  Glows
  Turns 20% of walnuts it hits into pigeons.

  "Turns most uncroaked to dust"
  
• Arkendish:
  "Mastery of Thinkamancy"

Sorry, but as soon as I read the title, something along these lines started going through my head:

What do the Arkentools do?
Summon pigeons or turn something blue?
The swordsman who is ailing, the Warlord who is glum
Does the Arkenhammer merely smash their thumbs?
Can they conquer and siege?
Embarrass those with noblesse oblige?
How does one manage to attune to their lot?
Oh, what do Arkentools do, we cannot?

("What Do Simple Folk Do" from Camelot; this is off the top of my head so I do not claim it to be anything close to good filking; just an idea.)

Also for the Arkendish it is possible Charlie is really using it as a power source or amplifier to gain the power.

Presumably all the tools grant a bonus to combat. The attuned Arkenpliers also probably give control of a super-unit of some sort. Finally, the hammer is also probably a powerful weapon.

I'm guessing from the Erfcast page, that each tool has a specific type of personality it is attracted or attuned to. So, Charlie, and Stanley found their attuned tools, but Ansom hasn't found a tool that he is actually suited for.

If he wasn't a royal, he would let each of his warlords try the Arkenpliers. As a royal, that is out of the question. Speculating for a moment, maybe at a critical moment someone else will pick up the pliers from a wounded Ansom. It would be a very "sword in the stone" trope for a fantasy comic.

So... assuming that each of the attuned Arkentools has some kind of unit it can command, since that is what people seem to agree upon generally, could the Archons be Charlie's special units? The ones he controls with his dish like the Tool control Dwagons with his hammer, I mean?

You're right about that. I wonder if Jillian would give up the Arkentool. She might sell it to the highest bidder maybe? Assuming she wasn't attuned to it of course.

Well, there's an exception to everything.

I think the 'artifact bonus' is a general thing all artifacts grant. It seems unlikely that the Arkenpliers grant any special unique 'broad' bonus to people who haven't attuned to them; it seems much more likely that all Arkentools grant you a bonus of some sort, or even all artifacts. The way they refered to it ("artifact bonus" instead of "the Arkenpliers' bonus" or something) strongly hints at it, too.
