    Round Ten... Loading...
The below happens between Galactic Dates 217516.0.0.81 - 2175018.0.0.80
Don’t forget to link to any rolls you make for ANY Attribute checks, plus rolls for rulers you will start using at the start of next round. If you want a new ruler in the next round, you must state so in your action post for this round and link to their rolls. Any increases from actions for this round are counted for the ruler you start your next round with (because it’s handier to account for by the co-GM), which may or may not be your current ruler.
    Good luck!

    Rules Alerts and Changes!
    • Occupation Rules have been updated! Please take a moment to review them in the Rules Thread. As we mentioned a plausible update last round opener, these new rules will take effect starting this round. Some highlights:
Both actions and non-actions are now blocked when an Occupying player chooses to block a stat
Choosing to block a stat opens up special actions for the Occupying player to choose to do, as an additional once per turn action, related to the blocked stat.
Please read the full “Occupation” rules for more information.
    • Failed Assassinations/Kidnappings of a named and stat-holding character do not expend the Intrigue 5 Special Action, but the target of the failed attempt receives an additional +2 to resist further attempts in the following round, as security around them is heightened. This rule change/clarification is to better fall in line with what is more commonly understood to already exist, and has nothing to do with the Terror section for this Round. Don’t immediately go look. Finish reading the Rules Changes/Alerts first.
    • Trade Rules have been clarified. Of note, the addition that both parties must acknowledge a Trade of Technologies is now included in the Rules. Gifting a technology does not require this acknowledgment from the recipient.
    • Per the existing rules, the round after a player is confirmed to have made a Permanent Tactical Doctrine, all subsequent battles have a +2 to the Tactical Maneuvering roll for the rest of the game for that Stellar Power. Wth a new Military 5 [Tactical Doctrine] creating a second or more TD(s), a player can only choose to use one Tactical Doctrine at a time per battle. They can choose to use a different doctrine in the same turn in a different battle, so long as they indicate the choice in their IC Post. Each Permanent Tactical Doctrine adds to the total +2 bonuses received.
    • Coalition Losses have been changed to fall in line with the Size Loss changes. Coalition Losses are now rolled at 1d3, with a loss on 1. This change is being monitored for potential reversion.
    • Just a reminder: If you are fighting more than one battle in a round, you have to decide which one your Leader is commanding. All other battles your country is involved in, but your leader is not leading personally, only get half the leader's Military score as a bonus. Generals created by the Military 5 special action can be assigned to lead armies as well. If a player does not specify which commanders they are using, it is assumed the Leader will lead the first army listed and that unnamed commanders will lead the remainder.

The above means that if you are ONLY fighting one battle, by default, your Leader will be leading that battle.
    • Please see the OOC Thread regarding an important announcement from the GM Team.

    Growth!

(D10 used; RTH Requires Verification CI is now permanent)

A sudden breakthrough in translation technology in the year '514 makes extended diplomatic contact with the Grymlan combine a feasible reality. Via a special speech filter applied post-simulacrum translation, Grymlan speech can be made to sound like a quaint and old fashioned Dipanan dialect. Taking advantage of this advance for the sanity of Dipanan delegates, a diplomatic outpost is constructed in combine space. (D5 used; DCN establishes an Embassy with OwO!)

(D5 used; HMY establishes an Embassy with CLS!)

(D5 used; CEL establishes an Embassy with DNM!)

(Diplomacy Resolution used; VSL successfully presses a claim on K23 1/1 and gains 1 Unit of Telenite-Yundar Coalition Forces!)

(CBS successfully presses a claim on I5, 2/2)

(MYA successfully presses a claim on J30, 1/1 and gains 1 Unit of Assassins!!)

The diminutive drone inhabitants of the region finally reach consensus that joining the Republic is in their best interest. (CEL successfully presses a claim on Q27, 2/2 and gains 1 Unit of Drone Defenders!)

The Syndrome and the Housers are finally able to come to an agreement. An awful lot of money changes hands, and it's impossible to tell who came out on top of the deal, especially when Church of Rust representatives show up with their own impressive offer driving up costs to the Syndrome, but in the end the House agrees to become a member state of the Syndrome Protectorates. (SYN successfully presses a claim on U19, 2/2 and gains 1 Unit of Security Detail!)

(RMT successfully presses a claim on Q21, 1/2.)

(KSP successfully presses a claim on N4, 1/2.)

(DSD successfully establishes a claim on U7.)

(MFM successfully establishes a claim on F16.)

(TZH completes CPC Base in E5 gaining 1 Rep & 1 Favor!)

(MFM successfully raises their Reputation with CmC 0->1 and ANE 0->1 !)

In one of the large scale galactic bids carried out at the Pan-Galactic Auction following the brawl over Droccen Superstar Korima the entire sector of space callously dubbed “Lot 5” by it’s Nyxian invaders is auctioned off to the distant and disintegrating Rothuun government for a tidy sum. Opinions of the locals about being pawns to be bought and sold is not especially considerate towards their auctioneer or purchaser and the region grows more unstable for it. (D24 is transferred from NYX to RMT! D24 progresses from Unrest to Unstable!)

The Star League gains a powerful economic boon as the Etherites flock to the Vilari in the wake of disturbing rumors along their southern border and an influx of refugees. The pledging of Etherite wealth to the Star League’s grandiose purpose will surely aid the League in expanding its presence in the economic realms of interest to a peaceful galaxy. (ETH pledges vassalage to VSL!)

In a surprising move SPACE KING, the first and possibly most famous KING OF SPAAACCEEE, bends the (nearest artificial approximation of a) knee to the Chief Deputy Warden of the Wardens of World’s End more or less doubling the Warden’s claimed dominion and expanding their reach around the Core dramatically. Whether out of fear of what lay within the Core or for reasons yet unknown to the general galactic populace this political maneuver has many scratching their heads as to what SPACE KING and the Wardens had planned. (KNV pledges vassalage to WWE!)

(CEL establishes an Embassy with DNM)

(NDA becomes a Merchant Power! NDA may spend a sixth action on [Economy] as long as they maintain 15 or more Trade Posts.)

(Resolution Action Used; RTH successfully presses a claim on U9, 1/1. RTH Diplomacy is treated as a '1' for Round 10! RTH gains 1 unit of Draxxeri Nomads!)

    GLR M9
    KRO F14
    CWZ G25
    HMY K3
    MYA G29
    CLS X12

    Trade!

(E10 used; NDA is now a Merchant Power and may take a sixth Economy only action each round!)

(DCC E5 used to improve G21 from minor to good and take TP2)

Hasson 3 was a wonderfully potent and pure fuel but the Kronin were technicians as well as soldiers on their numerous battlefields and had learned early on the importance of not relying exclusively on a limited supply to run a war. Battlefield adaptations by the Kronin soon see space fighter craft retrofitted to run off of just about any source of high potential energy storage and the jury rigging efforts of the Kronin quickly gain widespread popularity among engineers the galaxy over with access to the potent HEAT Engine. (E5 used; HEAT Engines Resource Requirement now broadened to “Fuel” Category by KRO!)

While there were those in Union calling for war against the Alysians for their cutting off of Methane to the capital and constant harassment about orbital bombardment of Union protected cities the General Secretary hoped to find a path of compromise. To that end resources and labor are poured into the energy crystal mines of sector R4 securing a source of Alysian approved clean energy. (E5 used; UNN upgrades R4 Energy Crystals from [Good] to [Great] taking TP3!)

Leelee Buildfast is abundantly grateful to her fellow Grymlans permitting herself and her team of prototype engineers safe harbor in the wake of the Sisterhood’s dissolution into the Core Patrol. Core Containment Incorporated may not have captured the hearts and minds of Axiom but they were assured a safe and productive future with their own base of operations nestled in Combine space. As a gesture of gratitude crunch time efforts are poured into producing a general guideline for reverse engineering xeno technologies. While the briefed purpose was to aid in peeling off technological advances made by the Same it was undeniable that the techniques outlined were as applicable to the Same as they were to any sufficiently technologically advanced stellar power. (OwO completes CCI Base gaining “The Essential Grymlan’s Guide to Reverse Engineering aka EGGRE” tech. Effect: +1 to technology theft rolls. Requires: Grymlan Farseeker Corps)

(OOC: Action temporarily invalid, due to Trading/Gifting of Trade Posts requiring (a) an Embassy between players and (b) an Economy Action spent by both players. The former qualifier is true, but KCW did not post this last round. The GM Team is aware of extenuating circumstances due to out of game issues, and the Head GM has made stipulation to the normal rules; if KCW acknowledges the gifting in a non-action this round, the Tech gifting will go through. This ruling is made in response to some prior rules needing clarification and the previously mentioned extenuating circumstances. Further "gifts" of Trade Posts will follow the rules.)

    Ideology!

With the support from the UPT an attempt to bring about the conversion of multiple regions with wide spread ideological promotion and psychic connection is pushed. However only one sector willingly converts the rest resisting the attempt. (P5 used; KSP successfully converts E29 to Spiral Dancer)

Malicha manages to commune with Altea, who has affirmed that she is no longer the Pontiff. Indeed, she has transcended the office, and instead wishes to confine herself to the catacombs of the Cathedral with any Caller Fragments the Church collects. The simple fact that Altea has been communed with after an 'abdication' strengthens the resolve of the Church as a whole, and with her new physical form obtaining relics will be far more difficult for any would-be interlopers...(P5 used; ITS establishes Heir of Iteus an Iteusism Assembly in Itean (T16)!)

Originating from the Xaldarian Expanse as a sage and seeker of truths Brez Y'ett's sponsorship of a formal philosophical academy being organized back on the Symbraum homeworld came as no surprise. The "God Mind Seminary" was set to become the premiere bastion for Spiral Dancer instruction not only in UPT space but across the whole of Axiom. Here it was hoped the finest most inquisitive minds of the gods would be shaped and honed by the revelations of divine knowledge allowing the psychic web to grow stronger through shared knowledge of the highest truths. (P5 used; UPT establishes God Mind Seminary a Spiral Dancer Assembly in Xaldarian Expanse (E31)!)

(P5 used; FCO establishes a Church of Rust Assembly in Origin’s End (V20)!)

It is said that numerous Knights Vacio are wavering in their loyalty toward the self-styled SPACE KING. However, SPACE KING is so awesome that only jealous foreigners could have spread these vile thoughts among the Knights. In particular, the Uplift Chorus and the Church of Rust seem to be guilty of the horrible crime of not fully devoting themselves to the worship of SPACE KING, even swaying some Knights to value things other than loyalty to their leader. But surely SPACE KING will find a way to overcome these B-list villains, just as he has overcome every one before them.

The Cult of Renewal has been stagnating since the Maturation. Strangely, it turns out that aliens care more for wasting their time on UwU’s most popular websites or defending the galaxy from the evil incarnate hiding in its core than being pressured into having children. Religious leaders regularly meet, but they have run dry of ideas, and have settled for waiting for a divine sign. Either someone or something will come and renew the Cult of Renewal, or it will die a slow death just like the cult that came before it.

GLR and KNV have no State Ideology LCs - respectively the Cult of Renewal and Chivalric Codes! If they do not take an action to change State Ideology or convert some LCs back, Unrest may occur in the next round! Additionally, the Cult of Renewal has 0 LCs and will become a Lost Ideology if no LCs are converted to it!

(SYN adopts Iteusism as their State Ideology)

(WWE successfully converts M21 from DDD to Shadow and Flame, In Accord)

(DCC successfully converts H22 to the One)

(UPT successfully converts Demon’s Fall (E27) to Spiral Dancer)

(VSL successfully converts the Hoop Breach (L28) to Way of the Tides)

(TZH successfully converts D4 to the One)

(LYR successfully converts U29 to OwO)

(RTH successfully converts G23 to the One)

    Terror!

