Re: Wrath of the Righteous IC [3.5, Group B]
You descend into a semicircular room with a few bookshelves against the walls and a single desk and chair in one corner. A huge set of wood and metal double doors stands in the south wall. A group of (1d4+2)[3] red-skinned male tieflings holding morningstars stand in a cluster in the middle of the room, watching the staircase, with the human who retreated next to him. As they come into Jemus' view, the human lunges at Jemus and the tieflings begin cast a spell.
Spoiler: Spellcraft 11It's Sleep.
SpoilerAttack: (1d20+5)[22] Critical threat check: (1d20+5)[13] Damage: (1d10+3)[7] Critical damage: (2d10+6)[22]
After that Jemus needs to make a Will save, DC 15, or collapse to the floor asleep.
Map updated. Jemus (if applicable), Tellos, Trawyn, Alamryn, and Semult are up. All of you are on the stairs, but you can move through spaces each other occupy freely, so you can reach the adversaries. I'm marking apparent hostiles in red from now on.Last edited by Kish; 2018-08-09 at 10:52 PM.

As Jemus steps past the human cultist, the cultist slashes at his back. Semult's acid splash and Jemus' sword strike both miss the tieflings, who finish their spell. The cultist slashes at Jemus again, and the tieflings step back and throw tiny tarts at Tellos, casting another spell. "We're outnumbered!" the cultist announces in tones of alarm. Semult knew his remaining magics were limited and there was still whatever there was beyond the next door, but the tiefling was throwing more powerful spells than he had. Trawyn cuts down the tiefling. Semult and his dog badly wound the human cultist, then Alamryn steps up and breaks half the bones in his body with mighty blows of her enchanted quarterstaff. Tellos and Jemus regain consciousness and/or control of themselves less than a minute later.
Spoiler510 XP each. Both the human cultists have masterwork glaives, masterwork chain shirts, daggers, spell component pouches, unholy symbols of Baphomet just in case you thought there was a chance this was all a wacky misunderstanding, two scrolls (each, for a total of four), two flasks of liquid (each, for a total of four), and ten gold pieces (total of 20). The tiefling has a morningstar, a heavy crossbow, 12 masterwork or magic crossbow bolts, bracers which are well-made enough to probably be magic, a cloak which likewise looks likely to be magic, two keys, a wand, and 29 gold pieces.Orth Plays: Currently Baldur's Gate II

Trawyn
As the cultists are defeated, the bard immediately turns to check on both of his down companions. Relieved to discover that they were only momentarily disabled, he'll help those not to proud to accept a hand to their feet. Moving among the fallen enemies he begins to gather those things that seem of value....assets for the party.
Glancing up at the others, "If you could quietly check that door and make sure we're not...interrupted, for a minute or two we can get this taken care of. Maybe someone could stand watch at the top of the stairs and a couple of others at the door? I'll leave it to you to decide how you want to handle it.....just a suggestion." Turning to Semult, "You wanna take a crack at trying to figure out what these things are?"
The bard incants something quietly and begins passing his hands over the assembled items.

Re: Wrath of the Righteous IC [3.5, Group B]
Trawyn
After a few minutes the bard stands and heaves a sigh of relief as he glances back and forth between the stairs and the doorway, "Apologies for the delay, but I'm glad we weren't disturbed and there are some useful items here."
With his foot he pushes the two flasks of unholy water under the nearby desk, "Bottled foulness...desecrated holy water." He then places two scrolls into his backpack, "Magics of a type I don't believe any of us capable of utilizing, but perhaps something we can sell or trade later."
Spoiler: OC2 Flasks of Unholy Water(if you want to carry them, you know where they are)
Scrolls of Entropic Shield and Divine Favor
Reaching down he divides the small pile of crossbow bolts into two stacks of six, hands one stack to Tellos and keeping the other for himself, "It appears we're the only two that have the weapons to utilize these at the moment."
Spoiler: OC12 +1 Crossbow bolts. Looks like there are only two crossbows in the party at the moment.
Of the two remaining scrolls, Trawyn hands one to Alamryn, "I believe you can utilize this spell if need be, and the remaining is one I might be able to employ."
Spoiler: OCAlamyrn - Scroll of Foundations of Stone; Trawyn - Scroll of Incite
Picking up the other two flasks he hands one each to Semult and Jemus, "Emergency healing, if you find yourself in need."
Spoiler: OCPotions of Cure Moderate Wounds; 1 each
He then hands the bracers to Semult, "These might provide a bit of protection if you're ever caught without your spell armor."
Spoiler: OCBracers of Armor +1
Looking around at the group then motioning to the wand and the cloak on the floor, "Myself, Tellos, and Semult can each employ this wand that creates multiple illusions of ourselves....like the tiefling there was using. The cloak provides some resistance against spells and other hazards." The remaining weapons, armor, and sundry items he shoves under the desk, "We can collect these later, on our way out, if we want to."
Spoiler: OCWand of Mirror Image 9 charges: Trawyn, Tellos, or Semult. I don't care how we decided, but one of us should take it. It's quite useful.
Cloak of Resistance +1: Don't know how others handle this when they're playing, but my groups often give this to anyone who has a +0 on any of their saves first and if that's no one, then anyone who speaks up for the item.
Once the particulars are worked out, "How's everyone feeling? I'm okay to continue...for now."
Spoiler: @EveryonePlease don't take this post the wrong way. It's not a, "I know what's best" post, but rather merely an attempt to keep the thread going because these kinds of things can really bog down PbP play in my experience. If you don't want the items as distributed, pocket them for sell/trade later or offer them to someone else in the party.

Taking up the wand, and handing the cloak to Tellos, Trawyn takes stock of the situation momentarily. Concerned about Jemus' wounds, he fishes into his backpack and pulls out a potion.
"Before we continue we should see to your wounds. Drink this, as well as the one I just gave you as well."
