Next Update...Feh, Soon! Soon as we can!
I'm really sorry for this, my friends. But the combination of con prep and con appearances (Jamie and I are at Connecticon this weekend, and have had to do emergency planning to make GenCon still a go) have drained us for time this week and last. The script and other parts of the project are moving right along, but the art and lettering have taken a hit.
We will have a big announcement at the Erfworld panel at ConnectiCon about a new Erfworld-related project coming up. That panel is 10 am Sunday, Room 11 & 12.
An Erfworld T-shirt also exists as of this afternoon, and there will be information next week on how to get one. Those will be for sale at the con, first time ever.
My policy on complaining about these sorts of things is, "Oh, go on and vent. Let me have it." However, I understand the GitP forum policies are somewhat more restrictive. So, feel free to call me names by email and PM. I assure you, I am not happy about the delay either, but we had no other choice.Last edited by pclips; 2007-07-18 at 01:02 AM.

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
They could just use a lot of boops.
But my feelings are that life happens. It's not pleasant, but it happens. So it's all good, and might keep me from obsessively checking the forums.
And anyone who feels the need to call you names should go get booped.
I am currently concentrating on RL stuffs. If you need me PM me.

Actually, just by making this post you have fully vanquished any ill feelings I might have had about the lack of updates.
Have fun, guys. And thank you for entertaining me for free. :D

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
Yes, by politely telling us beforehand that there will be no update you reduce the amount of complaining significantly. I'd be suprised if even one person complained in the forums. If you hadn't, some people would have started though (perhaps myself). While other people would say they can't complain because it's a free webcomic and blah, blah, blah...
All we "complainers" usually ask though is if you can't update, tell us. So thank you.
Um, one question though. I thought you had an extra comic because there was only one update last week and that update was only put up on Saterday because the Giant was late in updating. I kind of figured (since you were originally planning a page 71 to be up around Thursday or so and then have a brand new Saterday comic) that you would have used that opportunity to create a one page "buffer" so that you could use if you needed some time off later.
If you get the chance later, it would be nice if you took an unintended delay like we experienced last week to make a buffer instead of simply moving the comic that you were going to use for Saterday and turn it into the Tuesday comic.
Thanks, if you do.Last edited by tomaO2; 2007-07-12 at 12:03 PM.

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
Thanks for letting us know...
Would you mind sending a big box of those shirts to a reseller in Europe? Those shirts are really bad at swimming across the Atlantic. And the shipping costs a fortune. So maybe finding a European reseller might help poor European students like me affording one of those obviously miracolous Archenshirts.Last edited by Waldgeist; 2007-07-12 at 01:26 PM.

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
Heeer fishy fishy fishy.
Or did you mean twolling?
@pclips by all means, if you feel the need to take a bit of time off to grow your fan support (and perhaps your financial support) then do so. It is your right to do so after all. More, you've pointed out that the continuation of the strip past the current story arc is dependent on that, so as long as you do not abuse it, we your loyal fans understand and will be here when you get back.Last edited by ChowGuy; 2007-07-12 at 02:54 PM.

Can't you even pull out one of those awesome klogs? Pleeeez pretty pleeeeez with marbits on top?
I mean, in 7 days without input we will probably end up speculating on how Ansom could use his extensive amount of body hairs to conceal his units without Foolamancers...

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
Indeed, communication is a very effective tool for keeping the whining boops quiet; however, delays lead to silly posts in the forum regardless of clarity, intent or thoughtfullness - yet, some would say (myself, particularly) that silly posts happen with greater regularity at the posting of new comics, but those deal with unrestrained speculation built on no evidence whatsoever or in defiance of all evidence provided.

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
I'm very glad for the notice. Though I am of course unhappy that the strip is delayed, I understand completely. And I much prefer a set date for the comic than for me to waste two hours every day obsessively checking the site on the off-chance that it updated.
Methinks I need to get into Erfworld rehab.

Re: Next Update, Tuesday July 17
Hey, you guys got a life outside the comic, which is great by the way, so even if we wanted to shout and scream we ain't got the right to do so. Anyways have fun at the con and can't wait to see a shirt.

Google Reader is your friend. Giantitp has an RSS feed. I use it. I no longer have to obsessively refresh, instead I can contentedly play my MMOs. Instead, I'll just obsessively farm for items/monsters/etc. :D