North of the Core investigation by the Geleans into the Same’s unusual advanced technology bears fruit when Auroran Ideals Corp. has a massive breakthrough in reverse engineering the remnants of the Same’s unique weapons system. The breakthrough announcement is quickly plastered across galactic message boards due to a mishap involving the Aeternus Nightly News and a likely very out of work intern at AIC but aside from Axiom’s news-aware being alerted the Same themselves seem none the wiser. The same unfortunately cannot be said for efforts along the southern border…(GLR successfully steals Energy Conversion Weaponry! Effect: +1 Battle rolls. Requires: Arcana. Slot: Ranged Weaponry.)

The Wardens were not an especially technological or scientifically minded organization being more concerned with advancing their ideological and political aims than in pursuing a material understanding of the world. Their mystic rituals gave them great prowess in battle and bravery in many matters but their work to divine meaning from the wreckage of v0.07 is far from successful. Core Patrol offers what aid they can and hosts researchers at the Umbral Augury but this proves to be a mistake when the wrong button is pressed by an enterprising investigator and a broadcast is emitted by the chunk of Same. The Wardens and Patrolmen have only moments to realize what has happened, a broadcast directly into the center of Corespace carrying coordinates and a distress beacon, before the scraps on board the Augury detonate in a fiery explosion severely damaging the Augury and killing or wounding nearly two hundred Wardens and Patrolmen. Needless to say no greater understanding was achieved in relation to the Same’s acts of divination, a signal with unknown but no doubt nefarious purpose had been broadcast, and a great wound in the Core Patrol’s HQ was left in dire need of repair. (WWE fails to acquire a Same technology! A beacon was transmitted to the Same tracing back to Hearth (N18)! Umbral Augury is damaged! While an Organization's HQ is damaged, it does not grant a Base Bonus and the Organization takes a -2 penalty to all rolled actions; the HQ can be repaired with a two-action Project by the owner of the region in which it is located. If the Umbral Augury is Damaged two more times before it is repaired it will be Destroyed!)

Commodore Bandon of the Eradicator base positioned in sector Z18 is thrilled when a ship matching the description of the Broker’s drifts into his space emitting an SOS. Eradicators are swiftly dispatched to “aid” the ship by escorting it to dock with the Eradicator base whereupon it is discovered the ship had been abandoned by its crew but remained loaded down with high quality salvage. Though perhaps a wiser Eradicator would have questioned such seemingly unbelievable luck Bandon was desperate for salvage in the underexplored region he sat in and ordered the vessel brought to him immediately. Unfortunately it appears this was indeed a trap laid by unfriendly interests and his lack of caution dooms his fellow Eradicators when a nuclear device is detonated following dry dock wiping out the Commodore and his seat of power alongside. (ANE base in Z18 is destroyed by unknown assailants!)

High Dreamer Xasarth had faced resource shortages, provincial rebellions, and war with pantheons of hidden strength and overcome these obstacles. He had led the Kamasati Pantheon into a new era of enlightenment formalizing the tenets of the Spiral Dancers and expanding the pantheon’s protected holdings fivefold. He was strong, healthy, a powerful leader his fellow gods could look to for a steady constant...until he wasn’t.
A great sickness takes hold of the High Dreamer in the wake of his conflict with the Gray unionist whalers and the great leader is confined to rest as an unknown malady spreads its cancerous blackness through his godly form. Dreamers and Dream Children alike of learning and medicine from the pantheon’s holdings can do nothing to save their divine leader finding whatever sickness or wicked spell had taken hold was too powerful and poorly understood to be counteracted. The High Dreamer’s mate and companion Xix is present for her partner’s final moments and the two share a tender moment of two beings long in love now torn apart by malice and death. The High Dreamer’s widow swears divine vengeance upon the heads of those responsible. (High Dreamer Xasarth of KSP is assassinated! An investigation may reveal the responsible party!)

One hazy day in the jungles of Bos 1 a curious sight is spotted by Mier Formican soldiers on guard outside the temple-manor of blessed Aptinoma Mier, a gaggle of halflings from sector C19 appeared at the edge of the colony’s cleared land with an unusual demeanor. The halflings claim to represent vague “corporate interests” from their home sector and demand an audience with the Formican demigod. Suspicions are raised by their peculiar actions and a security sweep ordered by the alert guards reveals an infiltrator attempting to enter the queen’s private chambers while his comrades acted as a distraction. The trespasser is bearing equipment that seems to indicate an intent to kidnap the Formican’s majestic leader. The responsible parties commit a bombastic suicide when discovered self immolating through some hidden device on their person that leaves naught but ash and suspicion in their wake! (A kidnapping attempt against Aptinoma Mier of the MFM fails! An investigation may reveal the responsible party!)

Predator has many thoughts, many ideas, and seeks to consult the Mier Formica Queens.
(Predator makes demands for one of MFM’s actions. This section of the Opener is still a Work in Progress...)

With the aid of the refugees that arrived in their borders, the Etherites begin to piece together a story of strange governmental changes in H28. The sector seems to have been completely taken over by the Melfynian ruling body, apparently in a secret bid to push their galactic border further out from their capital. The take over was done peacefully enough, but many of the locals were unhappy with the changes; they either got over it, or left for the Etherite border. Still, many families were separated, and many people were made unhappy.
(ETH investigates the unrest in H28, and discovers MYA is in control of the region! The Unrest occurred because there were peaceful protestors who decided to leave the region, rather then fight.)

The Kamasati “Gods” had ignored the needs of the people for too long and without the Advanced sensor arrays traveling from planet to planet was impossible without outside assistance. During some of these assisted travels some chatter on the Psychic Web indicates that the The mightiest gods of the Pantheon didn't care for the needs of the commons and their failure to deliver on material wants was no accident: They had never intended to, desiring only greater power and glory for themselves. While many refused to believe this as their leader, High Dreamer Xasarath, could provide answers to even the most difficult of questions and the most heinous of accusations. Gaining the support of the people he managed to prevent the unstable population from lashing out, this was until The High Dreamer came down with a suspicious sickness that proved to be fatal. Not knowing if this was a move for power, outside jealousy or an attempt to focus the populaces attention elsewhere the people had had enough. Grabbing what weapons were available they took to the streets and random acts of violence spread through the capital system of Kamasati. The violence continues until one day the psychic web is overwhelmed with messages from someone calling themselves The Awoken. They promise that if the rebels attention is focused on overthrowing the current pantheon a new era of prosperity and transparency will follow. The message seems to resonate and soon the random acts of violence are coordinated under a movement lead by the Awoken.
(KSP Capital is now in Rebellion! Required Resource is not met! High Dreamer died unexpectedly! Whispers, possibly coming from The Awoken, possibly from someone else and used by the Awoken, are spread throughout the Psychic Web. 3 Rebel "Restless" Units are in the region!)

An’Null’s Eradicators dread having to give the Shadow Admiral bad news. Many messengers die when he hears that both bases in the north and eastern quadrants of the Galaxy have been attacked and destroyed with only a few clues leading the perpetrators… The Shadow Admiral is not pleased, and rumors indicate that he has sworn to find and personally deal with those responsible!
(ANE Bases in Z18 and R2 are both destroyed!)

The following Capitals go Unstable due to a lack of their required resources and failure to attempt and procure a source of the demanded resource.
    (N6 KSP)

The following regions go into Rebellion due to a lack of interest from their leading governments…

    War!

After more than two decades of exemplary service as commander of the Harbinger's fighter wing, Aishwarya Khatri reluctantly accepts a promotion to Fleet Admiral. As the all-time Celenian ace with 457 craft destroyed during her career as a fighter pilot, Khatri says she'll continue to "lead from the front" and coordinate military action from her cockpit. (CEL recruits a Military 10 General, “Aishwarya Khatri”)

While SPACE HORSES are naturally very intelligent creatures, they are still simply animals. Silver too, was a mere trusty steed until one day, tragedy stuck. In the search to enhance his brain muscles, Dio #27.5 foolishly attempted to manhandle unstable psychic spirals, causing a massive explosion! Attempting to save the poor clone Silver heroically, dashed between Dio #27.5 and the mound of unstable spirals. While the remains of that Dio clone were later found scattered across the citadel hanger, Silver was seemingly impaled by hundreds of psychic spirals. Even after the finest FLEX surgery SPACE KING could afford, several spirals remained lodged in Silver's skull as removing them would ensure a quick inglorious demise. But in a twist that only a TRUE SPACE KING would consider an upside, the presence of psychic spirals has given the beast enhanced intelligence in addition to telepathic abilities. The same established a foothold outside the core and this could not be tolerated. The Rothuun Minotaurs and Wardens of World's End were the first to divert troops to sector Q17 and met the Same V0.05 in combat. The Same had only just started their replication cycle and were caught off guard by the quick response to their invasion. Unfortunately one of the WWE fleets slightly misjudged the FTL jump and was lost before the battle started however the rest of the RMT and WWE fleets enter Q17 guns blazing. One of the Same fleets quickly fell to the overwhelming military might these two stellar powers brought. The Same unit in charge attempts to retake control and while it managed to take down one of the WWE fleets it is forced to retreat with its two remaining units.

Hannibal V was back for vengeance thinking that The Syndrome were no match for its advanced AI tactical skill. When Hannibal arrived in the system with 3 fleets to secure victory all previous calculations became obsolete as a fleet from The Duenem was awaiting them next to the Syndrome forces. Not to be outdone the AI quickly started processing the new threat but the allied forces would not give it the chance. SYN was the first to attack quickly followed by covering fire from the DNM, Hannibal lost two units in quick succession before completing a basic plan of attack. Countering with heavy fire from its remaining fleet Hannibal managed two take down three fleets two of the SYN fleets fell with one of the DNM troops being taken down alongside them. It was at this moment that one of the SYn fleets positioned itself perfectly to fire at the AI himself, rerouting the only units he had left Hannibal fired a few quick shots to prevent its own destruction. Unfortunately for Hannibal his target was one of the first fleets to be fitted with the Enhanced Microplating and his shots failed to penetrate the hull allowing it to return fire on the AI obliterating it from existence. Without its leader the last remaining fleet was quickly dispatched resulting in a victory for the DNM and SYN!

The Gingerbread Men of H14 are caught by surprise when the Kronin ships come, barely mobilizing their Gingerbread Soldiers as Kronin ships move into orbit. The Gingerking wants to fight, but his advisors make him realize that they have no way to fight against the Kronin spaceships, demanding he surrender to keep them safe. After hours of argument, he does, and the Kronin take possession of the planet with only a few shots exchanged. Rumors say the Gingerking has gone into hiding to lead a guerilla campaign against Kronin foot soldiers, but surely he will be easily crushed by the invaders' might. Still, rumors say the former leader of the region is quoted to have said the following before going into hiding:

The Viceroy of the Conclave brings a large force to bear, with the promise of amnesty and a demand for surrender. Outnumbered and outgunned, the Brewers still have tricks they can put to use. Early into the Conclave incursion, a small shuttle crashes into the flagship, destroying it utterly, although the Brewer on board another ship is taken captive. A week later, the Viceroy sights the Brewer concentration of ships. This is when things begin to go wrong.
As the first shots are fired, it becomes obvious that the Conclave ships seem slow and sluggish, with its personnel seeming tired and emotional. The Brewers take advantage of this, outmanoeuvring the Conclave ships by what seems like inches. Saldizan Rey-Zansharak quickly discovers that the water on a number of his ships have been spiked with a very strong spirit, seemingly only coming into effect at the worst possible time. To prevent further losses and find out how this occurred, he orders a withdrawal, leaving a few ships drifting.

It is at this point, the Brewer captive, left behind in the confusion, walks out of his cell to the stranded captain, and, as the Drunken Master of the Brewers, accepts his surrender.

