Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
Bah... it's been 3-4am for the past couple weeks... which has turned out to be really painful. It's 2am right now, and if I didn't feel like crap right now, I'd go to bed like a good 'lil catgirl...

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
Oh man, I feel like such a girl. I went shoe shopping today. Shoe shopping. Not for sneakers or boots or beach sandals or anything, either. Pretty shoes. And I bought pink ones. And a handbag. A handbag! Which was also pink!
The reason for this being, of course, that I'm going to my cousin's wedding on Saturday. I'm wearing a new dress of mine, dark cornflower blue with dark blue, purplish pink and golden yellow flowers on it, and the only nice shoes I have are black and horribly uncomfortable and the nicest handbags I have are black and/or just don't go with it. So... shoe shopping. And a bag.
*shudders*
(the bag's too... Barbie pink. If my sister has an appropriate one I'll borrow that and return the one I bought unless I can find someone to give it to)The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!

I always love weddings.
I'm also at the point in my not-sleep-cycle where I can't spell and use grammar good, so I really shouldn't have left that essay until now.

Oddly enough, I tend to like weddings too. Someday I hope to even manage to be in one. Okay, I was in one, but as the father of the bride.

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
I keep a few things right now, but yes I have two species of geckos. I have a Pictus which was given to me by a friend who didn't want to keep buying crickets just for her. She's just here cause she's sweet. And she is very inexpensive to care for.
Then I have a pair of Gargoyle Geckos. They are adorable in my mind, and were an investment. I am hoping to start breeding them later this year. They are harder to keep, and more expensive. Largely because they like to eat baby food and a special diet from the internet. And crickets. Which they seem to suck at hunting now. But eggs will pay for them several times over. Especially if I can get my friend to let his red male have a conjugal visit with my female. Hehehehe *plots*

Do your gargoyle geckos by any chance do a decent impression of a statue?

Very decent.
But they got the name because of the bumps on their head. But they do like to just hang out.

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
In my IE experience, sometimes black, sometimes pale blue, sometimes white...once in a blue moon, transparent.
Sorry you're feeling bad. Hope you're better now. *hugs*
@Serp: Maybe you can hide the pinkishness and get a picture of the dress, though.
@Phoenix: That's pretty cool. There's actually "wild" (feral) geckos in most of Florida nowadays, maybe I'll head down south a bit and try to catch some...

Ner My sister thinks she has a good bag to go with it, so I'll probably end up taking that Barbie monstrosity back. I've gotta get my camera back off her, too, to get photos of the wedding (and me, too, if you're lucky )

Don't forget boa constrictors. I want to volunteer or get the job to go and help haul those out of the everglades.
And green iguanas, though I am not going near those.
And some.... well pretty much every family of reptile there is, there is an invasive species in Florida. We just need to steal some tuataras and plant them and see how they do. Hehehe. Then you would have a complete set!Last edited by phoenixineohp; 2008-01-16 at 07:37 AM.

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
1. Good thing I am immune to pun damage.
2. It is also illegal to do that here, Serpie. On another note, it just took me fifteen minutes to find out how the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora is called in English, since it's called "Washingtoner Artenschutzabkommen" in German. I even have a German version of that on my PC, but no, finding it isn't that easy.
3. That said, Bushy, you still should talk to local authorities about it first. It's definitely better to be sure about it than to get fined for not knowing any better.

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
Probably; I seem to recall a list of don't-touch species on the fish-and-game website and may take a gander later.
Generally, over here, introduced/escaped species are fair game. After all, they shoot swamphens, don't they?
At least, they do here...

Re: Bushranger's Bodaciously Buffed Random Banter-y Rooster #93
There's a likely reason for that, and it's name is Napoleon Bonaparte.
See, back when Napoleon conquered Continental Europe he prescribed that all traffic in domains his forces occupied should pass to the right, thereby saving time and money on travel by avoiding arguments over right of way on narrow roads. Whatever the merits or flaws of Napoleonic rule this particular idea was a very rational measure that the majority of the rest of the world later adopted.
Exception: Britain. Not having bent the knee to this Corsican Johnny Jump-up our Parliament passed a symbolic law that all traffic in British territories should pass on the left. Those areas of the world under British rule (Canada, Oz, NZ), hegemony (the Gulf Emirates) or cultural influence (Japan) drive on the left to this day.
Indonesia and Surinam (former Dutch colonies) also drive on the left, although the reason for that escapes me.

Yeah that worked out really well Bossman... now that all cars are manufactured in LHD countrys we have to pay well over the odds for our cars.. unless of course we are wealthy enough to afford something British.
