After months of grueling hard work, the invasion is finally about to start. Just over the horizon lies Valenar. They have no idea what's about to hit them. The whole fleet has been staying far from the coast to avoid being spotted. Now the fleet waits, just out of sight of the elven coast. You are all aboard the Staber, one of many ships that have been commandeered by Haruuc's army for the war. It's not built for combat, but its entire crew can fight. Most importantly, the Staber has you. You are elite soldiers. You know that they will have a special job for you. You now stand on the deck of the ship. The crew goes around with its job of caring for the ship.'

''Ahh, Valenar. About time too, I was getting sick of the endless water. This should proove to be, ah, interesting.'' Hotham speaks aloud, yet doesn't talk to anyone in paticular. Instead, he talks out to the land, now visible on the horizon.

Grock

"Huh, you right there. Water's no good for proper combat. The sooner we hit dry ground the better." the bugbear replies from where he's standing leaning against a mast, far away from the railing and open water.

Moose barks happily, before scratching his ear and chewing on his tail.
"Bark."

"Pity," Vronk remarks, shutting his book with a snap, "I was starting to enjoy the quiet."

The bugbear turns to watch his... unusual companion revel in simple pleasure before turning to Vronk. "Quite? This not but the still before the storm, the anticipation of the battle where valor sings and armies cry. Good fight coming, me hope. Why you want lasting quite?"

Hotham sighs softly, before smiling softly. Speaking softly as well, without looking at either of them:

"Simple. It is nothing but a difference in tactics, you, I would imagine be prone to charging in screaming and yelling. Our friend, I imagine, would prefur the quiet because that means he has more time to prepare for the upcoming battle, more time to work out strategies, more time to work out how to survive. Myself, I prefur noise, but not necacerily the noise of war. Just enough noise to hide my own movement, all the better to remains unseen before getting in the first shot. And also, if they're being loud, they're not noticing you, giving you more time to work out my tactics. This is why people like our small friend here are the makings of officers, people like myself are those the officers would stake their life on, and you would be the kind that officers prefur to have in front of them.''

''Fair enough, I suppose. Although for someone who doesn't like crowds, you've picked an odd choice for an occupation. With us and the elves here it's going to be crowded enough.''

Standing on the the Port side of the bow Gorlang has his hand on Carrick's back. The wolf, bigger than the goblin, is growling deep in it's throat and has been for most of the voyage, at least when it wasn't snapping at sailor's legs, but Gorlang seems unconcerned.

Easy Carrick. The land awaits us, you will have a chance to run soon.

"Heh, we no leave 'crowds' when we through." the bugbear adds with a toothy smile. "Still, It best we not associate with big clanking army. Good fights have great noise, but start quite. Best fights start with ambush before elf slaughter. Good ambushes hard with clanky army. Clanky armies not proper goblin way.