The loss from two years ago was fresh in the minds of the Svaatyr Theocracy and now they find themselves fighting the savage space dogs once again. Svrrta-Zel Mrrzety enters the system J22 with care on the lookout for any movement. Within moments the pack of wild space dogs are sighted approaching the SVA fleets. Svrrta-Zel Mrrzety immediately orders all units to open fire and the instinct driven beasts are too late with their evasion, with the majority of the dogs dead the only one remaining was Alpha. The System was carefully scanned for the remaining dog, with a blur of motion Alpha appeared and started ripping through ship hulls with its powerful jaws. One SVA unit fell and Svrrta-Zel Mrrzety could see Alpha advancing towards a second one, in a split second decision she moved from the back of combat to counter Alpha and save the fleet from destruction. Her ship collided with Alpha killing the foul creature but sustaining critical hull damage in the process. In her final moments she knew this was how it was supposed to be, The Nine had guided her to train a successor these last few years so that the SVA would thrive. Running with the thought further, and combing through a great deal of all the information that Guardian left via the OMS, the researcher is quite certain that the best bet of a new lead is to locate the Caller AI named <Acquirer/Unseen/Claimer> Finder! The only problem is… all reports indicate that Finder is the most elusive of the Caller AI...

The Svaatyr Theocracy were perturbed by the act of terrorism carried out against Shimmering Light Monastery, not so much for its targets as the Nolkir followed the sphynx gods not some ephemeral Oneness, but proof that their broder could be breached by hostile forces was disturbing. An elite team of highly educated veteran investigators are dispatched to the Emjata System to pick through the wreckage, electronic records from the time, and even tracking down potential eyewitnesses to try and deduce what had happened at Shimmering Light.
The first few weeks are spent canvassing for clues and after a month a few clear leads have been sifted from the detritus. It seemed a commercial ship had been chartered by a newly registered ‘Ridi’x crew all claiming to have graduated from Svaatyr piloting academies but a look into their academic records beyond the cursory revealed they were forgeries. A whole crew of ‘Ridi’x who hadn’t trained at an academy was practically unimaginable given the draconic species’ barbarous nature left to their own devices. If unregistered ‘Ridi’x were flying a commercial space ship something had elevated them to the ability to do so. Further digging into both the forgeries and genetic records, fastidiously kept by Nolkir bureaucrats, reveals telltale signatures of UPT origin. The investigators gather their evidence and present their leading theory backed by the evidence; the Symbraum brain slugs inserted one of their own kind into the mind of the Abbess and had her/them/it trigger the Monastery’s self destruct immolating themselves and the base in a terrorist attack for unknown purposes against the Sisterhood, Core containment, and most offensively the Svaatyr! The Duenem have now witnessed the existence of many Caller Fragments, yet have not yet possessed on of their own. With this knowledge, they send many scout-class Duenem seeking whatever they can find that might match the data they have for what a Caller Fragment is and can do. After months of what seems to be fruitless searching, a strange energy reading is found on an otherwise abandoned comet hurtling through the universe on it’s own. Upon landing on the comet successfully, they discover a ball of what seems to be clear glass, but with their familiarity with mechanics, determine the ball of glass actually has almost invisible frameworks of what the Duenem can only guess are complex technological engravings, like some overzealous motherboard. Integrating the device into a ship would take time, but those Duenem who are dedicated towards research and development speculate that doing so might very well allow the ship to bend light around itself; making the ship even harder to detect!

The Green humanoids live in an urbanized republic powered by Pink vibro crystal technology. Ndoda explorers find a series of space stations experimenting on the razor's edge of the most important scientific endeavour in Axiom. Breeding fluffy cats enhanced by SCIENCE. That’s right for nearly 1000 years generations of scientists from across Axiom have gathered in the quest to make the perfect feline accomplice, but at what cost. What have these beings united by love of felines done, have they worked tirelessly because they could, but never stopped to ask if they should. Fluffy Cats are a, a six-clawed, four-legged, and long-tailed feline breed standing at one foot in height possessing coats of unimaginable softness and volume, fluffier and more luxurious than any other known material, able to be bred in a variety of colors and patterns. The fur is made of Fluffidium, a flexible precious mineral able to insulate and shine with brilliant luster. Suitable as pets and material supply, these cats can be shaved or have the sheddings collected to use in replacement of almost any precious mineral or high-strength fabric. Chaos erupts in the stations soon after first contact with Ndoda expeditionary fleet, as the scientists scramble to keep the secret to themselves. In the midst of the scramble a super intelligent Fluffy cat by the name of Neko Jr. has seized control of the operation, corralling her supporters into a cult, while objecting all who oppose her iron rule into the vacuum of space. Now she is the sole ruler of the sector and no longer wishes to exploit her fluffy feline brethren. Lyrean diplomats struggle to find a suitable system for several months until they come across an ancient luminary. Rotating around this red giant a sublight civilization of tiny dog men resembling Corgi’s .These corgi’s have peacefully spread across the habitable systems with the aid of a strange computational device known as Q tracers, enabling them to quickly calculate how many resources they need to optimally develop a new colony. After conquering most of the solar systems the corgi’s have set their sites on spreading outside their solar system, as the Q tracers have calculated that the Red giant only has 10000 years before Supernova. (LYR discovers V28 which contains a [Good] resource of Q tracers, an open LC, 2 Units of Good boi’s, and a Great Project: Key to Corgi survival (1/5)!)

Lyrean explorers find an exceedingly odd solar system. As the diplomats move closer they hear a series of messages on repeat. As Lyreans ships attempt to decipher the signal, they find nearly 1000 copies of the GLD blueprints in a wide variety of ciphers and languages. As they advance closer to the system the remains of a habitable planet covered in pulsating continent sized bio mechanical tumours becomes far more evident. Here too the frequency of signals increases hiding a cacophony of rage, betrayal, and regret. While the Lyreans might never truly know what transpired hear, all that’s clear is that no intelligent life remains. One form of life that’s prospering are the Waridh plants, garish flowers that contain nanobots devoted to purging dead tissue. (LYR discovers T28 which contains a [Great] resource of Waridh plants, and an open LC)

As the regions between the Harmony and the Core find their vacuums of power filled by competing stellar powers, the curious hive mind instead pushes north to determine what lies near the galaxy’s edge. Their ships encounter what could best be described as a near-space age assortment of primitives that seem to have a very mercantile mindset about them, and seem to be on the precipice of a large scale HEROIC UPRISING against the capitalist institutions of their home system. The rest of the sector’s resources seem to be nothing special, with the exception of a lovely nebula that paints their skies one of a dozen slowly changing colors. The Ninurtine Empire
    Round 10

    News and Rumours
    • Announcement of the fabricated SYN claim to Q23 surprises nobody in the Imperial government, which has long harboured suspicion that the nefarious beings have built most of their expansion upon such forgeries.
    • In a surprisingly lengthy speech, the Secretary-General outlines the flaws in the reasoning of the Syndrome's response. That they apparently do not consider dishonest subversion of a foreign government with the intent of subjugating it a "hostile act" is telling. That the Sisterhood found no evidence of foul play in a completely different claim means nothing with regard to this one.
    • The Commissioner-General is privately heard to remark that anyone who vouches for the Syndrome on this issue will "look like a chump" when the proof emerges.
    • The Empire seconds the Republic's demand for the Syndrome to publicly renounce its false and illegal alleged claim to the region.
    • Making the most of the new technology provided by the Republic of Celes, the Malak shipyards begin work on a new class of ship, the Terrible, the largest ships yet to be launched by the Empire.
    • Preparations begin on Martu for hosting a Galactic Fair in the near future, with shuttle lines installed and a new park built to accommodate it, some way outside the existing colony city.

    - The hum of engines echos outside of the former prison planet. It is early morning and rain thuds against the dull blue-gray stone of the ground. The colony seems abandoned, only one person is out tonight. The Drunken Master steps out into the pouring rain to greet the shuttle that just landed. The large landing vessel hisses as it settles into place and a landing ramp slides down. The Bulkhead slides open sending a beam of white light piercing through the darkness. Three figures clad in black armor with a red insignia over their left eye. The middle one had a different insignia than the other two, it depicted a fist clenched around a sun with a dragon coiled around the gauntlet. He stepped down of the landing platform on to the wet stony surface of the planet. "I am King-General Krazkul, leader of the Kronin Empire. We have been watching you during your first few engagements with the Conclave and received your request for help. I admire your resolve, you have put up a good fight and we are willing to offer our aid. I have come to personally lead our troops in the defense of this world." He turns and points to the early morning sky where several large cruisers came into view, followed by swarms of small gunships and transports. "I hope this should suffice."

    [Military] Raise a new Battle-Pod
More Symbiote Carriers are readied for battle in the event that the Celenians are willing to attack the inhabitants of Q23 in revenge for their joining with the Protectorates rather than the Celenians.

[Military] Raise a Unit of Reclaimed Battle Droids

Two Strainladies have announced their intent to campaign for Overladyship. Violet-Pale-Feet claims to have discovered a way to modify a creature after it has been born, but is highly secretive about the details. Red-Golden-Eyes is perfecting a technique to allow organic life and industrial civilization to coexist symbiotically, using Alituran space stations and Krankot cities as testing grounds.

The Krankot mech-knights and Remian battle droids took heavy losses in the fight against Hannibal. Their surviving members are shuffled into other units to fill holes in the ranks.

The Celenian claims of foul play are dismissed. The Syndrome have been proven innocent of such misconduct by the Sisters of Silence, and unless Celes has some new evidence they would like to present, their accusations are nothing more than empty threats. The Syndrome also question how the Celenians intend to "defend" the natives from the Syndrome, given that no hostile action is being taken. The only way would be to perform a hypocritical attack, one which would cause significant loss of life to the natives and put them under the control of a repressive military dictatorship rather than the benevolent unity offered by the Protectorates.

    Republic of Celes (CEL)
Under the leadership of Consul Milton Euler
    Round 10

    News and Rumors
    • Perfidy! The Office of the Consul announces the shared results of an investigation into SYN's activities in Q23. Surprising no one who was paying attention in the first place, the Syndrome's claims to the region are entirely fabricated, the result of an insidious infiltration of local governments. These shameless acts of duplicity cannot stand! A civilization of naked kleptocracy has no place among equals in matters of galactic importance. Syndrome's actions demonstrate an utter lack of respect for the galactic community and the rule of law. SYN will publicly renounce their claim to the region. The Celenian Navy will defend the natives if Syndrome attempts to capitalize on their farcical claim; the people of Q23 must be free to decide their own fate! NUT, WWE, GLR, VSL, FCO, RMT, DNM are all called upon to condemn this lawlessness.
    • The Office of the Ministry of the Interior admits some vexation that RMT succeeded in acquiring a controlling interest of Ordivician Alloys. The Rothuun's position is generously described as 'tenuous' in politely worded transmissions and they are made aware that the export of alloys will only continue as long as it is in the interests of the Republic. Accordingly, RMT is congratulated on their recent victory against the Same.
    • A massive effort is underway to retrofit Celenian ships with the shockingly efficient energy weapons GLR has provided. While the rate of fire is deemed insufficient for the needs of fighter combat, the new antimatter cannons are ideal for the artillery role of capital ships' main weaponry. While the Republic's two cruisers engage in a second campaign against the Supermutants, Celenian shipyards make ready to install the new quad-cannon designs along with antimatter containment units and auxiliary fusion plants.

Operational technology includes Capital Ship Hulls (-1 Combat Losses), Lyrean Elemental Implants (+1 Combat Roll), and Enhanced Microplating (+1 Combat Roll). Returning to avenge the former Consul's defeat, the repaired and refitted Harbinger and Presage engage the supermutant defense force in no-frills, by-the-book naval combat. This time, no expense is spared for ammunition and the fighters are unleashed.

