When you draw a picture in Inkscape, it uses vector graphics, which cannot be displayed in most web browsers. You have to export the final product to a bitmap, which can be a .png, .gif, or .bmp, but you risk losing some of the finer details.

I was just trying to think of a send-off for Inkscape artists...y'know, like how miners are always saying to each other "May you never get the black lung" or how bakers are saying "May your buns stay unburned and hot metal pans never come in contact with your sensitive bare flesh."
