I was just re-reading the strips where Faye got hired to the fighting ring, and noted: when she was asking for reassurance, Corpse Witch said "No one fights to pay off debts, or under indenture to another, or is in any way coerced." All technically true... because Bubbles didn't fight.

He was pretty much just a robot arm before this, right? Probably assorted odd jobs where an extra hand/grippy pincer/manipulator attachment would be useful. Maybe didn't actually get paid, as such, except for being allowed to live there/recharge/use the internet in exchange for doing whatever he could be helpful with. I imagine him working with Bubbles a lot before Faye came along, and possibly still after - there's always a good use for a spot to hold the tool you're expecting to need next, especially when that spot can put it away for you/bring out the next one without having to take you away from your work.

Yes, that's what I was getting at. He had an arm but ever since we knew him, that arm was his head.

So he can't actually help anyone with anything physical. Which means, was he fixing the books, collecting the bets, send threatening emails to snitches? What was he doing?

Corpse Which just doesn't seem like the kind of robot that would keep a "useless" robot around. So he had to have some use.

Also, he could be the bookie & pay-out (so, say, reads your card, prints out what your bet is, then after the fight scans it and transfer the money in the appropriate direction). Equally, he might be in charge of access: if he doesn't know your face, and no-one vouches, you don't go far in. Plenty of jobs for someone with a good eye and a decent brain.

See, I can agree with most of this. Brun isn't my favorite person, exactly, but it's still a positive feeling.

Today's comic is a fantastic representation of what i believe this comic is best suited for. Its about character interaction and relationships, not events. Events are merely in place to provide some framework upon which the relationships develop and move.

Yeah, I don't get all the hate. I mean, Brun's probably one of my least favorite characters at this point (forcing someone to buy a drink at gun/harpoon point is not exactly a good first impression) but I don't hate her or anything.