    Spoiler: Defunct
    Show
The latest in mega-engineering and naval dominance is unveiled as the Office of the Consul releases what is essentially a theatrical trailer for the Republic's newest warship. Measuring precisely 1,000 meters from bow to stern, the 9 megatonne Bastion-Class Dreadnought is visually little more than an up-scaled (if proportionally narrower) version of the Republic's mainstay cruiser. As if one cruiser didn't already carry enough supplies and firepower to fling a civilization back to the stone age, the dreadnought essentially has two of everything -- double the cannons, double the fighter complement, double the ground equipment. The only major departure from other Celenian capital ships is the addition of a single ventral railgun, capable of accelerating a 200 kilogram tungsten-tipped slug to an unspecified velocity expressed as an appreciable fraction of the speed of light. Nicknamed the Vajra, the cannon's ostensible purpose is deliver the energy of a nuclear device without the radioactive fallout. Although little of the projectile would reach the ground intact, impact with the atmosphere is sufficient to incinerate a target and crush everything else within 10 kilometers via shock wave. As for ship to ship combat, a direct hit from the weapon would be considered "instantaneous catastrophic failure" to any non-Celenian vessel. Alternative compound flechette ammunition is also included to essentially shotgun formations of lighter ships. "If I wanted to kill a god, this is what I'd shoot it with," said Fleet Admiral Khatri in an interview. It is unclear if she meant the Kamasati specifically, but the legendary ace did later grant that she would personally test the weapon on 2-meter targets once the dreadnought was operational.

    Actions

    2. [Diplomacy] Attend Event, Get Tech

    4. [Diplomacy] help build that sun thing 5/5
    5. [Diplomacy 5] Create Embassy with the Federated Churches of Origin's End Securing an alternate source of GLD implants is vital for Sunbream Sovereignty. Thus, the Confederacy sells an enormous quantity of Vapor Misplacement guns to commission the construction of a floating station built to accommodate a wide variety of ships on the surface of the Spacific. Yes, it is really encrypted. Yes, it is possible to decode/solve; I put these out specifically with the HOPE that people will solve it. If you plug the text into this tool and figure out the password, the knowledge is yours. The password will be 0-5 characters, and are directly related to the game (participants, events, etc) - someone with a keen eye or logical guessing can reveal everything. If you figure it out, hit me up and we can talk about it more.
    • Media sources within the Tezh Consensus, those staffed by the more nosy and brash of the races now part of the unified worlds, report on a new stealth frame intended for siege warfare being successfully field tested. Most wave it away as fantastical nonsense, as the Tezh are notoriously generous with data and news even while they maintain clear lines about sharable vs classified information. Besides, a frame the size of a moon is silly; the amount of energy needed to get it anywhere would be beyond ridiculous, and that's before you even consider that the Tezh have no dock to construct a frame that large and the Consensus' financial records - even including redacted military spending ones - don't provide for a project of that scale to fly under the radar. The Governing, Economic, and Military Councils of the Consensus - for their part - merely ignore the prattling of the rumor mongers and do not give it the dignity of any response whatsoever.

The Federated Churches of Origin's End
    God-Speaker Androgynous-Delicate-Festival Allchurch Branches-Worn-By-Water
    Round 10 - Galactic Dates 217518.0.0.81 - 217520.0.0.80

    Actions:
    1. [Military]Secure Sanctum with Sorren Caxton Elien (Mil 7) and one Unit
Preserving the people of Sanctum, devout Church members sadly out of reach for so long, is high on the priority list for the Federated Churches. The Iteans were...concerning. While previously their predations and corruptions of Church doctrine were limited to the lands of governments that had sworn to uphold Itean principles, and thus considered acceptable and understandable, if unfortunate, the systems of Sanctum were considered especially holy to the Church, given the revelations granted by Guardian and the - admittedly limited - cross-analysis of technology in Sanctum and that found on Rhosh.

    2. [Diplomacy]Press Claim on W21 2/2
Finally, the Flockin become full members of the Federated Churches. Their integration, though having met with tide-bumps along the way, should finish up smoothly. Their Sun Cult may take longer to become an accepted part of the Church, but transitioning the government to a proper theocratic representative democracy will take more than a breath's length. In any case, though the defensive fleets of the Flockin have been stepped down to help with the transition into a more open economy with reduced military spending - not to mention compensating for the cost of installing Gravity Latch Drives - the remaining forces join the Federated Churches' other fleets proudly.

    3. [Diplomacy]Attend Dragon's Gauntlet Event
On the world of Oǎm, things are beginning to quiet down. Though many concerns vie for their attention, the Churches still manage to pull themselves away enough to ensure that the locals are able to participate in government smoothly, and maintain local autonomy. The taxes might be a touch higher, but then, the educational facilities and engineering expertise is a touch better too.
Interstellar concerns apparently take priorities over local dilemmas. The Convocation and all those represented by it appear to stand at a precipice, and the Church remains confident in their ability to make up for such delays to locals in the future. The coming months could prove decisive, and maintaining positive relations with supportive foreign powers is vital to the security, prosperity, and spiritual health of Federation citizens. And funds are, unfortunately, limited...
      Spoiler: Subactions
      Show
Accept gift of Unit and Enhanced Microplating Technology from Duenem

    4. [Philosophy]Convert X14 LC from The Nine Lights to Church of Rust
Some legitimate concern regarding both the cohesion of Church membership on an interstellar level, as well as it's prominence in the galaxy, has been expressed, given recent events. In light of these concerns, the Convocation readily authorizes several ships, some staffed in part by Duenem guests, visitors, or theologians, to relieve their urge to explore and spread their newly learned gospel in Ramanooan space. It is hoped that any enlightenment they are able to impart might help the folk of that planet make better lives, and see the true value and purpose in the blessed work they do - scouring ruins. And, perhaps overly optimistically, even improve living conditions.
Mshrs, the Most Patient, has presented an analysis to the God-Speaker, and Damnos. Funds are reallocated, ships redirected, and negotiations begun with certain prominent individuals with connections in Celestia Corp. Innovation is at the heart of creation, and the ability to communicate effectively with collaborators similarly important. And, of course, there is the fascinating subject of Zier's guardians to discuss...

    5. [Military]Recruitment
Further expansion of the Federated Church's Stellar Forces are underway - this time, the fleet previously known simply as Vigilance is being expanded, and split up into two new forces in the process. A pair of heavy frigates (a term used lightly, given the wildly varying size and force projection commonly associated with Rhoshan vessels) have become the core of Unexpected Silence, along with escorts, while the majority of the smaller ships are overhauled, refitted, and made into a new reefbreaker-pack: Meticulous Zeal.

    The Gelean Empire
Leader: Xavier Bonaparte, Aeternal Emperor of The Gelean Empire and its Protectorates

    News and Rumors
    - The fighting in J10 was fierce and the final blow of the enemy commander was staggering. Though the flagship and the Commander aboard it survived, the mercenary fleets backing her were devastated and unlikely to recover. Many of the remaining Sorcerer units returned to the Palace to serve in the Emperor's new royal guard instead.

    - Incensed by the lack of action by the other signatories of the Cacola Conference Treaty, and in particular the Kamasati's complete silence on what he felt should have been a clear-cut issue, the Emperor declares the treaty to be "basically alien toilet paper, apparently", and publicly tears a printout of it in half. This of course precedes the announcement of a military campaign into increasingly lawless Kamasati space, seeking to 'liberate' their entire western border in the name of the Empire. Some better-informed and skeptical citizens openly question how a trade dispute with the Kombuch turned into open war with the Kamasati, calling the action a blatant land grab. Some more sober voices admit this isn't fundamentally different from the invasions of Hexglyph or the Allied Nations, and express a fear that constant warmongering and rapid military expansion will ultimately bring untold suffering. Nevertheless, the Emperor remains surprisingly popular, his string of military victories and rhetoric regarding strength in the face of the apocalyptic threat posed by the Same lending his actions a degree of legitimacy even when they don't quite make sense.

    - Energy Conversion Weapons are a class of newly-developed Technologies reverse-engineered from recovered weaponry used by the Same, courtesy of the Auroran Ideals Corporation on behalf of the Gelean Empire. The weapons systems, at their most fundamental, make use of high-energy laser pulses encoded with quantum 'markers' that entangle solid targets with an exotic source material such as Screeching Crystals or Antimatter, and induce catastrophic entropic degradation in the source material using the Forthwith Effect. Entangled materials proceed to undergo the same entropic degradation, unwound from matter into an explosive release of energy. Relatively small amounts of source material are typically used in a single shot, and the energy released locally can relatively easily be contained and funneled into the ship's available resources.

    - In a great display of irony, while the Emperor is off beginning the conquest of Kamasati Space, Elizabeth takes the opportunity to reach out to the Kombuch, reestablishing diplomatic contact with representatives through Ambassador Unity-in-Melancholy. After admitting that this whole thing was a little stupid anyway and commending Disco Webcap for the decision to supply the Core Patrol Corps with the bulk of its new fleets, Elizabeth asks for an apology and an assurance of future trade security, while offering to share in prosperity once more. She also suggests scrapping the existing Cacola Conference Treaty, citing the political collapse of the Kamasati and the knowing containment breach by UPT as reasons to establish a new treaty ensuring protections for the Kombuch, Gelean Empire, Watchers, and vassals thereof.

    - Both the Syndrome and the Conclave of the Black Sun are politically chastised for their now well-publicized fabrication of claims. The Emperor accidentally leaves his mic on backstage as he laughs about "how goddamned dumb it is to lie about being a rightful king or whatever instead of just pointing a few guns and proving it. I mean, how dumb do you have to be to buy a story like that?"

    - The Gelean Government joins with the Wardens of World's End in condemning UPT's knowing, deliberate containment breach - though words are hedged to avoid directly condemning an attack on the Sisterhood, perhaps with some awareness of the irony, even if the Empire condemns that particular act of Parliament. Nevertheless, due consideration is given to the prospect of ransoming Kamasati Prisoners of War to distant but friendly territory, should they be captured alive.

    Imperial Decrees

[Mil] Conquer M7 with 2 units under Emperor Xavier Bonaparte (Mil 9, tech +2, using Gelean Goodnight Kiss, total bonus +13) - Taking the main thrust of the invasion for himself, the Emperor leads the Gelean First Fleet - backed by his Loyal Contrapsions, devised for this very war - into the war-torn ruins of the short-lived Whaler Union, where no less than six Prators and the High Dreamer had unleashed their full might upon all who dared question their Godhood less than a year prior. This was the place where the Emperor's promise to liberate was not totally spurious, though whether the Whalers were convinced of that remained to be seen.

[Mil] Conquer M5 with 2 units under Commander Fiona Aeternus (Mil 10, tech +2, using Gelean Goodnight Kiss, total bonus +14) - The culturally and economically important Mobius System was the target deemed to be of secondmost priority, with the Emperor's right hand herself given command of the still-shiny Second Fleet and a cadre of Hopeful Auxiliaries to seize Orbital Superiority and bombard Mount Opaiz, before landing troops to engage in urban suppression. Though used to lives of indolence, the 'sonics' are also understood to pose a significant potential threat if roused and Commander Fiona's expanded mind is considered ideal to counter improbably fast responses before they occur.

[Dip] Establish a Claim on N4 [Roll 13, TN 12] - Taking a break from his regularly-scheduled conquest of the Whalers' Union, the Emperor flies out mid-campaign to go visit the mysterious Raja whose Platinum Ogres dealt the Kamasati their most disastrous defeat of yesteryear. A polite man in spite of his apparent talent for war, he was quick to offer his esteemed guest any of his assorted beverages and offered to share the daze-gas pipe with him as well. Naturally, the Emperor indulged heartily and perhaps encouraged by his guest's lackadaisical attitude, the Raja indulged himself as well. Soon they went on a merry romp about the palace, drunkenly testing their skill at arms against one another with a contest of (thankfully dull) blades and three long matches of Tekteeko. After trading a few more rounds and consuming additional intoxicants, the pair went to the dungeons and drunkenly threw peanuts at the emaciated form of Prator Qain, still wasting away guarded by a quartet of Platinum Ogres. All good things must come to an end, though, and the Emperor parted company with the Raja the next day, nursing a hangover and the belated realization that perhaps wild partying was not the best way to conduct diplomacy. Still, somehow he came out of this having made a friend.

