Followed by a crackling black flail, Gashur quickly makes his way back to Jessica and Leonius. He draws a small vial along the way, but does not yet do anything with it. "A winged magic-using demon on the roof. Four ghouls. And someone heal me."

Jessica didn't hesitate and immediately charged the nearest ghouls, trying to take one out as quickly as possible until her allies could come to assist.

Mong had forgotten how weak he felt when he wasn't singing. He feels like he might sing next turn.
His Familiar reaches out and touches him to grant him Fast Heal 1 for 3 rds.

Its a short (un)life for the pair of ghouls. Jessica charges in and hacks one near enough in half before the second one suddenly topples sideways burning and smoking as a trio of flaming missiles strike it. Gashur is healed slightly as the black flail chases him, but cannot catch the fleet fast moving reptillian yet. Mong ducks under the spinning flail of force passing through the narrow alley towards the small courtyard. In the small courtyard the winged figure bellows a command in abyssaal and from the doors to the south a trio of ghouls come running out, two clearly once men, one of them massive, hulking and the size of an ogre or hill giant and full of rippling muscle and hate! One closes on Mong by the alleyway, the massive one and the other one closing on Jessica but with the width of the courtyard neither has time to strike her.

Nulkineth the winged half nabassu flaps and glides across the courtyard to the NW corner mear the ruined wall and the back of the stables hiding him from all but Jessica and Mong who are both in the courtyard. As it lands. It focuses, darkness swirling around it before switching to common he commands Jessica "Throw down your weapon. You have no chance, allow us to consume your flesh"

Jessica looked at the guy on the roof as he flew over to the other side.
"Nice try, idiot" she sneered at him, while trying to hit the massive ghoul who had just arrived near her. If they could take that one down quickly, she could quickly try to take out Nulkineth.

Mong and Jessica engage with the ghouls, one of the human sized ones taking a grievous wound from Mong but still moving, Jessica’s heavy blow sadly goes wide. The spiritual weapon catches Gashur as he drinks a potion flailing with dark force.

Jessica managed to deflect all but two of the blows, but while the ghoul didn't do much, the winged one did hit quite hard. But she didn't give up and she swung her big blade again, trying again to take the ghoul down. If she did take it down, she would cleave towards the winged one.

Leonius

The elderly cleric on his legs stomps forwards to the courtyard, seeing the villain hammering his allies. With a careful step he moves to engulf his allies in his glowing aura that pulses strongly outwards sealing wounds and restoring Mong, Jessica, Tali and Gashur even as it causes ghoulish flesh to blacken and ashen.

The ghouls are literally torn apart as Jessica, Gashur and Mong swing and slice at them even as a pair of them are consumed by the bright white fire streaming in a great arc from Tali's hands. Nulkienth then lets out a shriek of pain as Jessica's blade slams into it. Even as he screams Leonius arrives a wave of healing helping ease the pain of his allies's wounds.

The half fiend roaring in pain and now surrounded, friendless and alone allow the flail to continue to chase Gashur even as the fiend lashes out at Jessica again before in a sudden quickening dives sideways and leaps atop the roof of the far eastern house shack (where it had started) away from the nasty reach weapons and melee weapons of the party. Turning it hisses, "You cannot succeed the world will be consumed by blood and you shall not survive the blighted lands"

"Will you maybe enlighten us about how exactly that heppens?" There is some sarcasm in the troglodyte's voice, but not more than what could have been expected.

Nulkineth easily avoids the javelin from Gashur before howling in pain as fire washes over him. He cackles as the fires receed taking to the air streaking north over the wall before dropping low and out of sight, "I will see you again... next time your souls will be mine..." he howls as he flees, a plume of smoke trailing from him. Around Jess Leonius shoulders his way in, a hand glowing with yellow light as he places it on the wounds which begins to close, A muttered "I do not know how she survived that wound. It should have killed anyone of us but she seemed to resist it..." he couldn't say more. still clearly shocked but gladdened by her survival.

