Laris Ardenwood here brought up a good point in this comic. Lanna doesn't strike me as an evil person. Not a good person, but maybe a neutral one. Since vampires are (mostly, in this case) automatically evil I think that thats what Laris Ardenwood was saying when he mentioned that she wasn't like most other vampires he had encountered, that she wasn't evil.

Edited, (for two reasons). One I take that back. She's evil. As evil as fruitcake. Two Laris has a name. Sorry.

.... You can't get rid of vampirism. In fact, there's no way to permanently destroy a vampire without risk of resurrection without first stabbing it with a stake, then chopping it up into many bits, then using a wish spell to ask Pelor (or some other god) to eat them.

Only then can a vampire be permanently gone without risk of resurrection.

However, this is a comic, and probably in a homebrew setting, so Zarah can do whatever he wants, and he can invent new methods to cure it.
HOWEVER, since vampire is an applied template with level adjustment, what happens to the levels when the template is removed? Do the levels evaporate? It says specifically in the PHB that you can't gain multiple levels for winning one encounter, or doing one quest.

    Issue #105 is up.

And as an extra little bonus, I'll post some things I was thinking of earlier this weekend. (Also posted on the website as well)

    Some Notes on Vampires:
Vampires become stronger with age. However, this is not due to any supernatural or magical reasons, nor due to changing abilities. No, a vampire is similar to an average person, in that they must learn to use the abilities they are given. Much the same way that a human must learn to walk and speak, a vampire can't simply instantly know exactly how to assume the form of a bat, or summon a pack of wolves.

Similarly, most species must learn to walk before they can run, and vampires are similar. Once an ability is learned, it becomes the gateway to more powerful versions of the same ability. Turning into a bat will eventually lead into turning into a wolf, and possibly even into more powerful creatures given enough mastery of the ability. Such is the reason why elder vampires are the most powerful beings in existence. They have learned to tune themselves into their abilities to the point of them being nearly analogous to a human's ability to breathe.

I have some more notes as well, but I want to flesh them out a bit better. Besides, I can use these notes as an excuse to keep people tuning in.

I thought something like that might occur. Anyone who's been hunting vampires that long ought to expect their vampiric abilities, but what they were before being vampirised is going to be a lot more varied.

True, what if they were a fighter or a simalar class? no-one EVER expects a vampire to smack somone in the face with a greatsword.

Just attending, it was my cousin's wedding. Spent most of the night behind one of three video cameras my dad had placed around taping the ceremony, so I guess you could say I was an important piece of the event, though.