[Dip] Inquest Region M11 [Roll 12, TN 12] - A novel approach to exploring regions with the Same is proposed: Making use of a few Class 3 Espers to guess security keys with clairvoyance and protocol droid assistance with the mathematics and rapid inputs, a team manages to spoof a presence in the region occupied by Version 0.25, using false tags to appear to be a 0.25 drone. From there, despite a few close calls, it's relatively simple to download a mapping update, though the connection is quickly broken for security reasons.

    Courtly Schemes

[Dip] Stabilize J10 [Roll 20, TN 12] - For all the Allied Nations' fears and preparations against alien invasion, the greatest irony is perhaps that their invasion and defeat came not at the hands of some unknowable alien menace but at the hands of fellow Humans, separated across the vast gulf of space. With the Emperor's eyes turned sharply to the east, it fell to Elizabeth, who had since gone from a position as an Advisor to a sort of Vizier, to manage Western affairs for the time being. Whatever her faults, Elizabeth was a speaker of honeyed words and - technically - a Master of Fire; when she spoke, people listened. In an address to the Allied Nations Concourse, she spoke of the tragedy and irony that both first and second contact had gone as they had, and pledged a new beginning for both peoples; an armistice and a promise that the Allied Nations need never again fear the unknown. She was escorted offstage by a dazzling green-eyed aide, and moved by her words, the Allied Nations filed for full status as a Gelean Protectorate within a year.

[Dip] Increase Reputation with the Core Patrol Corps (0->1) [Roll 12, TN 10] - Though he had originally hoped to lead the northernmost front in the Campaign against the Kamasati, the region was deemed indefensible without supply lines through the Mobius system but nevertheless too much of a risk to seize at present. Commander Talon Kaarde was instead held on desk duty managing standard military training drills for the Ascendancy. However, with Core Patrol Corps assets flowing into the Gelean Capital, the commander saw an opportunity to network, to demonstrate Faivi might and discipline, and to spread word that neither the Ascendancy nor their Gelean allies were to be trifled with. Together, they would destroy the cancer infesting the core.

    Actions
    • [Military] Project Brightlight in Dregisles: (1/5) Build Superstructure - In conjunction with Core Containment Incorporated, the Combine begins working on a giant tube-like space station like structure in Dregisles. At the moment it remains empty and powered by a temporary generator. Though the exact details of its construction are still shrouded in mystery, rumors and speculation on UwU points to the myriad amount and sizes of thrusters peppering the surface of the structure that seems somewhat overkill in attitude control for a space station.
    • [Military] Project Brightlight in Dregisles: (2/5) Add high energy military grade generator and GLD systems. - A massive Brightglow hyper-fusion reactor is installed on site, far larger and powerful than those found in other Grymlan space stations along with several bays for Zap-charger capacitor banks for further energy storage. Within the structure are a series of special modified GLD drives utilizing technology from the inspiration series of experiments are installed, though for what reason seems largely up to speculation.
    • [Philosophy] Probe O31 (2d6+7): [14] - Tenta-Probe Mk.69 with an automatic defenestration array and chrome plates is sent into the heart of ANE space. Though the Combine is leery of the terrorists presence there, the need for information supercedes this fear.
    • [Philosophy] Convert M31 (2d6+7): [16] - With the discovery of the spores of M31 as being a sentient hivemind Flash irritates Gruff Arclight by asking if OwO hubs could be made compatible with it as an effort to reach out to it. Gruff grudgingly agrees but still grumbles about having to overhaul access protocols.
    • [Diplomacy] (Special Action 5) Establish Embassy with Duenem. - With the Duenem being one of two robotic like star-powers in Axiom, Flash moves to establish a from of embassy with them, not only to ease trade between the star-powers, but also so that Techies might have access to an alternate viewpoint in understanding OwO.

    News and Rumors
    • Flash has been talking with Leelee Buildfast over the future of Core Containment Incorporated with its new home in Dregisles being far removed from the core, he suggested that they could broaden their efforts to be less focused on the Same and more broadly experimenting with prototype and speculative technologies.
    • Sona Digibeat, a Grymlan Techie who runs a music vlog on UwU, rocketed in popularity after she published two songs, "We sing-sing too," remixed radiation recordings from the stars of the Garden of Leira and "Sense-Feel me" which induces a degree of synesthesia with the right sound equipment. Her most recent vlog involved some secret project she was working on, but needed more time for things to come together.
    • Spoiler: Combine Corporations
      Show

      Corporations of the Combine

The government of the Grymlan Combine consists of several corporations that both coordinate with, and against, each other in deciding how the efforts of the Grymlan people are applied. The Corporations are patrons and financial backers to research, production, and distribution groups typically within a certain field of Grymlan life and their internal structure represents the same general structure of the Combine at large.

As such, Leadership among the Grymlans is based on election, with canidates chosen both on their stance with the indivdual corperation and the needs of the Grymlan people as a whole. Unsurprisingly, corruption is not uncommon among Grymlans leaders. Corruption is expected by the general populace as long as it has reasonable limits. Leaders are expected to have their own personal projects they're working on as long as they meet the needs of the Grymlan people. Given the inquisitive nature of Grymlans as a whole, an the high profile nature of the leadership, Grymlan politicians tend to have Cat and Mouse games between themselves that the populace tends to keep abreast of as a form of entertainment. Should such a leader be deemed insufficent, whether by incompetence, corruption, or changing needs of the people, they can be voted out of their position by the Corporations under them (though the state in which they are voted out might dictate the terms of their severance).

      Some Corporations of the Combine.
      • Foodstuff Solutions: Headed by Abrigal Dirtpaw, Foodstuff Solutions represents many agricultural interests in the Combine. Their farms provide food to feed the Grymlan people as well as providing other materials to the other Corporations. Their labs work to improve existing crops while at the same time they are always on the look out for new potential products to grow and experiment with.
      • Max Zappyzap Projections: Lead by Dhaka Sparkthrower, Max Zappyzap Projections is the closest thing the Grymlans have to a security Corporation. In prior years they were an arms manufacturer who designed energy casters for Grymlan ships to protect them against space debris. They also did research into high energy release weapons that largely went unused (I mean of course you gotta set one off just to make sure it works, we didn't need that asteroid anyways) but did result in research with Arclight Power that provided the primary fission reactors that provide power to the Grymlan's cities and ships. Nowadays they serve as one of the military minded corporations expanding the Grymlan's knowledge of tactics and equipment as they are exposed to new races.
      • Arclight Power: Lead by Dayton Voltzap, Arclight Power serves the Grymlan's ever-growing need for power. They are the formost researchers in high energy fields and often looking for new elements or ways to use them alongside Max Zappyzap Projections.
      • Fluffyshine Grooming: Headed by Celise Dyedye, Fluffyshine Grooming provides cosmetics and grooming supplies to the Grymlans. Proper grooming, especially of their tails, is considered a necessity by the Grymlan populace. In addition Grymlans enjoy expressing themselves in a wide array of colors both in clothing and hair dye. Fluffyshine Grooming is the leader in what is new and chic by melding technology with fashion.
      • Farseeker Enterprise: Lead by Trevan Longhaul, Farseeker Enterprise focuses not only on exploratory sensors and shipping, but they also serve the Grymlan Combine with transporting goods between population centers. While they were not the designers of the Darkship concept, they have been diligently improving it, focusing on the ships abilities to operate on long haul deployments and improving on thruster designs.
      • Infrastructure Craftmakers: Lead by Bruk Dynacraft, Infrastructure Craftmakers maintains the infrastructure of Grymlan life whether it be the heat resistant domes of Wratheye or the various space stations orbiting the Cloudysea expanse. They support endeavors to build faster, cheaper, and more adaptable among hostile environments.
      • Truthytruth Communications: Lead by Leelee Sweettounge, Truthytruth Communications deals with data and communications between the Grymlan people and works alongside OwO, and they also host many news and entertainment channels.
      • Feelgood Incorporated: Lead by Vera Tailsnug, Feelgood Incorperated serves the healthcare needs of the Grymlans. The work to constantly push the boundaries of medicine and scientific enhancement.
      • Fringe Science Go!: Headed by Wexel Weirdlight, Fringe Sceince Go! explores theoretical scientific fields such as magic and psionics. With the introduction of aliens with these abilities they have seen a resurgence as of late.
      • Core Containment Incorporated: A recent addition to the Combine, CCI acts as a military corporation specializing in theoretical and prototype designs created from the incorporation, and abuse of, alien tech. Led by Leelee Buildfast.

    • Darkship Fleet Novabloom: To replace Darkship Shinystar, Grymlan engineers work on an updated Darkship Design that incorperates a greater number of smaller ships, each heavily armed with Deathbloom missile launchers and enhanced engines. Where previous iterations of darkship fleets focused on a slow, steady, approach to combat, Darkship Fleet NovaBloom represents the application of prototype explosive tech and changing ideas on approaches to naval doctrines.
    • Darkship Fleet Darks-Seer: Drawing upon the newly inducted Lopurna, Darkship Fleet Dark-Seer has several cruiser class ships created in a melding of Grymlan and Lopurna designs supported by Grymlan Zippyzap fighter craft. The The cruisers have several rapid fire zapcaster turrets dedicated to point defense and fighter denial systems, there are several crystaline emitter strips that run the lengths of the ship allowing the Lopurna crew to lash out with deadly psionic energy lances in lieu of the heavy zap cannons found on other Grymlan based warships.
    • Aetherweave Assault Corps: Those Lopurna trained to act as soldiers train their psionic abilities to enhance their physical capabilities, moving with preternatural grace, strength, and precision. As situations call for it, small communions can be levied to increase their capabilities such as against hardened targets or evading detection.

