*Sigh* There goes my "magic lightsaber" theory concerning the sword. Ah well. At least we know that Sizemore is getting ready for battle, that the Tool is on the move, and that Bogroll continues to be useful.

As for how long until Parson has to use his shiny new sword? I would guesstimate it to be between 3 and 7 strips from now, though that's a completely unsubstantiated and unsupported statement.

I don't think it IS complete--it has a very flat, blunt end for a sword; there might be another component required yet. (Like the Kurgan's sword from the Highlander movie, where it came in three sections that had to be put together).

A lightsaber wouldnt really be appropriate for Erfworld anyway. But I think that its probably even better than that anyway- We havent got a clean look at it yet but that looks like Conans sword to me... Thats certainly the right style of the near-hilt portion of the blase at least. And if he's prepping to do the uber statless barbarian thing what better sword/archetype could you want? :)

I agree.. there's probably one more chunk. With Parson's special calculator setup these collected items are probably worth millions upon millions of smuckers. Hmmm. Quite a valuable take if they can capture Parson alive.

I'm curious how switching the warlords over works to a new membership (like Wanda did). Hmm...

Mmmmm... Sandwiches. Late at work and now I'm hungry. Heh.

SO looking forward to seeing all the tricks Parson has prepared...

    Go Erfworld!

Yes, that blade is a Conan style barbarian bastard sword/great sword. It consists of a hilt with a long grip, a 'fat' section just above the hilt probably for balance, and then the blade proper that extends quite far...usually the sword stands 5" tall or so for the ones I've seen.

    A similar looking sword...

Wanda was being pessimistic and Stanley was the realist: I did the math, Gobwin Knob is outnumbered a little over 12-1.

Royal Crown Coalition forces: 9751 units.
    Gobwin Knob forces: 786.

So, the puns as I see them:

Uhm... no more "Stupid Meal". Parson is getting normal food, and news on a sort of report paper (and no more written on the side of a food box).
Erfwood promoted him from "Stupid" to "No-Stupid"?

The blunt section of the sword that arrived in today’s breakfast is called a ricasso or “false grip” it is part of great swords or two handed swords. It allows the wielder to make powerful thrusting attacks. This is basically an extension of the handle of the sword and by changing grips it allows the sword wielder to shorten the length of the blade making the sword more maneuverable in close quarter fighting

Probably only to deliver the sword-blade ricasso, that would have been too long to fit into the stupid package

and news on a sort of report paper
I wonder about the clothgolems, orlys etc., where are they accounted for ?
And 15 CharlesComm units ? Or maybe the report lists levels, i.e. our 3 archons are 5th level ?

I think you guys have identified the sword correctly. I also think it's a two-handed Conan type of sword and Parson got only the blunt part for now which as IronMouse points out is historically correct (this part near the handle would never cut the enemy with any force during a swing so it is much better used as an optional handle extension)

finally some answers with numbers on the coalition and sides with cities and natural allies (no cities?),
    THANK YOU AUTHORS !

I find it funny that OotS and Erfworld both spoof Subway on the same day. Guess we don't get to see Parson in battle until he at least gets the blade for his sword, but I really hope to see Sizemore in action in the next couple of strips.

It appears that Sizemore will be leading the crap golems into battle.
    Spoiler

Or maybe that's what we're meant to think. maybe the bit about cap golems getting bonuses when led by a dirtomancer was just a red herring and Sizemore will actually be pulling off a landslide or tunnel collapse at a pivotal point in the battle...

Edit: Also what do people think of the bit with Stanley? Is this showing us that units move more slowly when veiled?

    Good eye.

However, let's bear in mind, we still don't know how different unit types are weighed; it's possible units of a higher level count for more, for example. It's also possible that siege units count for a lot more, and the odds have shifted because Parson destroyed 40% of Ansom's siege units.

The Tool being realistic and Wanda being anything but mechanically accurate (before her breakdown) is hard for me to believe.

I don't have to believe it in order for you to be right, though. Wanda certainly isn't a member of the Optimist Club.

Hmmm... if the difference is between a simple count of units (Stanley's 10:1 figure) and an estimate of total combat power (Wanda's 25:1 figure), that would support Parson's impression that Wanda knows more about military matters than she lets on.

Is that a slight smile on Parson's lips as he realizes what sword hilt he is holding?
Perhaps he will like that sword after all.

Also, does Sizemore seem distant to anyone else when he calls Parson "Warlord"?
Or has Sizemore never had a more casual name for Parson? I cannot recall.

This is an excellent reading in light of Ansom's claim to have four times the forces needed to take Gobwin Knob. With 1/4 of his force beign 2437 units that would give him only a 3:1 numerical advantage (not counting the dragons who have been defeated already) which should be easy odds for a properly built fortress, let alone one which has been claimed as one of the best defensive positions in the world.

So is parson going to be getting sword bits in 1' increments? or is his next meal going to be a 6' sub?

Honestly, though, the riccaso doesn't seem much bigger than the hilt or the mathamancy-gauntlet (which I note he is not wearing). I think the change in meal type signifies something else. Maybe Parson has decided (or Erf has decided for him) that he should start to eat healthier?
