Casey tenses suddenly when she feels Julian's hand on her shoulder. "I said I'm fine!" She stops pulling on the knife, which seems to be stuck firmly, though she can't see how, and sits back on her heels. She laughs, brittlely and without humor. "None of us are really fine, are we? I've got a hold of myself now, if that's what you mean." She pulls at several more knives, but none of them budges. "These things are in here pretty good, I don't think they're coming out. I'm gonna go look for one in the kitchen."

She finds her way into the kitchen, and starts to look for something to use as a weapon. While she searches, she sees Eric (ThePhantom) polishing a pot, which seems odd, until she remembers that her own quest is more about keeping busy than any hope of protecting herself. He does seem strangely familiar, though. Where has she seen him before?

"Yeah... yeah, I guess you're right."

When she starts for the kitchen, he goes after her, not sure what else to do. Would it hurt to have a weapon nearby? Would it even be able to harm ghosts with it? He didn't know.

"You sure that's a wise idea Casey? You might hurt somebody with that thing. Most likely yourself."

A small smile appears on his lips at that, but is soon gone.

"Care to make me a sandwich? I wouldn't mind eating something and I imagine the same holds true for you."

Waiting for a knife to be plunged into his chest, he looks at Casey, with some sort of humor that in mostly innapropriate for situatin like this.

Her lips twitching with the barest hint of a smile, Casey brandishes the rusty paring knife she found at the back of a drawer. "Hurt myself? Now why would I do that? I can think of much more qualified candidates..." She shoots him a wicked glance. "Like a certain someone who thinks I'm his mommy or something, and expects me to cook for him. Unless, of course, you really meant to offer to make me a sandwich. Because now that you mention it, I'm starving." She puts a hand on her stomach. "C'mon, your kid is hungry. Let's feed him."

Expression of mock horror on his face, Julian approaches Casey and nudges her a little.

"You'll be a pretty lousy mother if you'll feed this kid of mine with the food I make, don't you think so Casey?"

Despite the seriousnes of situation, he smiles.

"Don't say I didn't warn you. But, if you wish so, I guess I can prepare you something."

Picking up one of the knives, he picks some bread in the other hand, cuts a pair of slices off it and puts them on the table. Going to the refrigiator, he takes some meat and cheese out and puts them beetwen the slices of bread. Beaming a smile at Casey, he then picks a few cucumbers out as well and puts them next to improvised sandwich. Putting everything together on a plate, he takes it to her and offers it to her.

"I hear pregnant women like cucumbers. I don't know if that's true, but..."

Putting the plate in front of her, he says to her, half jokingly, half serious:

"Don't say I didn't warn you Casey."

Wouldn't eat that thing if I were you... I don't think that fridge worked in a long, long time... you better off trying to eat something out of a can. Taylor looks at Julian and Casey, smiling to himself and looking at the other people.. they all needed to help each other if they were to escape this horrid place.
"Also, I know I might not be the most open in this room... If you have anything to ask me, ask away. now, if you excuse me, I am going to eat something, hopefully it wont be spoiled or poisoned. he smiles once more and start picking through the cabinets, finding a few cans of food.
"Would you like something, Kailassa?" he smiles the her, moving aside and revealing the few cans in the cabinet.

Kailassa yawns sleepily, slowly sitting up, the crumpled jacket which had substituted for a blanket the night before sliding off her slowly, staying wrapped around her legs.

The girl slowly looks around and a flash of disappointment appears across her features, a small sigh taking her as she looks up, trying to force a smile across her lips "I'm still here huh? Eh... sure... food might do me some good... how did you sleep?"

"Me? Not too badly... it was nice and warm... though I felt someone brush my leg a few times... I trust that was an accident..." She smiles, softly, eating whatever she could lay her hands on that seemed safe...

Martin turns to Higgs. "Ah. I see. You think this is about money, about base desires, about greed and want. But it's not. This is about an ancient evil, beyond comprehension. This is a battle for body and soul. And if you think that I would give us all up for... for things, then you are sorely mistaken, sir."
He turns to Fleeing Coward. "You've been mostly silent. What say you?"

People say silence is golden so I thought I'd test out the theory, still don't see no gold though. But now that you forced me to break my silence, I have to kill you (Uncle Festy).