    Round 10
    The Guild Enterprises of Nyx
    Vassal to the Gelean Empire

    Nyx (Sector C23)
    Domino Ophelo, Lord of Coin

    Actions
    1. [Military 10] Introduce Platinum Elite Battlefield Health Services! Effect: +2 Leader Loss rolls when fighting a battle with your Ruler. Requires: 9-Armed Surgeons. Slot: Medicine, Mad Science, and Blessings - While he had managed to avoid serious injury in the seizure of Lot 5 and at the bloodbath that the Pan-Galactic Auction had turned into Lord Domino had faced his mortality and found it displeasing. The richest being in all of Axiom, or even indeed the most powerful and important of any space hungry power, should be treated to the utmost medical care available in the galaxy especially when they risked their lives for fortune or nation or what have you. The elite level of medical professionals available in Mier Formica held territory had become a lasting boom within the Nyxian economy as increasing availability and sophistication of medical science enriches and lengthens lives, especially among those with the means to fund cutting edge techniques and technologies. Swiftly in Nyx, and records are kept for replication by other species, the medical center for leadership is transformed into a state of the art constantly upgrading and evolving laboratory of the finest caliber. Only the best was fit for the rich noble few chosen to lead their people to greater and greater glories in righteous battle against a wicked enemy or what have you.
    2. [Military] Invade E25 with 2 Units under Lord Domino (10) using War Beasts (Space Whales) & HEAT Engines (Voidstone) (+2) - Exploiting the clause in their trade deal with the Rothuun Lord Domino as one of his final acts takes half of the Nyxian mercenary forces through Lot 5 into the sector responsible for production of the highly popular Pocket Factories which had swept Nyx in previous years. The popularity of these devices suggested a merger between corporate interests was desirable to the Guilds and with the recent massive resource influx brought on by the sale of Lot 5 the desire to conduct further intergalactic real estate deals is driving colonialist sentiments among the Nyxians.
    3. [Military] Invade C27 with 2 Units under Merchant Prince Mahjong (5) using War Beasts (Space Whales) & HEAT Engines (Voidstone) (+2) - With a path opened up to the Dilithium rich defense poor sector marked C27 on current star charts the other half of the Nyxian mercenary fleet is dispatched under an enterprising Merchant Prince to secure the region in the name of the Guild...at least for however long they intended to hold onto it. The risk of loss to the void prompts a greater investment of troops than was strictly desired but the economic benefits of another region to sell or exploit were considered to outweigh the risks associated with the risk of lost lives. If the sale of one matrix of star systems could earn the Guild the great debt and technological boons acquired from the Rothuun what could more do?
    4. [Military] Raise 1 Unit of Bluenose Marchers - Lyraens and _Lot_5_natives_ have once more fallen under the sway of the blue powder to such an extent that elite warriors can be drilled in alongside the dependence on the high inducing processed plant matter. The proud Bluenose Marchers of the Cyreilean Expanse may have been turned into Zombuch drones by the vile mushrooms but their legacy lived on in the reborn society of Lot 5. Nyxian interests represented by Lyraen drug lords provide a mercenary force composed of their dependent drug-loyal armies to serve the Guild.
    5. [Economy] Buyout Kamasati (N6) Ascendant Seeds TP2 9 - With Emperor Bonaparte tearing up the Cacola Conference treaty the Guilds are freed from any obligations they may (or legally may not) have been subject to as vassals to a signatory. With the implosion of Kamasati political structures markets were depressed and the wealth of Nyx went remarkably far. Recent technological innovations by the self proclaimed gods relied on their unusual Ascendant Seeds and it was expected they would increase in value with the spread of this technology, something that could happen easily in the wake of their vulnerable position.
Unfortunately it seemed the Kamasati were preoccupied with both their self proclaimed importance as gods as well as the crumbling political/psionic situation surrounding them in the Awoken to take advantage of Nyxian savings. The Pantheon's displeasure for doing business with the Nyxians shone through in spite of the civil strife and once more the Nyxians thanked the Emperor for seizing the Mobius system and its neighbor securing Nyxian interests in the regions.
    6. [Economy] Buyout H22 Celenian Alloys TP2 14 - A desire to utilize Microplating and perhaps, in time, to construct their own Celenian style super cruiser for use or sale drives investment into the recently claimed sector H22. The Droccen were a popular state in their neck of the woods as Nyx understood things and they were looking forward to doing business with the Imperium. Empress Sai is commended by some gossipy columns in Nyx news that she managed to gain her own personal access to the very same alloys utilized by the Celenians whose current Consul had purportedly attempted to win her hand with promises of super cruisers made of such an alloy. This appears to be an intended flattery to distract from the fact the Nyxians were buying up this alloy out from under the Droccen.

    Non-Actions
    1. Endorse OwO Buyout of Nyx (K5) Voidstone TP3
    2. Assure the Lopurna their concerns were being heard. Plans to construct a habitat for the displaced refugees are in the works to break ground in the next couple of years.
    3. Reluctantly pay the ANE off with M23 Sorcerers TP 2, C17 9-Armed Surgeons TP1, and L8 Kill Bots TP 2. There was no desire to have Eradicator interference in the real estate schemes being concocted along the frontier resulting in the reluctant payment of the demanded ransom. A debt was a debt and while this cost seemed egregiously high the Nyx had simply learned that this particular galactic sect of nihilist space pirates weren't worthy business partners.

    UPT Embassy

    • The time it seems has come for Lord Domino's retirement from the position of Lord of Coin. The recent shoot out on Zara including the duel with SPACE KING Jacques over what some xeno sympathetic news outlets are calling a "slave auction" has damaged the elder Nyxian's galactic reputation. While the lord tries to struggle against this narrative, emphasizing the Jesska's clear intent to auction off Korima's ransom as a valuable intellectual property and not her labor or possession avoiding the strictest definition of slavery, it was a losing PR battle. His elder son Uno, inheritor to his father's rich legacy who had taken a small loan of a million Guild credits and founded multiple successful enterprises during Nyxian led buyouts across the nearby sectors, steps up to the difficult challenge promising to condemn further apparent endorsements of slavery among the Maturated. This promise does not capture the fate of non-Maturated races or planets as exemplified by the young lord's militant stance on nearby space wishing to possess and sell it on the intergalactic real estate market.
    • There were military tacticians who questioned not only the Nyxian reliance on mercenaries but also their proclivity for fielding heavily infantry based armies. Surely it was better to, as the Celenians or even Geleans did, and field great fleets of warships than send in troops to fight more or less face to face? Nyxian prevailing thought disagreed on two points. Point one, a ship, especially a large capital ship like those fielded by the honorable Celenian Republic, were an investment to construct and a constant expenditure to maintain and crew. An army of mercenaries may have been a bit expensive in the short term but when they were all slaughtered by supermutants and freaks of space their contracts were effectively terminated ending further expenditures and requiring only a modest rather than significant reinvestment. Point two, the aforementioned supermutants and space freaks roaming around within Axiom. So many worlds were primitive technologically but so terrible in some yet unimagined fashion an expensive fleet of ships to maintain and crew were at risk of loss to nothing dignifying the dispatch of such a fine piece of engineering. Dump mercenary alien grunts on problem planets until the problems go away, save the years of academy trained spacefarers for more important duties than subduing some GLD-less backwater world that just happens to host some demonic donkey race giving your colonists trouble.

    Rothuun Minotaurs
    (Round 10: AR 2169- AR 21)
    Urthuun Kzarna Harpooner

    Actions
[Military] Invade region Q15 with 5 units led by Urthuun Kzarna Harpooner (+10 leadership, +5 units, +1 Microplating, +1 HEAT Engines, +1 War Beasts = +18 total): The defeated Same have been pushed back from the newly discovered Taurina II, into a region to the galactic north. The entirety of the Rothuun army descends upon the remainder of the Same, with express orders to capture the leader alive if possible. No other prisoners shall be taken.
[Diplomacy] Finish Pressing Claim on Q21: Dahlia Jones, the leader of the Niconian Plantation Masters, has finally caved to the pressure of the Rothuun "ambassadors". She resigns her position and surrenders control of the system to the Rothuun Galactic Holdings. Autha Snapneck is hereby promoted to the position of Regional Governor of Niconia and is put in charge of instating Rothuun tradition and culture into the region.

[Diplomacy 10] Declare the Rothuun a Galactic Power: Rothuun Galactic Holdings (RGH)
[Military] Raise a unit: The Orissa Patrol, an elite unit of specially trained Ogatvezhiy, was formerly destroyed in battle with the Commandant's Miracle Men. Now that Baryshev is entirely under the sway of the Rothuun, it is deemed again safe to arm and train the Ogatvezhiy to serve in the military of their glorious minotaur overlords.

OOC: At the end of this round, Urthuun Kzarna Harpooner will be replaced. Her successor would have been chosen by the winner of the Battle for Thurtal (Virtash Splitskull) and the Grishal Rebellion (Zurtak Icehardened), however Zurtak was assassinated by An'Null's Eradicators and as such will be replaced in the contest of succession by Aneb Two-Gun. Other nations can provide support to any one of the candidates, via a non-action. Mechanical aid is not required, but will be looked upon extremely favorably (possibly up to +3 in exchange for a unit). The winner will be chosen by random dice roll with added bonuses based on their support. Currently, Virtash has +7 to his roll, and Aneb has +5. Choose wisely.

    The Candidates!!!

Aneb Two-Gun: The son of former Urthuun Thrikar Fleshgorger, Aneb is the current king of Thurtal. He is popular among traditionalist Rothuun and has a large army at his disposal. The newer, less aggressive generation of minotaurs, however, believes him to be “totally uncool” and “lacking chill”. Aneb’s policy is that of aggressive expansion, without regard for neighbors or for diplomacy. He is heavily opposed to the Eye of the Horizon, and promises to attack the Core head-on with the goal of exterminating the Same. He will respect the Nephret Pact, but only so long as it suits him. Aneb is a devout follower of the Cult of Blood but is unlikely to eliminate the Church of Iteus from Taurina I. Likely stat orientation: Mil/Dip or Phi.

Virtash Splitskull: The brother of former king of Thurtal Posekh Flatfoot, Virtash is a very different sort of Rothuun. He is a diplomat, a globalist, and is heavily interested in establishing good relationships with foreign powers and even with the Sisterhood of Silence. Due to these unorthodox policies, Virtash is not popular in Taurina I, but he has still managed to gather a significant force of supporters and is now challenging Aneb Two-Gun for control of Thurtal. Should Virtash become Urthuun, he will expand primarily via diplomatic means, and will not intrude into other nations’ sovereignty. He has pledged not to enter the core or to fight the Same at all, and will denounce or attack any whom attempt to do so, such as the Core Patrol Corps and the Eye of the Horizon. He will respect all alliances, attempt to forge as many new ones as possible, and will not change religions. Likely stat orientation: Dip/Mil.

    Sisterhood of Silence
    Spoiler
    Show

UPT is condemned, for what little weight it carried, when Svaatyr investigation reveals they were behind the attack on Shimmering Light monastery.

[Military] Continue the final crusade against the Same - Intending to fight the Same until her last breath the Mother Superior maneuvers the mobile headquarters into an assault on v0.21 whose large forces and weak tactical leadership could favor the Sisterhood attack with infliction of greater casualties upon this version. If a version were destroyed the others would surely swarm to fill the gap but it would be one less obstacle for the Maturated to overcome. (Mother Superior (Mil 8) leads remaining 3 Units into K13 to fight Same v0.21!)

    Core Patrol Corps
    Spoiler
    Show

[Diplomacy] Offer reputation for exploration of the Core - The Sisterhood’s choice to broadcast a snapshot of the Core was a valuable one but one that threatened to quickly become outdated without active eyes monitoring the Same. Core Patrol sought to have no secrets regarding the Core among Axiom’s defenders and innocent inhabitants and encourages any who are able to plumb the Core and reveal as much as possible to active monitoring. (Request: Explore a Core region. Reward: +1 Rep/Region. Expiration Date: Round 12)

[Military] Recon I17 with 3 Units 13 - Utilizing the data broadcast by the Sisterhood the CPC mounts an attack plan intended to force a confrontation with Same v0.01. According to the Sisterhood report the tactical AI was weak and one of the Patrolman Colonels was expected to be able to take on the challenge with a compliment of competent Patrolmen.

[Military] Recon N12 with 4 Units 15 - A similar military recon is planned and enacted on the opposite vigil border seeking to cow Same v0.13 with a glancing blow assuming no Core Patrol fleets were needed elsewhere by friends to the Patrol. The Kombuch Fanta class fighters are set to be put through their paces by this preliminary offensive strafe.

    Cosmic Couriers
    Spoiler
    Show

[Economy] Buyout U9 Aeolaax TP1 15 - With the Draax wars over and the system under Rocthurhi occupation prices on the oxygen mass producing plants of the Draax are on sale at an all time low!

[Economy] Buyout W13 Daytime Whiskey TP1 15 - While not every DDD establishment would be licensed for intoxicants at least one was planned to provide appropriate meal-associated “hard stuff.” The massive geological work done in some forgotten age to transform a planet into a distillery cannot be ignored so close to a Courier Relay and the industrious merchants set up a collection system at the end of the planetary distillation process line.

