-#230)

About 2 years ago, a great forumite named Porthos created an OOTS voting contest (based on a much shorter lived, but equally fantastic, previous version) which had forum goers vote on the best OOTS strips of all time. It was an impressive contest which has gone on for over 2 years (and only ended, or went on hiatus, due to running out of strips) and will undoubtedly be remembered in this forum as one of the most well-run ongoing threads on here.

This is not that contest. This is a shameless mockery of that contest.

Welcome to The Brick Awards, the best of the worst tournament!

The Stick Awards were handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders. However, when voting for the Stick awards, some strips felt left out, abused, unloved. Whether they simply were a weak strip, or a decent strip surrounded by amazing strips, for whatever reason some strips just didn't get any votes.

So this contest is designed to give those strips the morale boost they need and deserve! I am collecting all the strips which received zero votes in the Stick awards and presenting them in groups of ten (Or, at least close to ten, since I don't want to cut off in the middle of a group of strips). We will then vote as to which is our favorite of the worst strips so we can finally decide which the best worst strip is!

(And let's be honest, even the worst OOTS strips are still pretty good and deserve our appreciation!)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten eight listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on Friday, December 4 at 10AM (MT). (I'm extending it for the holidays). Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, we learned that even comics about teenage dragons exploring their sexuality will get their time to shine, eventually.
#188 A Matter of Perspective was our winner.

I think 210 is probably the best of this lot. Definitely weaker than the last group, though; it's easier to see why they didn't get any votes before.

Check this game out! Or at least give it a thumbs up.

Aye, not exactly the best of the bunch here, although there's a couple that are deserving of some well-overdue love. 210 and 211 are pretty funny in their own way, but the sheer absurdity of somebody being a class for several years despite it being fundamentally impossible to use in the world that they used it in makes 229 speak to me. (I mean, eventually they GET a shadow to use but it doesn't really cheapen the joke in my opinion)

It is a fairly bland lot.

I guess I'll go for 211 for Belkar being Belkar, especially with the benign, happy smile in the second to last frame after what went before it. Mildly amusing, anyway.

A rather bland bunch, as it's been already said.

Nonetheless, I rather like 210 (we're a random encounter!!), 224 (one order of gluttony with one side of corruption, please) and my pick, which is #204 (Bone her)

224: Groggy, groggy, groggy. It kinda shows exactly how jerkish Miko is, and also because of how the order reacts to her shenanigans. (And of course the "no sleeping rules" justification.)

I know it has zero chance of winning this, but I like 194 due to its poke at a number of D&D things, from playing an evil character (with a much slimmer roster of good aligned foes), to Redcloak's confirming statement that they DO get XP for defeating the archons.

Plus, MITD demanding to be lit up is a pretty good bit here.

#229 because the shadowdancer and the dwarf were fun minor characters.

Not a great bunch (which of course is no criticism of the writer -- it's just that these are mostly fillers necessary to advance the plot). #229 because it has a genuinely good joke.

Mmmh... 211. I especially like the driven look in Belkar's eyes while he formulates a plan he doesn't realize is so completely out of line with everyone's expectations.

210, 224 and 229 are not all that bad, but among them I'll eschew the rule-lawyering of 210 and 229 for 224 and Miko's absurd suggestions (and also because it rings a bell - on mountain hikes my father preferred to pass by restaurants and huts in favour of packed lunch and water from a creek).
