The fair is laid out as three concentric ovals for main roads (wide in the East-West, narrow North-South). The inner most boarders the Central Plaza, the outermost runs along a 15 ft tall outer wall studded with 8 30-ft tall watch towers. Two major thoroughfares cut through the fair grounds running North/South, one tangent to the East end of the Plaza, the other tangent to the West end. Other smaller lesser streets and alleyways run throughout the fairgrounds. There are four gates into and out of the fair, one at each end of each thoroughfare.

All told, the fair is an oval 1,300 ft long (East/West) and 1,000 ft wide (North/South) with the Central Grand Plaza a rectangle at the center 600 ft long and 300 ft wide.

The parade is entering the fair ground at the SE gate, continues north to the Grand Plaza where it circles around the Plaza until it reaches the SW corner of the Plaza where the exuberant fair goers are separated from the official elements. The Barrel Ride is located on the outer side at the SE corner of the inner boulevard. The shooting gallery is located on the outer edge of the inner boulevard at the SW corner. Assuming you have made your three pass-overs in the same direction as the parade flow you are 30 ft above the ground (even with the tops of the tallest buildings) 100 ft north of the Barrel Ride.

There are two cages that may meet your criteria: a stout wooden cage carved and varnished such that an aristocrat might use to keep an exotic animal (60 gp, 30 lbs) and a practical iron cage useful for (small) dangerous animal transport (100 gp, 50 lbs) A simple lock available for 25 extra.

Cac-kt looks over the two cages, before finally settling on the varnished wooden cage. And a nice little lock for him as well. As he picks it up, holding the poor unconcious rat in two of his hands, he asks the cage-seller; "Just a few questions. Is this a good cafe for the rat? And what should I feed him? And where can I get him healed? And what's a good name for a rat?"

In fact, I'd be happy to paint the name on the cage in matching style and quality... only 2sp a letter."

"For healing you could try and find one of the priests or mystics, but it looks like it's only a little dazed. You could possibly feed it most anything, but I'd recommend our quality gourmet animal chow, only 3gp for a week's supply!"

As the parade starts to thin the Halfling mother tugs excitedly at you and begs for her children back. One child starts to cry asks to be let down, while the other begs you to join the parade.

((Cac-kt's doesn't have to be a gullible chop, but he's come across as 'simple' 'naive' and 'foreign' to the shop owner, and many immoral shop owners across time practice the tradition of painlessly liberating country rubes from the evil influence of their money.

I look forward to see who you refine this, and if his personality changes over the adventure.

The gnome carefully picks up and inspects the rat.

"No, I was right. It's a 'She', and while Eloquent Fang is suitable for either gender I believe it does have a subtle feminine ring that suits her" The gnome says firmly. "Now, that will be 34 silvers extra for the food and name painting. I'm afraid I don't have any 'toys' for a rat, but perhaps she'd like a length of pear-wood for gnawing, only 1 silver a foot." He finishes has he begins to collect your money and start his painting.

Alexis The thief looks up, a money bag in his hand as the crowed turns to look first at you, and then at the thief.

With the crowd you can't charge, but you close to within 10 ft before his reactions kick in and he turns and scurries through the crowd and disappears a corner into an ally 30 ft away before the bystanders can react. With the halfling's short legs he's probably not that far ahead.

Some of the crowed surges forward to get a better veiw, other back out of the way, as shouts echo up and down the street. A few criers morn their losses and promise rewards.

It isn't the most believable bluff. You may add up to a +10 circumstantial modifier to your sense motive. Failure be 5 or more distracts you completely. Failure by less than 5 gives the fugitive an extra 20 ft head start down the next alleyway.

The gnome winces slightly at being called a "fleshling", but a paying customer is a paying customer.

"Zook at your service" he says as he finishes painting the name on the cage.

You don't believe the lying scoundrel for a moment. With a single bound you grab the top of the fence and pull yourself over to land lightly on the other side. The fugitive dodges to forward a bit and pulls out a hand crossbow which he points uncertainly at you from the pathetic cover of broken wheel 10 ft ahead of you.

"Stop chasing me! I'll shoot! I will I will! What do you want anyway? A cut? I'll give 20%, 25%! Just take the money and leave me alone!"

I tried recruiting new interest, but the recruitment thread was quickly buried under the other seasonal influx of new games while the few who had posted soon withdrew interest.

If any of you ever meet anyone looking for a new game feel free to invite them, but otherwise this game will be limited to the four of us.

Since we aren't waiting on anyone then I believe it's time for me to say: "Does anyone else have any business before we advance to the day of the Grand Champion Challenge Events?"

Finally, everyone arrived on day 2 of the fair. Does anyone want to RP through the evening of Day 2 and/or Day 3, or shall the plot move on to day 4 when the Olympic Preliminary Trials are conducted?

"Hum? Oh no" The humanoid at shuffling paperwork at a makeshift desk replies. "The healer himself is Regal and... and you really want that rat healed? It's only... fine. Do you want it cured of poison, disease, or magically restored of health?" he finishes pointing at the sign.

Alexis
The little street urchin sits miserably as a crowed noisily bumps up another ally and approaches the two of you. It's a somewhat angry crowd accompanied by three guardsmen trying to keep the noise down. "There's the thief!" "He stole at least 200 gold off me!" "My life savings" "I'll buy his scrawny hide and make him pay!"

You notice a small hand attempt to plant the evidence on you.

When you exit the archery booth you find a loud crowed pushing it's way up a street despite the best efforts of two guards. Half the crowed is crying "thief" the other half is egging the first half on.

"Nice try." Alexis gives him a swift kick, then tosses the incriminating evidence to the ground where she can see it.

"Listen up, you vultures. This man is a thief, but he's not your thief. He's not even my thief. he was the thief of some random unlucky fools in an area of the festival a minute away. And if you try to take from him any more than you deserve, you are just as bad as he is and will answer to my hand. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME!"

I thought you were doing the obstacle course too, but I haven't found any posts or PMs that indicate you've run the tower yet.

It's pretty simple to sign up for the obstacle course: either point out a post your poor DM overlooked, or march Cac-kt over to Henry's Obstacle Tower to officially enroll.

"Well, I'm not the doctor, but I don't think it needs healing: just a little time. Still, if you want it up and running now that will be 22 gold."