[Diplomacy] Ask Knights Vacio and Warden's of World's End for a Relay in Hollow (R12) - Courier Relay coverage was somewhat lackluster near the eastern Core border and the Knights were well positioned to amend this oversight. Given their recent vassalage to the heavily indebted Wardens the Knights are offered the opportunity to construct a Relay in the old Knight's capital whose completion would see two existing Favors owed by the Wardens considered paid off. (Request: KNV and/or WWE build a CmC Relay in R12. Reward: +2 Favors for WWE. Expiration Date: Round 12)

    An’Null’s Eradicators
    Spoiler
    Show

[Intrigue] Offer to Survey O33 for OwO - While their base in O31 remained blissfully shrouded from wider Axiom the assaults on two other Eradicator outposts sees increased activity around this sector. An envoy is sent to the nearby Grymlans offering the discrete surveillance services of the Eradicators into a nearby region. (Request: Permit ANE to Survey O33. Reward: +1 Favor owed from OwO to ANE. Expiration Date: Round 11)

[Diplomacy] Offer Nyx the opportunity to pay with money instead of flesh - The Nyx were incredibly wealthy, the past few years had proven that without the shadow of a doubt, but they were also indebted to the Eradicators for a fleet called in to aid the small corporate nation in fending off rival militant interests early in Lord Domino's reign. The favor owed for this is called in now as the Eradicators were weakened by multiple assaults on their outposts with the Eradicators seeking material wealth with which to rebuild. If the Guild was unwilling to cooperate there was always more punitive measures that could be taken... (Request: 3 TPs: Sorcerers, 9-Armed Surgeons, and Kill Bots given to ANE via a non-action. Reward: +1 Favors for NYX. Expiration Date: Round 10)

    Round 10 Actions
    The Ndoda
    Umkhonto Malyat Elunxwemeni

    Ruler Stats:
    Diplomacy - 4
    Military - 3
    Economy - 6
    Philosophy - 1
    Intrigue - 2

    Actions:

    1. Diplomacy - Stabilize F22 - Success!
After years of negotiations and military back-and-forth with the obstinate Caguns, the Ndoda are able to soothe tempers by respecting and restoring the damaged Cagun sacred regions and adding Cagun voices to the Council as with the Carides. With the moistness and humidity of Kraikr too much for most Ndoda to handle and an established governing system, the Cagun are brought into the conglomerate of Ndodan lands as a mostly self-governing system. The primary price to the Cagun has been to maintain stocks of Operatic Frogs for galactic trade.
    2. Military - Send 5 units under the leadership of Umkhonto Malyat to invade region D24.
To three systems in which life is sacred and freedom under suns protected, the reports of effective slaves so close to the Ndodan capital was an outrage, not in the least to the Cagun who had just won agreements with the Ndoda for independence and self-management. Umkhonto Malyat vows to rectify this injustice and prevent other far away systems from laying claim to lands uncomfortably close to home, no matter the cost.
    3. Economy - Buyout E19 TP1 (Fluffidium)- Fail
    4. Economy - Buyout E19 TP2 (Fluffidium)- Success

Neko Jr. begrudgingly allows the Ndoda control of the remaining clippings harvested by the scientists to trade or test as they wish. The Cats firmly believe this was not a concession, but a test to see what these lizards would do if given that amount of power.
    5. Economy - Buyout C15 TP3 (GMO Giga Shrimp)- Success
At long last, the Ndoda breathe a sigh of relief as shrimp are secured to act as hosts for the brain-eating slugs. Though the risk of attack was low, the Ndoda can relax as the agreement made for a non-aggressive pact are fulfilled.
    6. Economy - Expedition E23 - Fail
Bolstered by recent success and the formal declaration of the Ndodans as formidable merchants, a Nemikhomo expedition is sent out to explore an unexplored region just south of Kwizik. Those merchants seem to have gotten distracted by their bellies however, as they returned home empty handed but smelling strongly of peppers.

    News and Rumors:
Umkhonto Malyat has promised to continue the Ndodan Golden Age. Scientists are pressed hard at work to develop and perfect new weapons and equipment, and the training grounds have never been so full.

Past Umkhontos Ukiphosa and Shurik have taken command of the efforts on Kraikr and Wonderland, respectfully, using their diplomatic knowledge and influence to coordinate efforts and advance technologies in those systems. The addition of Cagun and Caridean representatives to the Council has greatly improved relations as conflicts are resolved quickly. Poh Bi, head of the Cagun representatives, has introduced mud wrestling to Kwizik, and leads the war hawks of the Council. Graham, head of the Caridean representatives, has established himself as a shrewd merchant after discovering the Fluffy Cats.

The inauguration of Umkhonto Malyat has brought to the forefront a scandal - a nest of eggs laid by a Talwoq female to the new Umkhonto. Elders of the tribes grumble of favoritism and impartiality, though the Talwoq have taken this chance to boast of a closer relationship to leadership.

    1. [Philosophy] Many neighboring systems remain outside the Church's sphere of influence; it is decided that this must be rectified, starting with the nearby sector of Sanctum. Hard to believe we’ve been a part of an intergalactic political scene for over a decade now. It has been a decade. Just between you and me, we’re not as young as we used to be!”

He chuckles. “Now. We take you live to the address that Lyrae herself is giving on the steps of her palace.”

In front of a cheering crowd, Lyrae stands before the whole of the Lyraen civilization. Those who couldn’t be there in person watch it live, anywhere from ten miles to ten million away. As she begins to speak, the noise of the crowd dies down. ““My children, my fellow Lyraens. Today is a great day! You have risen to the challenge. You have exceeded my expectations. You…” She pauses. “You, my children, have grown great indeed.” The crowd cheers.

“ Today is the day that we declare ourselves a real galactic power. A lot has happened, but we have persevered. However, we have made new allies, new friends, and new citizens. Therefore, we can no longer consider ourselves merely the Worlds of Lyrae. We have grown beyond that. From now on, we are The Lyraen Stellar Do-”

    1. [Diplomacy 5] Embassy with KBC - A select number of Union citizens have expressed interest in hosting Kombuch colonies and experiencing the union of minds offered by that experience. While much mainstream cultural thought quietly and not-so-quietly labeled these particular xenophiles to be lunatics the PolitBoro seizes upon this opportunity to highlight the Union’s breadth of alien acceptance. All were the One after all and the solidarity and unity of life and intelligence were virtues to be valued, not derided. A special diplomatic corps is formed from among these would-be xenocolonies and a select few more seasoned diplomats to journey to the worlds of the Kombuch Bureaucratic Collective and establish a formal diplomatic presence. Solidarity with our alien comrades!
    2. [Diplomacy] Stabilize T8 TN: 12 Roll: 12 - The Draax Attacks had been devastating for Huvile & Truffoplis especially as the Red Fleet was forced to retreat leaving the region to the ravaging of the scared-to-violence nomads thrust into the space between Union and Dawnstar by the Revolution. Efforts are made to reassure the populace that everything in the Union's power was being done to restore order and prepare preventative measures against similar incidents coming to pass in the future. Join the Red Fleet today!
    3. [Diplomacy] Press Claim on T4 TN: 12/18 Roll: 15 - While it was true there was a strong desire to absorb the Mindcasters as a font for psionic Union agents this approach had failed to see the personhood of the small population instead viewing them as a resource to serve other citizens. Apologies are made and serious blueprints are laid out to provide this statistically insignificantly small population with the real means of political power and control over production befitting their existence as a collective of common individuals in Union. Hopefully this more humane political approach would prove more appealing to the powerful minds of the region.
    4. [Diplomacy] Press Claim on U5 2/2 - While there were a number of economic and militarist policies within the region that fostered reactionary pushback by and large the massive size and shared approach towards the One allows the Union to begin integrating sector U5 as a new satellite republic. Further scientific inquests into the nature of Krackle Seeds are approved as the grand marketplace is transformed rapidly into a common meeting ground for economic planning and political discussion.
    5. [Intrigue] Contribute to 'Investigate Efficiency Ground' Project - Wishing to aid the Rocthurhi-headed Uplift Chorus/Star League joint venture looking into the origins and goals of the mysterious Efficiency Ground a select group of Union's topmost scientists and researchers are spared to lend their expertise to the investigation. Efficiency Ground was widely held as responsible for the Revolution which had unleashed the devastating Drax Attacks upon the Union, Rocthurhi, and Dawnstar while simultaneously ripping apart the carefully orchestrated peace in the northeast. The desire to find and control or end further Revolutions was strongly held within many Union factions.

    • The collapse of the Kamasati and vulture-like attacks by the Geleans, and it was suspected the Alysians would follow suit, are lightly condemned within the halls of Union leadership but no official condemnation appears. The recent economic kerfuffle with the Alysians had led to the Assembly holding the cord of energy needed to power the all important Union MMs. Upsetting the Alysians further was deemed unwise in the present moment although their callous attitudes towards political sovereignty, sponsoring Eradicator terrorists, and interfering in the internal governance of rival powers had the Union deeply unnerved. The Geleans were naturally expected to act like war mongering expansionists but they are saved from condemnation by the reality that to condemn them and not the Alysians should they act in a similar manner would make the Union appear far weaker in the eyes of the galaxy. If the Union was wrong and the Alysians did not act against the Kamasati a resolution to condemn the Geleans was ready but few expected the issue to actually manifest.
    • Voices within the PolitBoro have suggested the Kombuch were ripe for conversion with the collapse of the Kamasati as a nearby rival ideology. Tezh and Rocthurhi teachers are encouraged to visit the mushroom people and bring knowledge of the One to these fascinating aliens. Others suggest it was better to let Kombuch xenocolonists continue to be funneled off for diplomatic duty and not invite further interactions to keep "pure" Union citizens free from living in symbiotic or parasitic organic relationships.
    • Vassalage of the Knights Vacio to the Wardens of World's End and conversion to the Accords registers in opinion columns and serious news articles but the larger than life presence of SPACE KING had some time ago diminished the seriousness with which the Knights were taken in spite of their vast holdings and galactic influence. With the presence of the Same as common knowledge now coming to drive galactic action against the metallic hordes the Wardens appeared well positioned to lead the charge with the Umbral Augury in their capital and now half the Core border dancing to the beat of their ideological drum. The Warden's interest in the Knights alongside the Alysians draws a more politically clear eyed gaze towards the southwestern border.

    Marshal Galen, disciple of Aoife
    Round 10

    Actions:
    1. [Diplomacy 10]Become a Great Kingdom
Peace on Bespéartha lasts for a few years. In Spring 217516, the Djinye witness a series of several shocking events. First, the Meritocracy violates the treaty, having rebuilt their military using the resources in their rich home island of Caba. They launch attacks in all directions, against Minera, Plantera, the Djinye Liberation Movement, the Third Empire and Pyre's army, even against their erstwhile allies and neutral countries. They would be repelled soon; but the lost 3rd Scout Fleet returns from Ciretak (W3), bringing the fearsome Immortals as reinforcements. Despite the fact that they could use the help, Queen Lin Seed and King Zirkon refused to meet with the rebel leaders - it would not be appropriate for royals to speak to terrorists as equals. It would be decidedly un-Realtaist. The rebel leaders were just as uninterested in meeting. The Third Empire's noble goals could not be compromised by cooperating with barbarians. DLM did not respect any authorities. Pyre refused to even countenance defending someone other than her Genmod people from the underground. The surface dwellers always spurned them, so there was no love lost between them and the Genmod.

