You mean Girard Draketooth from this comic? Frankly, I think he looks a lot more like Haley than Elan. In fact, I think there's a theory floating around that Draketooth has some sort of dragon bloodline and that he's Haley's grandfather or somesuch.

Could be, but I'm not willing to write up his obituary just yet. For one thing, if Nale had killed dear old Dad, he presumably would have taken over his nigh-unstoppable army, and he doesn't seem to have that kind of resources. He also seems to still hold his father's opinion in some regard, when he says that his father always taught him that bards were underpowered.

Well we do not know Elans current last name, but I bet Haley will trick him into accepting Starshine as his last name, if just so she can leave a longer legacy. She may love Elan, but she also is not above tricking him for her own gains, as shown here http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0129.html . not only does she trick Roy and Durkon, but she tricks the rest of the order to, including Elan, way after she shows the hots for him in http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0028.html, and she openly gropes him in http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0088.html both before she swindles him. Now, in no way, am I saying that Haley does not love Elan, what I am saying is that she might convince him to change his last name to Starshine.

He never said he killed him. Just that he was denied.

My guess, a teenage Nale thought he could do a better job with the army, and his dad kicked him out.

Or she could just ask him politely. Why would she need to trick him? It's not like Elan's bound and determined to carry on the proud legacy of his father, or anything. Nor is he likely to set much store by tradition, being chaotic and all.

Elan's surname is Pineapple, as suggested by this comic - Elan is a pineapple chunk, metaphorically speaking, since his mum is the daughter of the infamous Baron Pineapple; his father, of course, is Lord Tyrinar.

This also explains why Elan's parents married each other - Elan's grandfather on the mother's side was a villain himself, although probably a rather elanish one, and Lord Tyrinar wanted to ally with his family.
