You only use centurion mode on people that don't look like you. She just didn't realize she would use it at the start.

No, actually that's a good spot of a plot hole. I wonder if and when we will see the previous upgrade again.

Giving it more thought than Mookie probably did: she's fighting her literal clone, with the same powers, but a lot less knowledge. If she activates centurion mode, then Clonica will find out that it's a thing that she can do, so she'll have to fight Monsturion. The net effect will be that she won't gain an advantage, but her sidekicks will be even more outclassed.

Bad, bad idea. Remember the Sorcerer's Apprentice? Better blast the corpse to ashes.

Also, isn't a bit weird Danica's energy sword stained with blood? Is that thing solid?

Its a hard light construct. It isnt a star wars lightsaber, I dont think, its an actual blade of light. Probably one of those blades with an edge of a single atom so its absurdly sharp and blah blah blah.

Is it a sword shaped plasma weapon? Only Star Powered personnel can grasp it without crisping their hands into piles of ash.

Im guessing its basically like a green lanterns projection. Its hard light, not plasma, not a lightsaber. Just an absurdly sharp and durable blade that can cut through almost anything. If it was a lightsaber then the blood would have never even been on it.

167% sure that the thing is not really dead and will return. Either in three strips from now, or in the next storyline.

    I believe it's over.
Mookie did practically everything he could in the last few strips to justify Danica killing the clone.

I also believe that even if it will be open ended by ending the last page with a box that still contains Danica's hair, or the body twiching, it will not be followed and will be used only for the purpose of "dun dun DUN!!!"

I mean, considering the alternative, while less predictable, wouldn't exactly be good story telling

"We just killed a regular castmember to a monster that's been existence for literally five minutes and is more rampaging-beast rather than villain-with-personality," would be a fairly crap move ^^ 'Danica kills Clonica then gets hit hard by it,' while not unpredictable, is a better choice (if you're gonna kill someone at least).

I'd phrase it as giving more thought than Danica did- it's a pretty hectic situation that escalated quickly, I can see her not thinking of it. I don't think she'd think two-steps forward like you did.

This is a story. It’s 100% under the control of the writer, for good or for ill. Mookie chose to put Danica and Clonica in this situation. He didn’t have to have Clonica be a rampaging beast. He didn’t have to escalate this into a life-or-death situation within two six-second combat rounds. And most importantly, he didn’t have to have a stupid fake-out cliffhanger implying that someone got Star-Powered-Shank’d. He CHOSE to do that.

It’s not an inevitable law of nature that someone was going to get shanked here and therefore it does less damage to the story to have it be Clonica rather than someone with a name. THAT’S the big problem here. It’s not a choice between killing Clonica and letting Clonica kill a permanent cast member. It’s a choice between putting in a stupid fake-out panel (that then forced the aforementioned choice, which is not a smart corner to paint oneself into) or not.

Aren't fillers supposed to be more substantial? This is just an ad. The alien races info pages were fillers. This is just a waste.

I think that it was a mistake that the monster didn't kill anyone, and it also would be a mistake, if it's already dead. Danica currently has four little helpers, when she needs two at most. Right now, they steal the spotlight from each other, and each one of them doesn't get enough screen time to be developed or have his own plot without long detours. So kill one character or two and have their death be the catalyst for the development of the others. Also, the death should have an impact, so it should be the toad and/or Grex.

The monster should not have been killed, because it's the only menace for the incoming Federation troops. So its presence would have kept tension alive.

And, with a look to future issues, the monster would have been the first real danger to Danica, with lots of options to explore. Just to make an example, it could have been enslaved/domesticated by a new master (one who manages to ease its constant pain? Maybe someone who knows enough about SP powers to hide it from Mitch), develop intelligence and ambition during its time as a minion, and, later, become an autonomous villain with its own agenda, like self-cloning to become the leader of a new Evil Star Sentinel Legion, or going around enslaving planets.

    Have to disagree here.
I dislike killing characters just to show that the threat is super series.
A better way to show Clonica as a threat is simply to ignore the others and focus only on Danica. The friends will try to help with bombs, guns or other means, only to be swatted like flies and ignored in a second to focus back on the real battle.

Furthermore, while they are FAR from being developed characters, they do have some level of personality as well as a different set of skills, so at least on a theoretical level the sidekicks can work well as support characters, switching between them based on the story's needs.

No argument that Clonica could have been a threat as a recurring villain, but everything from the second Clonica appeared on the pages was a preparation for getting rid of her, so I doubt that will be the direction he'll go with.
