Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Excessive force. Got it, Warlord.
Overkill. It's not just for breakfast anymore.
Also, notice how that big rock didn't work so well against that crap golem? I'm wondering if they have an immunity to physical attacks. If so, things could get real... crappy... for Ansom's troops who try to melee with 'em.SpoilerQuite possibly, the best rebuttal I have ever witnessed.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Very nice. Just enough to show us that Person's got a plan, but making us wonder what it is. And Sizemore's reaction is interesting. I am betting this is the first time he's seen his golems kill something?
If you can read this you are too close.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
All hail the Heavy Metal Golems!
Those Marbits are now a nice fine paste.
I think Sizemore's a little scared at what his golems can do when cranked up to 11..........

I loved that metal golems create a NWOBHM sound effect.

. . . I have no idea what just happened. I feel like I missed something. I went back a couple comics. Didn't help. Is there something else that I missed somewhere? Can someone please explain to me what the boop happened?

But we can speculate....
I wonder if Parson is trying to make it look like he completely fell for the feint, or maybe he is scaring away the Marbits. They are only a feint so they can't stop all of GK's forces if they get hit. Possibly both confuse Ansom force one faction out of the Alliance. That might cause even serious fractures if the leaders are confused, a major groups ditch, and a major reason for the fight is gone.

NWOBHM is a reference to the '70s-'80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
I'm so happy I understand something in this comic strip for once.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Cool. GÖLEM with an umlaut! Poor marbits, though.
Where exactly is Sizemore viewing/fighting from?

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Seizemore has that look on his face when someone lets off a round from a .44 mag for the first time. "Wow, I didn't know it could do that!?"
It is good to see him get a taste of his own power, and be on the delivery end of an ass kicking.

Good comic. I loved the rock umlauts in Gölem.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
That's precisely the point. It's not a real diacritical, it's the heavy metal umlaut.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Apparently I double posted, so instead of something stupid and redundant and repetative and stupid, I will say Erfworld is AWESOME. THANKS!

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Wow, thanks. I would never, ever have figured that out.
Did somebody say "speculate"?!
I see two, mutually exclusive strategic possibilities.
One, Parson is trying to make the marbit feint too costly, so Ansom will instead focus on the above-ground assault on Gobwin Knob's fortifications.
Two, Parson is making the marbit assault more costly so that Ansom will have to send more units down to support them, thereby weakening the attack against the above-ground fortifications.
Or perhaps either result suits his purpose, which is ...
... anyone? Anyone?

Anyone else get the sense that Sizemore is in the wrong line of work? He'd really be happier living in some pacifist philosopher kingdom.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Beautiful. And it feels so good to see Parson finally start acting again.
And yes, I suspect Sizemore had no idea of what he was actually capable of, so the .44 comparison is pretty much spot on. It's not as if either Stanley or any of the other commanders/casters ever did much to build up his morale. My Avatar is Vinnie Doombats from the Erfworld comic written by Rob Balder and illustrated by Jamie Noguchi.

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Ah here we go, time to get some hitsies in .
Of course now I'm TOTALLY over-analyzing the entire panel, trying to glean as much info as I can out of it.
I have to agree with the above post, maybe by utterly DESTROYING the marbits he can scare some of the alliance away from Ansom, or maybe he's trying to maintain the whole "Stanley is an idiot" and fool Ansom into falling for the feint.
Either way, things are getting fun"I don't mind a parasite, I object to a cut-rate one."

Re: 97 The Battle for Gobwin Knob, Page 87
Exactly. Only his golems get a bonus from being commanded by a dirtamancer, so it's not as dumb as it sounds, despite Sizemore's dearth of courage.