After standing around for quite some time, just looking at the room, not even realizing whether or not Eric had left, Michael walked off into the hallway, his mind full of thoughts. His eye is suddenly caught by the room at the end of the hall where the chessboard resides. He stops suddenly when he notices that the black knight had moved and a white bishop had fallen to the floor.

Walking quietly in, he stares, his mouth yet again agape at the board wondering who- no, what- had moved the knight. The trembling man then slowly picked up the white bishop, replacing it onto its starting position and picked up the kingside knight, moving him in a perfect mirror-move to protect the pawn.

Someone appears to the chessboard-room, without anyone noticing how exactly he got in. He moves behind Michael.
This was my room once, ya know...
It's been a long time since I've had someone play chess with me. I fear I have forgotten how...

The old man takes the pawn from D7 and moves it to D5.

After finishing anther bite, and swallowing, he looked at Kailassa. "So, M'lady, would you mind telling me who were you before this dreadful place took us all under its roof?" he smiles again, taking off his golden glasses and cleaning them with a napkin he found on the table.

Yes. The usual rules apply, however. No influencing the game. No interacting with live characters, etc.

Benjamin feels the knot of tension inside him relax slightly as the others around him talk and smile. He now allows himself to fall silent and focus only on his cooking, which—despite his assertions to the contrary—is really quite good. He has found enough unspoiled ingredients that he is able to mix together a rudimentary batter for biscuits and a canned fruit salad; he lays carries the dishes over to a table.

"Enjoy!"

He too looks at Kailassa, "I wouldn't mind hearing the same, if Taylor doesn't mind me being here and listening in." He winks reassuringly at the old man and begins searching the cabinets for tableware.

Bryan stumbles out of the Servant's Quarters and starts to make his way towards the Kitchen. From his disheveled appearance and dark circles under his eyes its clear he hadn't slept all last night due to that accursed specter flopping down on the sharp objects. Passing the main room, he spots Yspoch. "This must be how he feels after a night of drinking," he thinks.

Reaching the kitchen he quickly makes his way over to the prepared food and grabs a plate. "Thanks Benjamin. We all greatly appreciate it," Bryan says in between scarfs. Spotting the Charismatic Magician, he heads over. "You're the magician I met in front of Cook's Inn the other day, aren't you?" Bryan holds out his hand and smiles, "I thought I overheard you were looking for something. Maybe I can help?"

((I point at Yspoch since he was the only one who voted for Shadowcaller yesterday and since the wolves are blind, maybe he voted for him again at night. Really just grasping at straws, though.))

"It isn't me that you should ask if I'm fine with it, its the fair lady you should ask. Act as a gentleman, or don't act at all." Taylor answers to Benjamin... his green-bluish eyes glitter with what seems to be chivalry.

"We might as well take a look around for it. It's better than sitting around waiting," Bryan says, nodding to Eric, as they begin to leave the kitchen to look around. "Where would you like to start first, Mr. Magician?"

"Well... thank you." He turns to Eric. "You said you had a map of this place - may I see it?"

Kailassa looks at her benefactor with a small quirk of confusion. Hadn't she introduced herself the day before? Was this some sort of test... or were they beginning to lose her memory? Maybe -she- was losing her memory, and her past being replaced by delusion... what if she failed their test by staying true to her own memory? Would they understand? Would they think her lying?

Swallowing slightly, she cast hateful eyes on the manor around her, blaming it for events that had not even happened yet, then looked back to the two men, adopting a sweet little smile, "Me? Well, I worked as a hostess at The Row down by the docks... delivering drinks, slapping pinching hands... you know... I really want to be a writer, but my poetry never comes out very good, and my fiction falls flat, or at least thats what they tell me..."

"I wouldn't mind hearing some of that poetry, I'm a sucker for poetry of any kind. Ever written any "duet poems"? I used to read those with my wife all the time, the intertwining voices is just beautiful." Benjamin stops talking, he's just noticed how uncertain Kailassa looks. "Of course, it's fine if you'd rather not share."

"Okay, here it is." Eric takes out his copy of the blueprints of the manor. "Mind you, this could be a little out-of-date, but its the best we got."