As the war drags into the third week, all available resources on the planet finally mobilized and pointed at the hated enemies, some leaders begin to publicly suggest that they would not be completely averse to deploying weapons of mass destruction to end it once and for all. Then, Meritocracy generals inexplicably surrender. When the surprised victors arrive at the capital to sign yet another fragile peace treaty, they are told that Marshal Galen has been found dead one morning, apparently shot many times from by an expert gunman from the front at very close range, however, there were no signs of a struggle (or a gunfight - the Marshal had a handgun as well, yet it was still in its holster). Queen Lin asked to meet Legate Aoife instead. "We all knew she was the power behind the throne at any rate..." Unfortunately, that wasn't possible either. Aoife was found dead on that day as well, having hanged herself in the greatest temple of the Divine Brother on the island. It was an unthinkable act of desecration and abandonment of social duties. The officer handling this meeting is shaking in his boots when he hands over the last note from the Legate, written in Airian:

      <The God of Knowledge is a devil!>

"NONSENSE!" King Zirkon slams the table. "This looks very much like some complicated trick. She'd never blaspheme. Are you holding her captive?" The unfortunate officer stutters, trying to explain that this is really, really the truth, even he wouldn't believe it himself in a million years. But before he can spit out something coherent, the supposedly locked and guarded doors of the meeting room swing open, and a voice sounding like every key on a piano pressed at once booms out: "You are not completely incorrect, King of Minera. That which transpired could be called an elaborate ruse. However, general Cian here is blameless. Of those involved, only Aoife Aoi ever came close to figuring it out."

All Djinye present turn their heads as one. They see a slender man in a simple robe embroidered densely with characters, his dress and skin shimmering with all shades of blue, but having no other color. He clashes with his surroundings hard; he is surrounded by a web of flickering rays of light that seem to originate and end nowhere in particular, and his feet do not quite touch the ground, even if he pretended to walk in. In fact, it looks as if he can choose what forces will affect him, if any. The flower tucked behind his ear blooms every minute or so, grows fruit, withers, sprouts from the seed in the fruit, and blooms again, perpetually.

"Well..." He impatiently snaps the fingers of his left hand as the Djinye all quickly stop staring and start chewing on pencils, drumming their fingers, adjusting their shirt or anything else to show that they aren't nearly as nonplussed as everyone else in the room and are taking the situation in stride. "To explain the situation: Aoife did not die today. Nor is she alive. None of you knew her before she became my Legate, so you do not know that she was a colonel in the Caban revolutionary army almost a century ago. She was one of the most zealous; she could never forget that imperial bureaucrats obstructed and denied her wish to become a scientist - she had already had a law education, and she was not one of the few people the Emperor deemed truly loyal. If she learnt more about the world than she already knew, she could have figured out the injustices of that era, making her dangerous to them. Thus she killed imperial soldiers left and right, believing they were wrong and evil for defending the Empire. When the Imperial Army was defeated, she began mowing down soldiers of the anti-android coalition. She led one of the most feared units, and advanced in rank quickly. But she did not live to see the conclusion of the war. Some Imperial survivors banded together, and ambushed her when she was alone, wishing to avenge their slain comrades. They managed to do so, but not before Aoife put a hundred bullets through a hundred foreheads."

"No. You're lying..." "So that's what who she really was, huh...?" "That is ridiculous. Why- well, let us assume that you are who you seem to be. Why did you take her as your Legate if she is a faithless murderer? Are you not supposed to know such things?"

"Yes, but to choose such a person was my intent--" Pyre cannot bear hearing any more of this. She jumps to her feet and walks up to the blue stranger, almost touching noses with him. "I'd prefer it if you told us more about how you can justify your actions." "No need to get angry. It was my intent to continue recounting--" "NO! That's just your self-indulgent fantasy! Excuse me, but I don't give a damn about your Legate, the Empire, Caba, whatever! Are you the one revered as the 'Wings of Hope'? Answer me!" ". . . Well, I'm afraid that's difficult to answer. What would you do if I were that person?" Incensed by the prevaricatory answer, Pyre reaches out and grabs his robe. Others can almost see the violent torrents of cosmic energies filling the room as the two of them clash. "Well, Wings of Hope, I would ask you this: Why didn't I get to see the bright suns and the brilliant sky until I was well over twenty? How could you allow the injustices of the world below? Everything down there can be bought or stolen, including the dirty 5-year-olds wandering aimlessly in the endless tunnels! Every single day for years I prayed, every single day I thought you were helping someone yet worse off than me, but you're... you're... here doing what exactly? Have you no conscience?!" The man frowns, and tilts his head, as if he were looking past her at a distant place or time. "I do not know about the 'Wings of Hope' or whoever it is you have been praying to. I can speak for myself only. I was not aware of the full extent of it - I was preoccupied by pondering the Maturation and the following events, and changing strategies to account for it. Axiom is more lively than it has ever been since what you call year zero. But more importantly, I was concerned that, in the end, intervening would have made things much worse. Such as my dear sister's outburst." He smiles and gestures toward the table everyone else is sitting at. "However, let us talk of the present. In fact, as you brought up the deity's role in relation to the Djinye, a subject I wished to broach as well, Ms ..." He touches his chin and a split second later, he looks pleased as if he just remembered the name of an old friend. "Ms Sub--" A look of panic flashes on her face and she drowns his words out with a shout: "MS PYRE! And you can't run away from the question. In either sense of the word." She takes out a flask full of a yellow liquid and begins drinking. Lin quickly recognizes it as Yeather concentrate and rushes to Pyre to snatch it out of her hands; that thing must contain an obscene amount of calories. Is Pyre perhaps trying to commit suicide by stomach explosion? But the queen stops abruptly and rushes back to the table, prepared to use it as cover, once she sees what Pyre is holding in her other hand - a ball, no, a shining point made of pure energy, gaining approximately a trillion joules with every passing second. "I implore you, do not attack me, Pyre. You are projecting your real enemies on me." *Glug* "Prove it. Now!" "There are numerous documents in the library of this very city that prove that the one called 'Wings of Hope', 'King of Kings' and so on has improved the lives of many Djinye." She discards the empty flask and stares at him intensely. "Cut the ****! If you knew my 'surname' you know what I care about or not!" This visibly annoys him, nevertheless he whispers a few words that only she can hear. Her pupils dilate with surprise and as her train of thought is derailed, the man swiftly grabs her hand and licks up from it the point of energy that she was about to drop on the floor.

Then he faces the other leaders, who were recovering from the sudden threat of being annihilated by a superpowered scuffle and the equally sudden de-escalation. No more in the mood for speaking in riddles, he cuts straight to the chase. "I should clarify the core issue, it seems. You have gone too far, Djinye, in your blind worship of and reliance on your... 'gods'. I attempted to relay the message more subtly - alas, it was misinterpreted. Have you learned nothing from the great war, which, seeing the stupidity of you all, could have been your last, were it not for a certain woman with a heart of gold?!" For a while it is quiet, and it appears as if he is contemplating how to continue his rant, but ultimately he chooses to disappear.

As soon as he does that, the silence is filled with the representatives' opinions on what did the visit mean and what should they do. Pyre would be expelled from the council for presuming to represent them all, putting them in great danger, and angering the visitor, except that, as she reminds them, there are tens of millions of soldiers that would not take well to the shunning of their leader, and by extension their faction. The debate drags on for several days, but ultimately all present sign the Danu Accords, named after the nearby church where Legate Aoife died:
      1) All political entities on Bespéartha shall enter a political union, headed by a Council with one representative chosen by each entity, the first such Council being composed of the signatories of this treaty. This political union shall bear the name Djinye National Front, and its mission shall be to reduce conflicts between the Djinye and to instead focus resources on making the great Djinye nation known and respected in all of Axiom, and bringing as much of Axiom under their control as possible. Lesser existences need to be protected from the possibly predatory practices of other powers. The Council may later amend its mission or its structure.
      2) The Meritocracy is dissolved with immediate effect. The Council shall directly rule over the lands and people previously under its control.
      3) The signatories shall strive to covertly reduce the importance of deities in Realtaist worship, due to recent events suggesting that no beings worthy of being revered as such exist. Whether a new Legate will be elected is the Realtaist Church's decision; however, if a new Legate is elected, the Council shall convene with her and convert her to its cause. The other Legate, of the Goddess, shall be covertly deposed of, his political disposition being at odds with the Council's mission, and the same procedure shall be followed with regard to his replacement.
      4) This treaty shall be strictly secret. No information about it except the bare minimum necessary shall be disclosed to any person or organization, in particular the general public and foreign powers.

    2. [Military 5]Create Tactical Doctrine: Guerilla Warfare
On a successful TD roll, the enemy increases the chance of a leader loss by (1) and suffers two additional distance loss rolls prior to combat starting. The enemy cannot lose all units from these two additional distance losses, and retains a minimum of (1) unit, assuming there are no additional distance losses from other sources. Approved by GM

The two decades of on and off civil war were finally over, and most countries gladly shrank their armies to a minimum, but that did not mean that a hundred million veterans simply disbanded overnight. The Council recognized the danger of having former soldiers wandering around, looking for a job. Many military facilities were hastily built in the middle of the scorched plains of Ríall, where the veterans would work in military engineering, test out new weapons and strategies, and most importantly, teach recruits the art of war. The slogan: 'Every soldier is an elite soldier!' Even if a soldier is alone, if they're clever, they can entrap and defeat many enemies. The recruits undergo endless drills and simulated campaigns, realistic to the point that many soldiers believe that they are fighting in a real war. Those that fail to perform well in but one campaign are discharged. The end result is a lean, yet fearsome defense force that does not know the words "flee" or "surrender".

    3. [Diplomacy]RESOLUTION: Inquest Z2 - The corner of Axiom! Automatic Great Success (22)
From the moment of the Council's formation, it was obvious that its members did not get along perfectly - in fact, it was more like a mutually-assisted power grab. While Queen Lin Sid also appreciated that the seat in the Council gave her more power over unruly nobility at home in Plantera, she did believe that the Council could, and should, make the world a better place. At first, feared that the brutish, ill-mannered warlord called "Pyre" would doom the project quickly, but soon it became clear that she was not interested in political power. She disappeared soon after the signing of the Danu Accords, mentioning that she had to look for someone or something. Lin was not exactly comforted by the though of that maniac capable of levelling cities running aroud the countryside, but what could she do? Instead of trying to police other Council members, all having some stupid and incorrigible quirk, she took it upon herself to request reports from the eastern parts of Djinye space and decide on the next course of action. She would later have to visit each single planet and reassure the inhabitants that there is no need for separatism, all benefits that they have received under the Meritocracy will be matched or improved upon, that was sure, but she thought that being proactive would be best for improving the Council's popularity ratings. Z2 was right next to Djinye space and curiously, it was in the corner of the Caller coordinate system, even though the galaxy was round - reason enough to send some idealists and restless souls there and see what it will bring, she reckoned.

It seems as if Selin Eutarche has nine lives. He's managed to escape the new government, leaving in a common merchant ship for Olympia, where he continues to spread his ideas. He claims that the government's recent, badly hidden aversion to deities is because they have discovered what they really are - demons striving to deceive and enslave humankind, like Selin has known all along, and many listen to him. Selin tries to restart his movement in Celestia, and though he's very principled, he is careful not to incur the wrath of the authorities by mentioning certain Realtaist scriptures that might be seen as ...socialistic. More importantly, he has to find a student. He is getting slightly old, and if he were to die now, the uninterrupted ten-thousand-year-long line of priests would irreversibly end, with much knowledge of the ancient roots of Realtaism being lost as a result.

Within Celestia Enterprises' newly acquired land, there exists a 'Great Dive' that is known as CHICKY SUPREME. Though it was far from completed, it was recently bought out by Celestia proper and they plan to make good on their investments. The entire restaurant is expanded from a single location with an *incredible* space chicken recipe to guarantee customer satisfaction. Simply put, buying the entire brand and renovating it was more cost efficient that buying the recipe's intellectual property for how fantastic it is. Despite the delicious chicken, the whole place becomes a disaster as opening day arrives. The priceless chicken recipe is absolutely botched by incompetent management and then lost to poor record-keeping, the floors are manned with local employees who care more for their paycheck than good service, and the huge marketing budget is siphoned away due to embezzlement. It's a failure. A HUGE failure. Prices in the entire region go down, generally attracting the poorer individuals that find the usual Celestian capitalist style a bit too overbearing and unmanageable.

Celestia is excellent at ignoring these people, making the GP bonus [+1 to buyouts] in W15.