Cure serious wounds (3d8+5)[19] on Jessica

As you look around you can peer into the ruined rooms that surrounded the courtyard. The first room as you entered the courtyard appears to have been a grim dining room of some kind, three stone tables stand in this room, and their wooden benches lie broken and half-rotten around them. Leather straps with restraints stretch across their surface, buckled tightly in place as you remember that ghouls are cannibals.... THe next room connected to the dining chamber was once the chapel's kitchen. The ripe stench of decay chokes the air of this room, emanating from the bodies of two deceased soldiers hanging from the rafters. Various cabinets and tables stand around a fireplace in the south wall. The men are not your scouts (you found them in the church) and appear to have been here for several days (perhaps captured in the fall of Kenaberes). The three rooms at the back of the chapel yard are bedchambers. In the the first you find he broken frames of several beds lie scattered about this large room. Two of the more serviceable ones have been pushed together to make a larger sleeping pallet. A table and several chairs also occupy the center of the room. The other two rooms are similar, but sadly all seem relatively devoid of treasure as the savage flying inquisitor demon must have kept most of it on his person

As the healing energy washes over her, Jessica regains consciousness. However, she's still far from healed and is still in pain.
"Ouch, that was not fun," she groans as she sits up, looking around, "did we kill that demon?"

She's disappointed it got away, but slowly getting up, using her greatsword as a crutch, she channels some of her own healing energy before following the others into the rooms to check those out.

Gashur gives chase, running to the 20ft wall over which their foe had escaped. The wall slows him down some and the lack of cover offers no option for stealthyness on the flat ridge top. His initial climb and pursuit closes the distance dramatically until Nulkineth can spy him. The demonic inquisitor snarls an amused laugh and offers Gashur an (extremely) crude gesture before with wings flapping the fiend drops lower still before plunging over the cliff edge that forms the other side of the narrow steep ridge the chapel was built upon.

With the 20ft wall or having to go back to the main door Gashur wouldn't have caught him the first round. THen in the second round Nulkineth would reach the edge of the ridge and then Gashur can't get him as he's at a similar level of altitude as Gashur but the ground drops off a couple of hundred feet down.

The rest of the party looks around the the ruined chapel and courtyard. Leonius and the others helping poor Jessica up to her feet. Leonius squinting as he stands near the gates and looks to the east. "Someone with younger eyes than me... Is that our destination?" he asks pointing out where a few plumes of smoke and a dark smudge on the distant horizon that glows luridly suggest that at the end of the pass where the ground opens you can see a hill that you know is where citadel Drezen and the surrounding settlement is, and your eventual target with the Sword of Valour.

Leonius looks to the other leaders of the expedition Shall we rest here tonight before we approach the citadel in the morning?

Gashur stops on the edge of the cliff, drops the fauchard carefully on the upper side of said edge, takes the bow in hand and starts to shoot at the target still fleeing from him...

Gashur chases the flying demon for a couple of hundred feet, drawing a bow and launching a copy of arrows, one coming very close but just bouncing of magical wardings at the last moment. The demon flaos further away and in a few moments soon leaves bow range...

Back in the courtyard Leonius looks at Lady Jessica and nods. "I would agree. There is nothing living here. With Drezen so close we must make ready for the morning when we ride to war..."

Gashur turns away from the fleeing demon and heads back to the courtyard. "Got away. And that was a big fat one. A pity."

Then he addresses his potentially more sentimental and less practical colleagues. "Do we look for the scout's gear, such as it was, and/or attempt to bury what remains of their bodies? Also, do people have healing to spare or do I use the wand?" Speaking of the injuries, Gashur takes a look at Jessica, who seems much more alive than she could have been. "An almost perfect suicide attempt. You failed. Next time do not even try." He shakes his head and thinks that was too harsh on his part to say to someone who has almost died in a very heroic manner, so Gashur explains. "I'll move a lot. Forward and backward. You don't move forward after I move backward, okay?"

He is not looking forward to go searching through that stink, but if there are items of value to be found or people insist, he'll do that.

Gashur would like to be healed 5..10 hp before we rest for the night, assuming the magical flail is no longer an issue.
